I'm disgusted that you appear to spend your time watching porn instead of getting behind Norman, Micky and the lads. I used to enjoy reading OVF before people like you came on here and made me want to jump out of the window.

To be fair as much as I love OVF that sounds far more pleasurable than reading the doom merchants! ;)

Out of all peoples gripes with Norman, this is the one thing that worries me, and I'm genuinely astounded that it's nothing more than a footnote.

Splitting the ground from the club makes us a less attractive proposition to potential suitors surely? The article says we aren't paying rent at the moment, but if the club is sold without it, then the rent will come into play. Wont that affect the playing budget? It will certainly be an annual 6 figure bill that we currently don't have now. The money to pay it will have to be found somewhere. To me, there is absolutely no benefit to Port Vale in splitting the ground from the club. There is however, to the owner of the Ground.

Norman always said that when he left us, it would be with no debt and in a better position than when he bought us. I have no reason to disbelieve that yet, but if he does sell us without the ground we will be in debt to him straight away (the ground rent) and Port Vale not owning the ground is not a better position than Port Vale owning the ground, which ever way you look at it. Only time will tell I guess, whether he is a man off his word.

I don't think it's much to worry about. Any prospective purchaser would almost certainly not want one without the other. It gives Smurf a better negotiating position but I don't think it's a huge issue

Except any new owner would have a separate ground and football club so we would still be in the same position.

Gosh! We have a chairman/owner who is not perfect, how many other league teams are in a similar situation? We are not a massive business who can afford silky PR skills, however electronic media is increasing the speed of information flow for better or for worse. Bits of info either maintain interest until the full story can be told, delayed for various reasons, or the deal falls through, a matter of opinion. But that is the age we live in. I would prefer full statements on the Vale site, but realise local media has to appear to play it`s part.

Does not the ground sale covenant arranged by the council cover this? I assume a similar option to the Assets Of Community Value (ACV) system..

Good point, given how sympathetic he was to Coventry's plight I also don't think he would want to harm the club or be a hated figure.

You can book theatre, concert tickets online / by phone and collect at the box office. Why not footie grounds?

Fair enough if that is what they are going to do, I just wish they would clarify the situation.

Not if any new owner amalgamated the two, which isn't complicated

Of course it improves his position Geo. any rent due would be at Smurf's discretion and therefore it's an extremely powerful tool

I meant... unless he sells... but then again I should have said .. unless he sells and keeps the ground
