Agreed, so you are saying they would look to cause trouble with Wolves/Police....And its not compulsory to to fight at football matches, that went out out in the 90's

Not condoning the violence in any way, shape or form. but yes, they were obviously out to cause trouble with Wolves, hence my statement, if there were no wolves fans, ie they were being kept behind in the ground, then they woul'nt have been able to, however much they intended to couse trouble.

As for causing trouble with police, how much was it vale fans or how much did the police cause.

Have you seen the videos on You Tube' date=' some of those 'people' posing as fans of our club would start a fight with themselves by punching themselves repeatedly, there isn't a word stupid enough for some of them? ;)[/quote']

Who's to say those scumbags fans wouldn't have used it to simply put themselves into position for when Wolves fans were released.

The point is if people weren't mindless morons no-one would have needed to have been kept in aftter the match.

Clearly the Police have to reassess for the next game but the bottom line is - no scum, no trouble.

The police simply just leave it for 15 mins lets the street clear off the masses.Any left waiting around, loitering are then moved on.The police could also simply escort the Wolves fans out on their coaches and bus them that arrived on train to the ........... train station.

The away fans would be still inside the ground.

The decent law abiding fans would have cleared the area and gone home, leaving maybe 80- 100 yobs who could then have been rounded up much easier than if they were mingling with 12500 other people. Its not rocket science.

Its not rocket science but its way to difficult for some.

Seems like Bristol city v Bristol rovers hasn't gone off too well either tonight nearly 18000 fans in the ground and a pitch invasion turns sour

Go on the city forums and there is a repeat of fans condemning their own fans on the forums we,ll have to send some of our upstanding citizens to sort them out!!

It's a society problem and as I've said earlier it happens up and down the country ....wonder if they had a wall and let all the fans out at the same time?

Have a look at this video, look close at around 30 - 40 seconds.Copper screams move then with both hands on his truncheon smacks someone with it.Where could this guy have gone, did this guy know 100% that the copper was talking to him, could have been talking(screaming to anyone of about 30 people?

Someone else spotted this and pointed it out elsewhere.

there is always the exception fella, thankfully I've never managed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time

Neither had I thankfully it was ok but my point is that it could and damn well should have been avoided. Surely the role of the police is to protect honest law abiding citizens first and foremost. They were lucky it could have been a disaster. They spend enough time videoing the little ****s who are causing the trouble I just hope that they pick them up and make them pay.

I agree that I too am a little unhappy with Smurf's statement. Whilst I know there is a sizeable bunch of brain dead Vale fans, there is so at every club. It is always difficult to police an area like Burslem and there will always be isolated incidents. For the trouble against Wolves to have made national news though is absolutely ridiculous. I had friends from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and London both texting me because they'd heard about it. Going back also to the racism article in the Daily Mirror following the Bradford game. That again was totally biased and intent on branding Vale as a racist club.

Is it me or is there some sort of conspiracy here? Every club has fans who will let out the odd racist remark or make inappropriate chants every now and then, unfortunately, and every club with a decent following will have a percentage of trouble makers. It seems to me that the whole thing is an after shock of the Bradford racism thing making BBC news and now, all eyes are on us and waiting for any little mishap in order to further this negative reputation. The police will also jump on the opportunity to start policing all of our games. I bet they will police Coventry like they did Wolves, and justify it on the basis of the trouble they played a good part in escalating.

Exactly my thoughts still, it's not the police's fault or wolves. It's all vales according to some of our fans

Hope the police dogs were fed well enough before the match.
