Pa**** Cisse

I'm a little dubious about Cisse's motives here. He spent all last season with Virgin Money on his shirt and did not appear to have a problem with it. He is known to like a drink, in contravention of Islamic law, and is living with a lass to whom he isn't married. I am cynical enough to suspect that his "ethical" stand has rather more to do with his desire for a rise/transfer than any real religious motive.

Spot on.

Another manufactured move probably initiated by his agent.

Whether it is religious or not, it does raise the issue of where to draw the line regarding shirt sponsorship. I notice Bolton dropped a payday loan company as their sponsors for next season after supporter protests

I'm not sure football at present is in a position to take a moral high ground against loan companies. The cisse thing is hypocritical to the extreme, as I mentioned earlier, he has a bank account with a money lender I'm sure, and I would hazard a guess that he gets paid interest which is the moral issue with money lending here. He is apparently willing to wear a charities logo on the shirt, so I'd be interested if he is willing to give any interest on his wealth to the same charity. If he refuses to wear it, the don't pay his wages, as this is what pays it. If it went to court he'd get taken to the cleaners with all his hypocrisy that I'm certain he wouldn't want brought up in a public court.

He is happy to play in the Barclays premier league and the money that comes with it. I'm certain they make more profit from lending than wonga do.

Agree, just a way to engineer a move away. Two other muslim players have no problem with it.

He might have, but most major banks do 'Islam friendly' accounts plus there are banks specific to Islam which from all we know he may be using

So you can't be sure

Possibly not..whether that be cos he banks with an 'Islam friendly bank' or has a non-interest bearing account with a 'normal' bank

Even Virgin Money offers Islam friendly services

Hiowever the stance on Wonga seems at odds with the stance on Virgin Money
