No he didn't,he had 2 players on the line so for me it was perfectly blasted into the roof of the net.... that should hopefully give him much needed confidence going into the last 8 games and also give him breathing space from the fans which will also help him imo

A MASSIVE well done Lofty lad

You’re absolutely right. The behind the goal cam shows it well that defender would have blocked it if he went low so it was the one place he could hit it and the percentages were in his favour. Really well done.

Was a great save by Blackman too in fairness to him. He was copping it from the Vale fans all second half.

If anyone wants an omen Lofty in the shooting practise warmup has nailed a couple of beauts. Less said about some of the attempts from the rest the better… god loves a trier though!

Far be it from me to take all the credit for Loftys goal but what do you know 😎

And by the way if come the summertime transfer thread anyone thinks of suggesting Hudlin as an option this summer please everyone just give it short shrift. Looked like the quintessential competition winner when he came on he did.

  3. That was thoroughly deserved for us, am so pleased we got it done today. Seemed the team played with a bit more aggression and grit. Loft was excellent with his workrate and winning aerial contests. The goal he scored it was well done by him on the build up getting it to Chizzy in the first place and also following up on the rebound. Buy a ticket win the raffle, hopefully this can be something for him to build on.

Thought the away support was brilliant today, backed the team the whole way and when Loft missed in the first half people just backed him more which pleased me. Real genius from the Burton fans behind the goal throwing a flare on the pitch after our goal.

  4. Should Loft have scored yes but beyond that he’s done a decent job for us so I think it’s really off some of these comments quite frankly.

We’re in the game at least and hopefully should have the wind second half. Quick request to the team in future right on half time just boot it clear and not try some intricate move off a goal kick. That could have made things very different.

Its a difficult task picking the players. Is there currently such a thing as a strong Vale side? Just listening to Sproey  on the radio , he reckons this is our best side from what is available.

It’s a good point to be honest. Don’t think there’s been a combo that hasn’t been tried and all have had roughly the same effect bar fleeting moments.

Guess at this point we’re unlikely to see Dan Gore either. You’d have thought given the length of time he’s been out they as well have announced terminating his loan. They did with the one from Liverpool.

The interview with Darren Moore showed he's a good coach. There was a lot of techniques mentioned he's using to boost low confidence. It's something hard to do in sport. He's obviously doing things to shore up the defending and working on the attacking play. I'm pleased he's the manager.

But the bottom line is the players need to step up to the level required. If you leave strikers in L1 unmarked, they are much more likely to score than in L2. When attacking, a L1 defence is much better than a L2 defence. There is gulf and we need to bridge it now - not soon - now. Today is just such a big game. I hope PV find the battling qualities and improve by way of taking in the coaching given.

The team selected must be solid at the back first of all. If Burton are a direct team it's the players who best handle that. In front of goal we must start taking our chances.

Don’t disagree that DM and his coaching staff may well be very good but ultimately you can only get so much out of the players you have. Just look at our set piece defending. I am pretty certain they’ll have done extensive work on it but the same old issues are arising and it costs us game after game. To get some semblance of organisation / defence against corners should be one of the easiest things to sort out for them but these players are incapable. Starting with the captain.

I've a feeling that the players might have downed tools after Crosby was sacked to get flitcroft out. Today we will see if we actually have a team of players or whether we need a total rebuild in league 2. My hope is that they've decided to return to how they played in August and September and we owe Burton one. They will know they owe us, dazza and carol a performance.

We’ll see today. My feeling is they just are what they’ve been rather than downing tools. It’s the same type of goal they concede and teams all attack us the same way now. Basically we’ve been found out with our weaknesses and powerless to counter it.

I hope they prove me wrong but as I said earlier until they show me otherwise I just have no faith in any of them.

  8. Right decision, thanks to him for appointing DC and the promotion but a series of bad decisions since meant things just could not carry on. Had already cost Andy Crosby his job and was just no justification for him to remain in situ.

We’ll see what comes next but ultimately the reason we are in this mess falls on the Shanahans, vital they get this right now.

  9. It’s a great feather in the cap for him. Think this might also be more an indictment of his teammates but he’s been the one attacker since the Fleetwood game that has made a positive impact each time. Very pleased for him even if it means we’re without him Saturday.

  10. Firstly congrats to young Baylee, a nice achievement for him. I think he is someone who seems to have come on as a player in the last month or so and is one of few who can hold their heads high in this squad. Guess this means we are without him Saturday though which is not so good.

  11. Made an impulse decision on Saturday before the game to get a ticket for this. If I'd come to my senses and realised the shower of <ovf censored> they were about to show against Oxford I wouldn't have bothered. Got no faith in this team getting a result until they show me they can. My guess is we'll start well again for 10 minutes or so and then they will get a corner and fill in the blank from there.

As I parked up I noticed how much easier it was to do so. Walked in to Lorne st foyer, noticeably quieter. Sat in my usual seat , plenty of empty ones around me. Had the banter with mates around me totally bored with what was going on football wise. Was one of the many who left 5 mins early and heard the loud shouts of Flitcroft out as I walked passed the old Goose pub. I hope you witnessed the same events as I did Carol. You are killing your customer base.

It seemed there was a lot more people more interested in just looking at their phones than what was on the pitch. I was one of them.

Only time I did get really agitated second half Baylee Dipepa had picked up the ball in what for any other team could be a dangerous area but no Vale player even thought to make a run to help him and instead he was hung out to dry with three Oxford players around him and no Vale player in sight. That to me showed there are players who've quit.
