Brutal defeat for Kelly tonight. Good call by the corner to throw in the towel especially after the Warrington fight.

I like Kelly but could tell straight away he was gonna tank early on. Went for it in the early rounds and paid for it especially against a quality fighter like Avaneson.

Nowhere near as good as he believed he was. He looks great against poor opponents but doesn't have the power or defense to take him beyond European level. Needs improve massively if he's to ever get near to a word title.

Game performance by Luke Campbell, I felt that left hook to the body myself.

He's a very good fighter. Probably lacks a bit of knockout power which is what has kept him just below the world-class level.

Garcia will be superb to watch, although I think he's going to be someone who will end up with a fair few L's on his record down the line.

Very interesting fight tonight between Luke Campbell and American pin up boy Ryan Garcia. Its only £2 to watch on DAZN UK, and the fight despite being in America will be on around 11pm our time instead of the usual 4 or 5am in the morning!

Campbell is a very good, solid fighter and is the best fighter Garcia has faced yet by far, but Garcia looks pound for pound material, albeit against lesser fighters. Will be interesting to see of Campbell somewhat exposes in or whether he's blown away by Garcia and the hype is justified. You don't beat Luke Campbell unless you're world-class.

I'd go with Joe too, just. But we've seen Calzaghe get in trouble in a couple of fights, and Froch was superb at getting people out of there when he got them hurt. I wouldn't say it was any more than 60/40 in Calzaghe's favour. Calzaghe wasn't much of a puncher at all, although his volume was outstanding. But Froch would know he can just continue to come forward and walk through anything Joe throws at him, and I believe at some point he would get to Calzaghe. Joe was tough though, and I could see him surviving a couple of hairy moments and winning on points.

Froch had a much better resume it's worth mentioning too, even if he wasn't the better fighter.

It's going to end in tears (and perhaps a concussion too) for Fury unfortunately. He very nearly put on a masterclass last time out (in their first fight) and I can't see him doing that again now that Wilder knows what he's about after sharing a ring with him. Wilder will be more patient this time around. If Fury tries to sit down on his punches more believing that he can take Wilder out he won't last 3/4 rounds.

  6. Linares/Lomachemko was a phenomenal fight, Loma is most probably the best pound for pound fighter around at the mo. He has incredible boxing skills and amazing footwork. Some very tasty fights for him like Gervonta Davis or Mikey Garcia.

Agree with that, though he needs to stay away from Mikey Garcia. I want that fight to be made as it would be a cracking fight, right up until Garcia knocks him out.

  7. As a long time fan it was quite sad to see David Hate physically breaking apart at the weekend again. I like Tony Bellew, and also think he's a better fighter than most seem willing to give him credit for, but had he fought the Haye of 5 or 6 years ago the only question that would have needed to be asked was what round Bellew would be taking a nap. Haye has always relied on his agility, reflexes and power, and the first two of those have now long gone which means he's a sitting duck against any good fighter.

I hope the bloke does the sensible thing and retired instead of doing a Roy Jones Jr. David actually makes a great pundit when he's not talking about himself, so he should concentrate on that, as Carl Froch is doing, along with his own Hayemaker Promotions.

  8. Terence Crawford is a tremendous boxer but most of his time and wins have been at Light Welter, it would be a great fight and I'm sure it will happen. My money would be on Spence, he's the bigger guy and Golovkin..esque in the ring.

There wasn't that much weight difference between Brook and Golovkin when they fought. They both walk around at about the same weight but Kell Brook is special in that he can make weight at 147ibs, re-hydrate up to 160-165 and still retain his stamina for a fight, he's a big welterweight physically.

Kell may have been mentally scarred from the Glovkin fight but if memory serves me right he was doing well vs Spence for the first 4 or 5 rounds. IMHO Spence is a special talent and also physically big for a Welterweight so no surprise to me that he won and did similar damage to Golovkin but to the other eye.

I had Brook up by 3 I think after the first 7 before Spence got on top. I still think the damage and mental scars Brook received against Golovkin had a big influence on the result in his fight with Spence, although he only has himself to blame for getting in the ring with GGG in the first place. He had no right to be.

What do you make of the upcoming fight between Eubank and Groves? I like both and could make a case for either men winning.

  9. Terence Crawford would have his way with Spence if that fight got made. Spence is good at what he does but Crawford is a much more rounded and naturally gifted fighter.

If Brook hadn't of stupidly jumped up two weight divisions to fight Golovkin and ultimately get his face caved in he would have also more than likely have beaten Spence.

  10. Can't agree with the above though. If Fury gets himself in shape he makes Joshua miss for the majority of the fight before piling it on late on. Fury would be too quick and too smart, though in boxing it only takes one punch to change the whole flow of a fight.

I'd favor a fit and switched on Fury 60/40, but certainly would't be confident enough to bet on it.

  11. Amazing fight and event.

Joshua showed heart, balls and recovery that I wasn't sure he had in him. He was so done from rounds 5 to 9 and could barely stand upright and throw a punch. Clearly he needs to find a better balance in regards to his muscle mass so he doesn't punch himself out again, or at least be more controlled when going for the finish, but yo can't nit be left impressed by the young man.

Wlad fought the best fight he's for in Donkeys years and had he probably thrown caution to the wind when he had Joshua hurt he might have gotten him out of there, as AJ was gone. Both blokes are a massive credit to the sport and boxing as a whole was the real winner last night.

  12. I'll look out for Haye-Bellew.

Carl Frampton lost on points last night to Leo Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz is a taller guy with much longer reach, he controlled the fight with his jab, he didn't get into a brawl with Frampton as in the first fight. Seems like they plan to do it again perhaps in Belfast. Incredible atmosphere at the MGM Grand in Vegas which only possibly a Brit fighting in Vegas can generate.

Can't wait for the Golovkin-Jacobs fight, I anticipate Golovkin will be much more measured as he was against David Lemieux rather than the gung ho approach he took against Kell Brook.

I like Bellew, more for his personality than his actual boxing ability, but Haye wins that fight when it suits him. It's a bit of a farce fight really, though I'll certainly watch it.

  13. I've heard of Golovkin and Brook, but not Glovkin or Brooks.

Really entertaining fight. Eubank is a world-class offensive fighter, but if he's to fulfil all of his potential he needs to get away from Snr. I'd like to see him take on Canelo this year in a fight I can see make a strong case for him winning.

If he fought Golovkin any time soon it would be really entertaining for the few rounds it lasted. GGG would counter every time Eubank loaded up and it would be lights out at some point, despite Jnr's strong set of whiskers. If he continues to improve and fights him 12 months or so down the line, with a win over someone like Canelo behind him, then he might stand some sort of a chance.

  14. Chisora/Whyte was the highlight of the evening, a FOTY contender., but

Joshua did what he needed to do, nothing more, nothing less. He should be too fresh for Klitshcko, but it's a big leap from Molina to Wladimir and it will probably come down to who lands the first bomb.
