  1. Moore just needs a break. Everyone keeps saying we're down but is still getting upset at losing matches. There are enough games for us to turn this around so I'm gonna keep hoping - and I'm gonna be upset when we don't get the points we need. But I've also stopped watching games, I'm not wasting my money not enjoying my Saturdays and Tuesdays. Maybe I'll get behind the club again next season if DF has gone.
  2. I said it in the summer and was told I was being stupid as we hadn't assembled a squad or kicked a ball - but it was pretty obvious where this was heading
  3. I'd retire to an island somewhere and watch the games on ifollow if I were her
  4. Seems like the old arguing with idiots / loosing battle phrase can be used here
  5. The cost us at the start of the season and they've cost us even more since January
  6. 18th is 3 spots above relegation - it's not brilliant but we're underperforming Vs the budget
  7. Totally. I'm being objective and I think it could be argued that a better manager would have gotten this squad to midtable with a half decent striker instead of Uche and Loft and a left back replacing Benning. The rest bought in have been poor signings but together as a whole they were good enough for lower midtable.
  8. It matters none what order they're in. They all need to be achieved or his job should be under review.
  9. I don't think the squad was too bad at the start of the season. We signed Loft on deadline day which was a mistake and knowing we needed one more, signed Uche which was also a mistake. We were also missing a left back after letting Benning go. With a half decent manager and coaching staff and DF had brought in a left back for Bennings wage and a better striker on deadline day combining Uche and Lofts wages we'd be sitting comfortably in mid table. The biggest mistake was not interviewing for the managers job last summer and getting a full reset
  10. Why do you think the budget is so poor? Seems to be anywhere from 10th to 18th (which I think would be the realistic goal of where we'd have liked to have finished this season when asked in the summer)
  11. What targets would you have set DF last summer? My thoughts Stay within budget for season Bring in players that have potential sell on value Develop X3 youth team players into first teamers Build squad capable of avoiding a relegation battle I think they are realistic goals that can be put at the foot of the DOFs door. He isn't responsible for actual results on the pitch as he can blame the manager to some extent. If those were his goals, I think he has achieved every one of them minus the relegation squad. Although, if Moore gets a few wins we might even get there.
  12. Congrats to Carol and Kevin. No expectations on my side for future investment - I actually want a sustainable football if that is even possible these days.
  13. Instead of saying how lucky we are to have such a good manager let's stick to the target - if DM can keep us up hes done a great job. If he can't, he's failed. Not necessarily his fault, and not necessarily worth sacking him for it. That can be judged at the end of the season. We've got a manager with good pedigree, a good track record in most jobs and is well respected in the game. That's great, let's focus on surviving now and then we can go back to the circle jerk at the end of the season
  14. I have to defend Carol for only interviewing on person. If she had only Interviewed Pep and given him the job nobody would be complaining. Well possibly Rory but that's another story. The 5 year contract and more importantly the bizarre lauding up of Darren's wife's opinion and that of the family of the coaching staff are concerning. We fans were telling her it was going wrong last January. She didn't listen because probably Flickers' pet rabbit said he was great at ensuring fresh carrots were in the cage each day. Although realistically the carrots were probably oranges but his wife gave him the target of feeding the rabbit so he's met the target.
  15. I think it's more important to look at the players they replace each season and do they improve the squad; Copy of Port Vale transfer analysis - Google Sheets DOCS.GOOGLE.COM
  16. If you get rid of the end of the season you miss out on months of prep for singing the right players. The sooner the better
  17. I don't blame them for that one. I blame them for getting rid of a manager that epitomised what port vale was all about and blaming only him for the way we collapsed after January 2023. What should have happened is AC is manager until the end of the season and then we hired a new management team that also epitomised the club. Someone else that everyone was going to get behind. We also should have realised that the failings of last season were because the squad assembled post Jan23 wasn't good enough and we needed to either replace the recruitment manager or not make the same mistakes again. Instead, we kept the coaches who wouldn't get a job at Stone Dominos (who were working for DFs brothers business by the way) and made the same mistakes in the transfer windows. And you wonder why we're in this position?!
  18. I feel for her but the optimism from the club has been drained since January 2023 when we looked like a club on the edge of the playoffs. One shocking transfer window later and we lose our manager who really exemplified how the fans wanted us to be - desperate to win football matches, gave honest interviews and respected the fans. He was made the fall guy instead of a real investigation as to what went wrong and we scraped by the skin of our teeth. Then, instead of taking the chance for change, Carol let DF give the manager's job to the assistant who was taking training since January and as responsible for the crap on the pitch as the previous manager. Two more dreadful transfer windows and that's that then isn't it. She has started to make amends by getting a decent manager in 9 months too late. She can repair things even more with the fans by announcing DF is leaving at the end of the season and conducting a proper recruitment process for a head of recruitment/director of football. If that were to happen, regardless of what division we are in next season, fans will be more patient and forgiving. If she continues to back DF it's going to get worse here, particularly if we are relegated then it will become unbearable. I really hope she can see what she needs to do.
  19. Had a poor season and seems to be struggling with the weight of captaincy But has been played out of position, and we clearly haven't done any defending training for over 12 months. It's a shame that people really want to dig the knife in a player who has always given his all even if he isn't blessed with the most footballing ability. He probably needs a run out of the side but we don't have the options to replace him.
  20. I hate the way we pick on players at this club. Can't imagine it's unique to our club but I just don't agree with singling people out. I didn't watch the game today but sounded like most of them were <ovf censored> and most of them have been <ovf censored> all season.
  21. The squad was better first half of the season and a half decent manager would have accumulated more points making the fall from grace since the disastrous January less of a disaster. It's clear where the problem is. It's been the same problem since last January and arguably since the first summer in league one when we gave them the benefit of the doubt about the whole 'too short a timeframe to make transfers' <ovf censored>
  22. Seems really strange doesn't it Said it was dropped from the squad on Tuesday as we have a run of games
  23. To be clear - I am 100% against Carol and Kevin selling the club unless they want to get out / can find someone willing to pump in a load of money into the club. Although bad decisions have been made, I don't want to lose the best owners we have had in my lifetime
  24. I made this thread so I could show the difference between the % of people who want Carol to sell the club vs wanting DF to be relieved of his duties.
