  1. Flickers not got wikipedia open??
  2. My guess is we set our stand too high, refused to pay the over inflated fees earlier in the month and then had a deal lined up on deadline day that relied on another club making a change which didn't happen - not leaving enough time to pivot. There has to be lessons learnt from this though. And it doesn't excuse the left back issue. Surely we could have loaned Gibbons in until the end of the season on a cheap enough deal. He wasn't my first choice but better than nothing?!??
  3. I'll get behind the club again with a good experienced managerial appointment I don't care if it's an interim or long term
  4. The statement asks for fans to stop chants asking for him to go - do you think it's the right thing to do that? (Stop the chants) Do you think it's reasonable to expect fans who are staying away or keeping their cash in their pocket (e.g. Bez on ale and vale) to start pumping their money back in? I do agree it's a right old mess now but her statement has made it a hell of a lot worse for everyone.
  5. No money from me until he is gone
  6. Players who should play Ripley in goal Polish lad at centre back Ojo as holding midfielder Chis centrally behind striker Wilson as the poacher like he was against Swindon and Mansfield in playoffs Mighton as a left sided winger Then build the rest of the team around them and that system. I think its 4 2 3 1 personally Ripley Lowe / Smith / Polish lad / Jones Ojo / Walters Massey (if we had any other option I would) / Chis / Mighton Wilson Subs; Rotweiler Dipepa Debrah Sang Loft Shorrock Weir
  7. Just read some articles about Gary Bowyer. I don't know how realistic it would be but; Did the Salford job on an interim basis and did well. Football described as pragmatic - exactly what we need right now. Got sacked from Salford due to unrealistic expectations and they haven't done any better since he went Managed in league two previously - not scared of lower league football Did a good job in Scotland and won manager of the year and left because he wouldn't give them certainty in the next window. He's from Manchester originally and has worked in the northwest Free agent currently - doesn't need any compensation He's a good pick for an interim with a clear target if he wants the job full time this is what we expect.
  8. I've been through a few relegations and never felt like this. This rot started last January and kicked into gear when DF decided he needed to cover his arse and blame the only experienced football manager out.
  9. 35/1 in May when I said we would get relegated is looking pretty good right now.
  10. Why did loft snatch at that? If he scored that it was goal of the season. I really want him to do well
  11. I'm torn between putting my cash into the statue as I stated I would until they were all gone OR backing Ryder tonight.
  12. Almost all of the players brought in that season have gone; George Lloyd Ben Garrity Ryan Johnson Lucas Covolan Danny Amos Aaron Martin Jamie Proctor Dan Jones Tom Pett Dennis Politic Lewis Cass Mal Benning James Wilson Brad Walker Aidan Stone The ones that haven't are our best players. If you thought it was a bad decision to get rid of the players in that first summer then you must be tearing your hair out at the number of players brought in since. The squad assembled that summer is 100 times better than the one we have now.
  13. I agree to a point. I do give him credit for the first window - it was brave to rip everything up and start again with a brand-new squad. Since we joined league one though it's been piss-poor. No doubt its more difficult to do, no doubt it was hard to recruit for league one with such a small turnaround, but we knew right from the off what we needed that summer and we didn't bring it in (goalkeeper). We had a dreadful January last year that nearly cost us our place in the league by not strengthening properly and then in the summer we continued not to plug the extremely obvious gaps we had. To then do it again this January is criminal and that's where the faith runs out I am afraid. Even if we didn't get the players we wanted there should have been plan X Y Z which resulted in a youth loan player coming in to fill the gap - the absolute minimum required was a u21 left back and striker from the prem league. To not sign anyone is just negligence and he has to go for it.
  14. This is ofcourse just my opinion but I have been tracking transfer windows since Flickcroft came in; Copy of Port Vale transfer analysis - Google Sheets DOCS.GOOGLE.COM I have 2 bad signings in the summer of 2021, 3 in the winter of 2022, 10 in the summer of 2022, 1 in the winter of 2023, 7 last summer and 3 this winter with lots of question marks. In my opinion, our recruitment is getting worse with a few lucky punts thrown in.
  15. On my list for sure in the summer if they don't get promoted. However, signed a new contract in December and as you mentioned has always been down south (furthest he's ever been even as a player is Northampton)
  16. There are much better options in non-league than a random ex-player who is a long way down the pyramid - sorry - it's a clear no from me. That goes for almost every ex-player. and coaches / ex-coaches making the step up to stick with the current system. Firstly, we need to tell Flickcroft he's gone at the end of the season and begin the search for his replacement. The same goes for the two flowerpot men he bought along for the ride. Next, we need to appoint an interim manager as soon as possible to keep us in the league. If he/she wants to be considered (not automatically hired) for the job next season they need to accumulate 1.5pts per game between now and the end of the season. Keeping us up isn't going to cut it. This should be someone who has experience in keeping teams in the league, working with the players they have and making us hard to beat. Nothing pretty, no philosophy, just graft. The DOF can begin working on the summer transfer window, recruiting an experienced manager and coaching staff. We have only had success with managers when we have hired experienced ones in the last 20 years. They don't need to have gone around the block, but they have some league experience, a winning mentality, charisma, and someone we can all get behind.
  17. I mentioned him earlier. Left his job in December and has a track record of quick results. If he has moved back I don't see why not Please not Whitehead and Murray.
  18. Simon Grayson as interim? He's free from working in India (left job in December) he's fairly local (northerner) and has a track record of turning teams round early on when appointed. It's not a long term appointment but I think he would do a job until the summer when a proper rebuild can take place.
  19. I actually think it should be flickcroft as interim manager. They are his players - he's so good at his job he's assembled the squad - he can fix this <ovf censored> himself. Poor Adkins did it at Tranmere.
  20. I think we need an interim manager and appoint a new one in summer with a new DOF. Who - I have absolutely no idea. We should have never been put in this situation at the end of last season. It Clarke had to go then we should have opened it up at the end of the season for a new team to come in
  21. I really don't think it is realistic to see DF go until the summer.
  22. You'll have to search for the pod and follow it again, they've changed where it's hosted. Got it! Thanks Rory!
  23. Don't know how to get in touch with the guys but the Podbean app isn't updating - I thought they had just gone quiet but then when you posted I checked Apple podcasts and saw there must be an issue - can someone let me know if there is a fix?
  24. A win seems to buy him a few more weeks - if we really need to lose tomorrow to get a new manager than I hope we lose as at least we have a chance to stay up without him as manager
