Pete's Funeral

Jimmy

Recommended Posts

It was indeed a very fitting tribute to a lovely bloke! Very emotional day. Lisa and Pete's family did wonderfully well under such trying circumstances. Even little Freddie was playing his part. Lisa said he'd been kicking all day :D

As we all went into say goodbye to Pete they were playing 'Just can't get enough' ...fabulous. There were memories in the form of readings from D ick and Judy, Pete's parents and Fran, his sister and of course Lisa. Three of Pete's friends also shared their memories of Pete with us. I'll never ever forget hearing PSB and 'Spitfire'. Heard it before but it was never as fitting as today. We then all said our private goodbyes to Pete while 'Blowing in the Wind' was sung by Mr Dylan. The following poem was then read..

The Measure of a Man

Not how did he die, but how did he live?

Not what did he gain, but what did he give?

These are the units to measure the worth

Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

Not what was his church, nor what was his creed?

But had he befriended those really in need?

Was he ever ready with word of good cheer,

To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?

Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say

But how many were sorry when he passed away.

We left to ...of course, what else but The Wonder of You

Sorry if this is rather a long post but I do know there we're some who couldn't be there today who wanted to be. Just thought it'd be nice to sort of share what I could of today.

Sleep well Pete my friend xxx

I would just like to finish by saying what a fantastic turnout for Pete's Funeral......I would also like to thank Wendy and her Staff yesterday in Tommy's for Great service and the Caterers for a delicious Buffet.....Another chapter closed now, but not forgotten.......RIP Pete. x

On a lighter note, the lass running the service was very good, very well spoken and professional and a tidy bit of skirt! She did the service of another friend a few days before Christmas.

Although I do hope it's a long time before I see her again.

Lovely to catch up with you yesterday Ian and trade memories of Pete together.. I don't think that ball pool in Morecambe will ever be the same without Pete in it... and nor will the two of us ever forget him in it

Sadly all we have are memories now, but I look forward to raising a glass to Pete and celebrating our memories of the Legend that is Tindall

I know tomorrow is going to be difficult for you, but keep smiling and get his flag up for him.. you know that's what he'd want x

A lovely funeral because it celebrated all of the aspect of Pete’s life that contributed to making him the person he was. A very poignant speech from his Sister Fran, you could see how much he meant to her, and a few tears from even the most unlikely of us myself included.

I thought it was well summed up by his friend Mick who asked people to keep his memory alive by thinking of Pete every time you help someone or do a good deed. I’m sure that’s what he would want.

Having his seat empty behind me in the paddock just doesn’t seem right. Rest easy good Friend. Missing you already.

That was without doubt the most moving funeral that I have ever attended. The love and respect for a cracking lad just flowed and everyone who spoke highlighted Pete's many virtues.

It's so sad but in truth Pete packed more into his 47 years than most ever will if they lived to reach 100.

Nothing more to add that hasn't already been said. His family and close friends came across as a beautiful, warm, inteligent and close family. The tributes endorsed what a caring, compassionate, thoughtful fella Pete was. A difficult day no doubt but but one in the knowledge that Pete lived life to the fullest extent and seemed to have crammed so much in.

It's difficult not to be inspired by his application to life and that his enthusiasm, tollerancd and ultra kindness is something that gives me a bench mark to aim for.

Bon voyage kind soul.
