You pay for the goals and the personality with a player like him, Hughes would have been just what we needed right now I think for the run in, plenty of passion, experience and that goal poaching instinct - just when you need it - look at Wycombe to name one, he wouldn't have missed all them chances on sat( oh eck Pope ) that's for sure

He was integral to us last season after Pope's goals dried up. I think he left at the right time though, it was time to throw Williamson in to see if he "sinks or swims". The jury is probably out on that.

Indeed. Another 4 or 5 goals between now and the end of the season may convince me he is worth perservering with. Thought he played well 2nd half on Saturday, possibly his best performance for us.

Key to tonight will be a) midfield (again) where we often give the ball away far too often & often get over-run and b) our ability to defend set piece headers in our box. Messrs Griff & Grimmer didn't look too clever for both of Tranmere's goals on Saturday and no doubt Cotterill will have clocked that.

 

We all know our defending isn't great so we need to give them something to worry about in their own box, otherwise they'll just push up on us and we'll lose. However, if we're good going forward this is a winnable game; it all depends on how Adams plays it and if the players can do what's asked (which is a bit of stating the bleeding obvious).
