Vale in the community.

Wasn't it reported in the Sentinel and at the supporters meeting that due to the chairman failing to support the trust and signing the capability agreement that the trust lost up to £153,000 in funding???????? That would have paid for more staff to go into more schools marketing Port Vale, getting children interested in Port Vale and in attendig matches at Port Vale--that would lead to more money in the pot becaused adults would be accompanying the children, buying food, programmes etc.

That seems like a one-way argument to me.

It's supposed to be a community scheme, not a marketing scheme.

The monies which support FITC programmes are for the most part generally accessed from government departments or charitable bodies, with the aim of using the 'power of football' to engage (mainly, young) people in positive sporting and educational activities. For example, linking with organisations such as Positive Futures, Kickz. Playing for Success, etc. Professional clubs and the PFA then provide support 'in kind' such office space and other material resources.

If the Vale community scheme had been sufficiently good at accessing these monies, and, importantly, working with key community partners, it might have sold itself a little better to the club and not been in the mess its in now.

Remember, if the community scheme is not delivering a good community product, it reflects badly on the club as a whole.

I only mentioned the 'marketing' aspect to address one of the comments from previous posts on here eg what do /would Vale/the chairman get from having a Community trust-the financial benift is only one aspect .However more inportantly is the positive feedback from the groups within the community that the trust are working with -evidence that the scheme is doing something right/well. (some of which were mentioned in Saturdays sentinel) What will happen to these groups? If the chairman is considering setting up a scheme it needs to be done now so that these groups continue to be supported.

The problem is they have continually wasted previous grants by underperforming consistently in their KPI's. Totally support the chairman on this.

Anything that has Mike Lloyd involved is doomed to failure!
