From what I've heard on SSN this morning, he was a complete plank who used bully boy tactics to run his squad. For example he wouldn't let the players communicate with the other staff at the club on match days in case they lost focus! That meant people holding doors, serving them pre-match meals etc. Not only is that stupid, it's just plain rude.

In hindsight dragging the players in for extra training and saying "if you don't like my methods, go and tell the chairman" was a mistake. In fact the result was probably the last thing he wanted to happen

In hindsight dragging the players in for extra training....

Mmmm...

As for Di canio, it was a ridiculous appointment in the first place and no surprise he has gone, achieved league 2 promotion based on a massive budget for that level and would have been nearly impossible to fail and then given a top level job based on his name.

David Moyes? :shifty:

I know it was a difficult run of fixtures for United but other than looking pretty decent against Swansea on the opening day of the season they've been pretty shocking. They have picked up zero points against Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City and only scored a wonder free-kick in those three games. Felliani is a good player but nowhere near world-class and certainly doesn't make their midfield any more creative, something they've lacked for a few seasons. They really needed to add at least a couple more excellent signings before the window shut if they're to win the league and compete in the Champions League. The latter they have absolutely no chance of winning. From the two sides that competed the Manchester derby on Sunday how many United players would get in City's side? Probably Vidic for Nastasic and Rooney for Negredo, although they're completely different types of forwards. That's it!

Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia are woeful at the moment.

A good post apart from one minor untruth.

They drew against Chelsea, thus picking up one point.

Though I agree, utd always seem to get a run going. Maybe that was due to ferguson but there isn't much difference from the team last season, and if fergie was there I'd still expect them to do well. Thing about fergie is he rebuilt every few years, and did it well. The team is at that point again, and time will tell if motes can do it, whether he gets the times etc.
