Seem to remember going Orient many years ago on Leek Travelling Valiants bus. Lost 3-0 I think and Trevor Wood saved 2 penalties.

Norm,we lost 3-0 at Orient in season 1983/84 but Barry Siddall was in goal for most of that season.We played them away in October 1983,a month before we lost 7-0 at Burnley and shortly after that John McGrath was replaced by John Rudge.We got relegated that season.

The only times we played Leyton Orient during Trevor Wood's time at the Vale were after he had already been dropped by Rudge (after the incident at Swansea) and he never played for us again.

No it was Trevor Wood. Sat in the main stand with an Orient supporter and had a good chin wag about following lower league clubs. He even bought me a pint at half time. He commented on Wood's outstanding performance.

Trevor Wood signed for us in 1988 I think from Brighton, he wasn't there then certainly.

Just checked and that 3-0 defeat at Orient in October 1983 was Chris Pearce's debut. I think it may have been a Friday night match as well.

What ever happened to the Leek Travelling Valiants ? I remember a double decker bus used by them parked up on Hamil Rd after the games.
