England v Denmark

Recommended Posts

Yet we kept out Italy in the Euros for 120 minutes without too many alarms. Our strikers, minus Rooney and Sturridge (both of whom are, in my view, made to look much better than they are by playing with world class strike partners) are very average. We aren't that good going forward, though Cahill and Jagielka seem to be building a decent central defensive understanding.

Ridiculous post.

Liverpool were without Suarez for a number of games this season and yet Sturridge still shone and scored goals. A lot of the goals he scores are made by himself. Also, when he's on form Rooney is still United's best player.

I said it on here before Hodgson was appointed and I'll say it again, Michael Laudrup would be a good fit for the national team in my opinion.....

Yeah, I agree with that. He'd certainly be a better option than what we have now, in my opinion.

I've got nothing against Roy, but I just don't seem him progressing the team in any shape or form, along with his brand of football being incredibly dull.

Is it just me or were England better without Rooney?

As a raw talent coming through at Everton I thought he was a real positive for the future, now I think he's an over rated, over paid, disloyal player, who needs taking out of the international side.

I agree :censored:

He's become a player trying to do everything and so ruins the shape of the team and unless he scores he doesn't seem to contribute much.

Dull football might just get us somewhere...we've tried playing all our forwards and getting the ball fwd quickly and we end up losing or getting a score draw at best against the better teams. Bore them to death and sneak a goal like last night :boring:

That should really appease the fans who pay extortionate amounts of money....

Major footie tournaments are not won playing open and attractive football, only one world cup post 1970 has been won that way, Brazil 1970. "Bore them to death and sneak a goal like last night" was how Spain won all their knock out matches in SA 2010.

You've hit the nail on the head there. Every game I see Rooney he gets deeper and deeper. If he was a midfielder he'd be one of the best in the world, he has the footballing brain, his vision and passing are second to none but he's also expected to play up front as well as run around in midfield all game?

Is that something he's doing or something Roy/Moyes/Fergie have got him doing? If he focused on playing up front, England would benefit far more. Let Stevie G run the middle, the balance is all wrong.
