Paul Wildes

Just stumbled across this article and found some of the terms used by Wildes, particularly when he claims to have 'sold' Vale, very interesting. Perhaps it's a wrong choice of wording, but I was under the impression that Wildes left the club because he was unwilling to match Smurf's investment, on top of other things?

I suppose strictly speak Wildes was the owner of Vale. The club was bought by that Alchemy Group and he is the sole shareholder of that group if you look at Companies House. Don't know where on earth the "sold" bit has come from though. How can you sell summat to the bloke who paid for it in the first place?!!

Didn't he mention about having race horses when he was involved with Vale. But here he says he bought his 1st horse after selling Vale?

no he doesn't say that. the use of the full stop in the sentence is very important

"He has helped me to avoid the pitfalls and I bought my first horse at Tattersalls Sales. After selling Port Vale I decided I would like to be more heavily involved and, of course, if you do that, the biggest expense is training fees"

he may well have bought his first horse after leaving the vale but you cannot infer that from the above quote, which is what i assume you were referring too.
