Absolute nonsense!

Let`s take stock here a minute.

You`re mega-rich owner owns your ground which is plenty big enough for you, at present and any likely time in the future. It`s worth millions more than ours, which we don`t even own.

Yet you come cap in hand asking us to sign a petition to enable you to move into a shiny new ground, built by your sponsors St George no doubt, so that you can hope to achieve your ambition for regular solid Championship football on a consistent basis.

You said before we are similar sized clubs in many regards and I agree there.

Do you honestly think selling your soul and moving to nearer Kew Bridge will gain any new numbers on the gate? Brentford have their hardcore of supporters, most around here follow Chelsea or any other sterile Premier club and those that follow QPR and Fulham won`t change their minds.

We are struggling to keep our development squad cos it costs £300k a year and may have to go, if we are able to afford to keep our Manager on.

Griffin Park is where you belong and where your heart and pulse should be, you will never attract less than 4,000 when times are bad, nor more than 8,000 when they`re better.

Good luck for the future and I hope it`s sustained at Griffin Park

I jumped in and signed , thinking "small club similar to ours , same plight" etc, but after reading this I'm not sure at all.

This post gives me more information than the initial one from the Brentford fan. Why not stay at Griffin Park ?

Our 'mega rich owner' can't sustain his current funding much longer, he is a very wealthy fan but no Arab prince. He also doesn't own the ground, the club does but we have big debts against the ground to Barclay's, moving only can enable us to pay this debt

St George don't sponsor us anymore and the preffered developer is a firm called Wilmott Dixon.

Also our avg attendance on our current form for home games is 8k (so presumably in ch'ship we'd get more, contradictory to what youre saying) which is needed to break even, anything less and we make a match day operating loss. To sustain ourselves we need a new ground, simple as.

The misinformation is things such as too much traffic increase which is not the case at all, proved by club research.

It'll be very low polluting despite the NIMBY claims other wise.

They are making other ridiculous claims such as 'it'll make the club look like a Chinese city' etc. Any excuse to not go ahead with the build.

The truth is, the land is an eyesore andwwould reinvigorate the area

Perhaps he should have paid the debt rather than underwriting your unrealistic wage bill. You are in an artificially inflated position and want others to help you maintain that. Sorry, no can do

As I say, we cannot continue at Griffin Park for much longer. We will go under. Our owner has built the club up but his wealth is not endless and when if we don't get the new ground losses will be too high to sustain and our debt cannot be cleared and will simply increase to the point of bankruptcy

Sorry, but you COULD continue at GP for as many years as you`ve already been there and more! You will not go under at all there, if you get realistic and stop signing the likes of Judge and such if you can`t afford that standard of player in the future. You need to tighten your belt and cut your cloth accordingly, for want of 2 better clichés.

Respect for having unrealistic ambitions, but forgive me as a fan of a rival similar size Club for not wanting to sign a petition to help you achieve those aims.

If you were genuinely in the poop and looking at bankruptcy, I would be the first to do what I can to help, but seems to me you`re just dreaming of a bigger better Brentford and as I`ve said from the start that`s not in my interests.

Good luck in the Championship next season, you could stay there if sensible and realistic and hope to cross swords again soon, hopefully at Griffin Park, a gem of a ground, be careful what you wish for!

Apparently your capacity at GP 12,763,seems plenty enough for your crowd at 95% of home games allowing for 3-4000 away fans which will rarely happen, might have to turn people away v QPR or maybe Fulham other than that perfectly adequate.

They're not promoted yet.

Time will tell as to whether Brentford can make this work - their west London location gives them a fighting chance if they can get in to the Championship. They will always attract reserves from Premiership teams whose players do not have to relocate or commute to play for Brentford, and given that both QPR and Fulham have been where Vale are now, why not be ambitious and aim to replace one of them in the longer term?

Good luck to them - nice club, Brentford I wish them well.
