  1. I did post something similar a few weeks back, the youth players would benefit possibly by relegation in getting game time and they have the ability at that level, plus we have many of our best players contracted so they either have to stay in L2 or we sell for decent money... However the events of the last couple of weeks have left me very worried now as we seem to have lost all control and direction, we need to ensure the management appointment is right enough that we can see them at worst not keeping us up but having the capability to have us back up next year.
  2. Not sure what everyone is moaning about, we are getting a new building on the training ground with a gym and office space... will be the best in League Two. So frustrated at the moment.
  3. It mentions all the good stuff, which is correct and he deserves credit for BUT doesn't mention any of the failings which need addressing and which have turned the fan base on him.
  4. I would get Troy Deeney in as a relatively match fit striker option but not manager surely? I thought yesterday the game was similar to Portsmouth, let Orient have most of the ball and play, got lucky they couldn't finish and we didnt really have a go until injury time when we probably should of got an undeserved equaliser. Battled first half in fairness but second half we looked flat and once the goal went in gave up.
  5. The cup run maybe hasn't helped as we could of played the re-arranged games during that period without it which may have resulted in a more positive points total with Ollie, Devine, Garrity etc available. Problems is we are in this run with an injury hit squad with zero confidence and no leadership.
  6. Loft did well first half, won everything in the air and dominated his centre half... problem was no one ran off the flick on's or linked up with him... Wilson has been terrible for 2-3 games now and Chislett has nose dived form wise. Booing Loft was bonkers... there were 8 or 9 worse performers last night.
  7. The best outcome here would be heavy snow. Least the weekend would be ruined. We are asking for a battering considering Pompey and Orient both should of hit 5-6 we won't keep getting away with that.
  8. I would say whilst in balance he has done a lot of good at the club his position has now become untenable, the past year have been a complete disaster. Once you lose this fan base you don't get it back and he has lost the fan base.
  9. Kennedy didn't lose many as Lincoln boss, less losses than he won so thats a positive! He could of been there as a scout for someone though.
  10. Could badly backfire, surely makes sense for him to do it for a couple of weeks with his experience.
  11. As a coach he is excellent, as a manager he is not hence I expect he will go back to being a coach.
  12. Its a completely different animal coaching the kids to the first team though, its night and day. Its on a wing and a prayer this one but what worries me most is the statement the club put out seems to suggest they will take their time over getting a manager in... we dont have time.
  13. Gamble in one aspect that, real gamble but in fairness to Will he has done excellent with the youth side hasn't he. Different to making in game changes and tactical decisions in L1 though...
  14. Its not a departure i take any pleasure in, Crosby did a magnificent job in terrible circumstances in 2022 and without his run in March/April we dont make the top 7, he is a top bloke and I was praying things would work out for him here but they haven't and we have to move on. He is a fantastic coach, losing that side of it will be a blow as we improved massively when he came in during the covid season but wish him all the very best and deserves plaudits for his time in caretaker charge.
  15. Assume with Crosby taking training yesterday we will play a similar way to usual with similar XI as we wont have had any sessions to even try and tweak things.
  16. I think the club need to communicate (as i keep arching back to) on what the plan is now... There are two ways about this... we either get a permanent manager in for the long term, or we get a temporary one in and look to recruit full time in the summer. The issue we have is we have a way of wanting to play etc that the club are pushing however at the moment thats no what we need, at the moment we need to scrap and battle our way out of this situation so I would suggest we get in a quick "Firefighter of a manager" who is experienced, offer them good money if we have to but incentive based so say right 12 weeks work, we will give you £35k for it and a bonus on top of £25k if you keep us up for example. A Chris Hughton or someone like that maybe. This way you have 12 weeks to find the right long term appointment that can build the philosophy you want. I'd be wary about getting in someone who's going to keep trying to play pretty football with this current squad he has in the hope of out footballing terms as that will be relegation.
  17. What about Nathan Rooney? Was here previously and now very highly rated, all be it in Gibraltar but was linked with one of the recent vacancies in the EFL.
  18. I would rather Flitcroft took it until we hire someone as he is at least more experienced than Dunn. Only hope with Dunn is the caretaker job he did at Blackpool was decent so a repeat of 7 points in 4 games would be most welcome!
  19. Just feel an "inconvenience" at the moment as a fan and that should never be the case. Will rattle up the M1/A50 after work tomorrow hoping things start to change though! As we all care, I don't expect good times all the time, if your a Vale fan your not signing up for that when you choose us as your team but at the least to see us trying to be better even if it doesn't come off but at the moment I just feel like an inconvenience where we only get spoken to when they have to.
  20. Happened 3 times now: Chaltenham followed by the Mansfield Win Stevenage in the Cup follows by Wigan Barnsley in the league followed by Blackpool
  21. I have given myself 2 days to calm down and try and look at the events of the last 4-5 days objectively and here is my view on it... The blame has to start at the very top but is also a collective, so many errors or failings are happening that its not just on one person. Since 5pm on January the 1st 2023 we have won 11 league games in 13 months, 5 of those in a month spell August/Sept, and 3 of them in a 3 week spell in December, that leaves 3 wins in the other 7-8 months of football played over the 2 seasons. That is dire in itself. Everything done previously since the take over in 2019 is slowly undoing due to a lack of communication, lack of investment in the correct area's and we really run the risk of sitting here in 12 months time and being back slogging it out to scrape the 40-50 points we need to stay in the football league with how it is going with 4500 fans in the ground. Lets be blunt here, V2001 came in as saviours but that went sour, as did Smurf for a while so we have been burnt as a fan base before, now I am not suggesting in any way Carol and Kevin are heading that same route, I dont believe for one minute that but just because you saved the club etc doesn't mean you should be beyond criticism and some fans still seem to have this "well they saved us so its ok" attitude. I am forever grateful to Carol and Kevin for saving us and for the great time's we've had 2021 into 2022 and the enjoyable first season 2019/20 but we can't hide from the here and now based on the past, we are regressing as a club massively, for some reason in January 2023 everything seems to have changed and I don't understand why? Take out the two awful transfer windows in the two January's but the whole place comes across as apathetic and its rubbing off on the fans, you've long term loyal fans giving up almost on us, the whole atmosphere around the place from top to bottom including fans now seems apathetic, I was out walking in Derbyshire Saturday (not the best time to be stood on rock overhanging a sheer drop checking the score I will be honest!) but I thought "Why am I bothered?, if the club isn't?" thats the feeling I have, that they are not bothered that we are 5th bottom and nose diving, they've done little to turn it around or try to turn it around, there has been little to no communication for the fans at all anymore (the odd fans forum every 3-4 months isn't good enough), we all stayed up expecting the signing we were told we would get (Striker) for it just to not happen... no communication. Something is massively wrong at the moment, no one knows what it is but something has to be very wrong and the longer it goes on, with no change, no communication the more rumours will develop and that is no good for anyone. Crosby is out his depth, Flitcroft has failed for a second transfer window in 3 and Carol and the board make the top decisions, its on all three, the players who by their apologies on social media clearly didn't feel they put enough in have to take some flack too. Things have to change and fast, if not there will be no "Championship Ready" no "7-8000 attendances, and we will be back welcoming 200 fans from Barrow and Harrogate rather than 3000 Wednesday and Derby fans. At the moment the general fan is being let down... and thats not something I expected in this regime, we have portaloo's, no communication... dont forget the real fan, the one thats been coming 50 years, or travels up every week from London, Cambridge, Leicestershire etc, they are your bread and butter and without them there is no Port Vale Football Club regardless of how nice the corporate facilities are and how good the youth players are. Lets wake up from this sleepwalk we are on and get the club back that we had in 2022.
  22. We've just lost to two worst sides in division! Fancy us tomorrow night though, Crosby always seems to pull a result out when hes by a thread! Doesn't change anything long term though.
  23. They've had some of these players for weeks and still not improved, their fans seem on forums more to feel its built with L2 next season in mind. Fleetwood similar in getting rid of high earners to replace with loan youngsters.
  24. The only gimmer of hope I can see if that we played Wilson up front early season on his own when we were winning week in week out for that spell so could we make it work with Chislett and Mighten in behind (or Weir). We need to try and pick up 4-5 points in the next fortnight and hope Funso is back for the rest to give us some hope but a lot of pressure now on JW29.
  25. Vale have posted positive news, all be it the famous 2 weeks line for Funso being able to start a game.
