I did hear a whisper a few months ago from a mutual friend that Chris was going to call it a day, I was hoping to have a word with him on Friday after the game but 'twas not to be; good pro, just unfortunate with injuries.... Best of luck for the future, hope you get to stay in the game in some capacity.

I too heard a while ago it was curtains for Shuks due to a persistent knee problem.

 

I don't know him but he's always appeared to me to be an excellent professional and his conduct whilst at the Vale has been exemplary. We owe the guys like him a debt of gratitude for sticking with us during the darkest days when they could have surely 'jumped ship' to another club (plenty of L2 & Conference clubs would have been happy to get players of their quality).

 

I always (grudgingly) admired him when he was at Tranmere and he gave us a hard time and would have liked us to sign him at that time.

 

Thanks Chris, a quality player who could deliver a great ball. Genuinely, all the best for the future.

Used to fear him when we played at Tranmere cracking player. As others have said he has a great footballing brain and just a shame Jordan didn't have his vision in those last few minutes against Sheffield Utd as Chris would have had a truly memorable last appearance at Vale Park.

I've always liked Chris Shuker. He is the only player with whom I could be photographed without having to stand on a box.

I wish him good luck. He has had a decent career at championship, league 1 and league 2 levels. When he played for Tranmere he was a for a time their best player. At Vale the team structure has never been right to accommodate him, but people will have seen that when on the ball he has good quality.
