I've just read the Sentinel feed from last night and it seems the potential TV revenue if we were to achieve promotion was debated. Does this work the same as the Premiership?

For example Premiership clubs get paid for 10 games (I think) regardless. So if Stoke City only get shown 3 times they still get paid for 10. If Liverpool are show 15 times they get paid for 10 and and additional payments for the other 5.

Is this not how it works in the Championship? People seem worried that we wouldn't be selected to be shown so wouldn't receive TV money. My understanding is that's not how it works, but Smurf seemed to think it does? I wasn't there last night and got my info from the feed. So if anyone knows any more then please tell!

BBC Sport 18 April 2013. quotes

The Premier League sold the broadcast rights from 2013-16 to Sky and BT in June for £3.018bn, an increase from £1.25bn, with overseas rights expected to take it beyond the £5bn mark.

Between them, parachute payments - money given to sides relegated from the top flight - and 'solidarity payments' - cash given to clubs not in receipt of parachute money - account for 15% of that TV deal.

Press Association Sport reports that clubs in the Championship not receiving parachute payments will get £2.3m each - more money than they receive from their own TV deal.

League One clubs will receive £360,000 and League Two clubs £240,000, respectively a 6.6% and 5.4% rise.

I take that to be a annual payment.

I would also expect the club secretary to be expert on these matters.

to be fair that would be quickly cancelled out by players demanding championship wages.

then if we were to get relegated they wouldn't want to be taking a pay cut

you can say exactly the same thing about being promoted from lge 2 to lge 1 or the skrill to lge 2 or the champs to prem lge , i am sorry but that excuse is just a cop out for me. managing a budget in the champs is no different than at any other level . we know we would be a small fish in a big pond but if done correctly and we did suffer relegation, in theory we should come back stronger until we find ourselves eventually competing . look at the likes of wba in previous years in going from the champs to prem lge, they literally did boing boing from one div to the other. posh are attempting to do the same going from lge 1 to champs level .

Cheers pal. So it sounds like Smurf doesn't understand this?

so already we would be 2 million better off then , interesting .

Not sure how true but I was told by someone who had a lot do with footy that promotion from League One is worth around 4m to a club with increased tv and other revenue, although I guess the wage bill would rise as well
