George and I and a few others were shot down in flames for supporting the decision to bring him back, it seems for the time being at least we have been proven right as he is giving his critics food for thought and offers a great balance for Lines in the middle of the park, a partnership which given time (a valuable commodity in football) can flourish.

The icing on the cake is that his passing range seems to be improving and thats full credit to the man himself.

Well done Griff, keep it going and keep everyone happy.

With Griff you know what you're getting. He's not flash or skillful but he is solid and steady. He does what it says on the tin.

But yesterday he took his performance to a new level. The guy was outstanding and looked like he's played like that all of his career. He stood out even though Lines, Loft and Chilvers were having good games themselves.

Arguably his best game in a vale shirt.

I haven't been to any games since his return, but I always thought there was more to him than just tackling. He has never played Hollywood passes across the pitch, but his composure on the ball and retention of possession is second to none at this level, and has previously gone unnoticed by a lot of people.

I'd add that he's a ball winner, similar to Andy Porter in a way. They do get booked, and they sometimes pass to the opposition, but they break down what your opponents are doing. I thought he was excellent against Coventry.

Interesting because fans on the tranmere site and on TFF are saying their midfield had no balls winners or tacklers, which is probably why Griff did well because he could dominate.

I also think although their midfield weren't either of the above, that they were both poor hence why Griff did well.
