Mediocre Indie Bands You Liked

Saw a few bands who ended up relatively big at the stage. Used to go and try bands out and got lucky a few times. Paid on the door for likes of libertines amongst others. Muse before their second album came out. Had a ticket for Coldplay but it was a uni ball and couldn't go.

Terris, file under Gay Dad, Campag Velocet and Regular Fries.

I thought Gay Dad might have been decent but the other two were absolute toss who were mates with NME journos.

Saw gay dad at the stage actually. Went because they were called gay dad! Weren't they meant to be a **** take?

I can't remember. I don't think so. Then again one of them was an ex NME writer so maybe.

I saw Dodgy at the Stage, a warm up for the festival season in '96. Also saw Mogwai/Arab Strap, Llama Farmers, Space...

Not been to the Vicky Hall since the refurbishment. Think the last band I saw there was Suede when they were touring Dog Man Star. Great gig considering Bernard had left, but they were all his songs.

Saw the Manic Street Preachers at the Wheatsheaf and get thrown off after a few songs for smashing up the ceiling. Missed Green Day who played at the Wheatsheaf before they hit the big time.

I think most indie bands by their very nature are mediocre. Can anyone remember Jeffery's Velvet Jacket from 'Castle?

I saw them there but it was a late album they were touring...trash? Butler was definitely gone by then. Though he did play the stage with his 'solo' band.

Remembered another one. Saw JJ72 at the Stage and met the band after the gig. The dressing room is half the size of the paddock toilets but not quite as smelly.

Admit it, you tried to chat up the bass player?

Played there a few times, and once you leave your cases and kit in there, there really isn't a dressing room. Had to pop behind the door Just to come back out again!
