He wasn't let go. He rejected a contract offer of 2 years. Still, why let facts get in the way?

You get your facts George, cos he could not stand Adam in fact he detested him.....After Adams told the media he was a COWARD after his silly sending off......MA should have substituted that word for 'reckless' maybe...

A brave, promising player and a fine professional, wish him all the best. Won't go into the departure again.

Had a couple of issues to iron out but which young footballer and young man doesn't at that age. I fully expect Chesterfield to get promoted this season and it looks like Sam will be an integral part of it. Assembled an impressive side there.

Think he will flourish under Cook.

How many more people are going to say; "we shouldn't have let him go" ??? HE REJECTED A 2 YEAR CONTRACT!!!

The thing that should have happened, was he should have been nurtured and not just be made a scapegoat/cast-off because of a couple of bad challenges. Did Wigan cast Callum McManaman aside, after his horrific challenge last season? No. I don't want to keep blaming Micky on most things, but he got this one wrong, IMO.

Good luck to him. I'd have him in this side all day long.

Good luck to Sam and good to see he is doing well at Chesterfield. IMO he was not good enough to stay on based on his overall performances (unlike some other players who have performed similarly for Vale but have managed to stay on). However Adams treated him badly (and wrongly IMO) after the Rochdale game. Yes he made a stupid mistake that probably cost us 2 points but that was it. Other players have cost us in games for different reasons and yet were not castigated in public as Morsy was.

Overall it is too early to say it was a mistake to let him go but if he carries on in the same vain for Chesterfield, letting him go could end up with Adams having egg on his face.

So you've studued the terms and been present at his discussions with Gladys then?

Have you?

It was a fact he was offered a 2 year deal and it was a fact it was on more money than his previous contract (it had to be for us to receive any compensation for him).

More than his last contract but not enough. This guy is the only player to come out of our absolute dog **** youth system that will go on to be bigger and better than Vale's level so what happens? He goes on a free, what is the point in Vale having youths or reserves on the load of boolocks development squad? Crewe make millions but we give them away after money is spent on development, brilliant that is Vale all down to one egotistical manager worrying about a player a player who may steal the limelight.
