  1. It was massively disappointing that he didn't hit the target with his one on one. Mighten broke and he made a great run, and I think we all knew he was gonna get there first ahead of the fleetwood defenders, but the closer he got he visibly froze. I strongly believe a lot of the abuse and vitriol directed at him has clearly got to him. It doesn't matter now that he wasn't the signing that many wanted, it also doesn't matter now that he hasn't got a spectacular goalscoring record. I've observed him working so hard for the cause and often things don't come off for him. He's clearly a confidence player and in the current environment it must be toxic for him. Until Uche and Wilson get fit, the reality is he's all we have until the end of the season. I think enough of the <ovf censored> now, he didn't cost us the game with that miss, the garbage tactics second half did
  2. One of the good guys Knappers, always decent content
  3. So true, there was no game management at the end. Lincoln gave us a masterclass of it for 88 minutes on saturday. Should have been plenty of ideas fresh in the memory
  4. I won't excuse the individual errors as they were criminal and he's right in some ways in his interview when he says we seem to get punished where other teams get lucky. We do have a very rigid squad with not much room for flexibility and by signing "good eggs" we seems to be completely devoid of any absolute nastiness thats sometimes needed out there to see games through to win. I do think Moore has to take some proportion of the blame though as at half time Adam switched up the shape and designed it to get balls into Stockley and it came up trumps for him. I sit right at the back of the Hamil and you could see the repeated pattern, whether it was left wing or right wing, they high pressed with a triangle and one would eventually whip a cross in with pace rather than float it in. Designed to cause panic and pressure. Our responses were the following: 1) Clip it out for a corner 2) Half clear it away to their two awaiting centre mids who mopped up every single second ball, and either had a crack at goal themselves or fed it wide so the move starts all over again This went on for the entire second half, and even though he changed personnel, he did nothing to change that shape. For me he's just hoping we hold out there, and if you let a team dominate the ball like that and have the ball constantly in the box, the law of averages says one will go in. Another tough pill to swallow
  5. This is it, they are going for it. About a month ago, maybe two I thought that maybe we'd be safe as there would be 4 worse sides than us. I'd say maybe two now, and both have beaten us in their own backyard
  6. The main reason he's still here is that balance sheets show he's made a profit in 3 windows. It can only be that.
  7. I used to like Cass but his form went downbank rapid. Noticed he's played 4 times for Stockport since his move Had a good debut in a 3-1 win against Grimsby and even got a goal, but since then.... Was absolutely turned inside out when Crewe beat Stockport 3-1 away, was done for pace and lost possession multiple times over. They should have taken him off. Was taken off at Half-time on saturday as Tranmere battered Stockport 4-0 That said had a decent game on Tuesday night though against Gillingham. Like all of our current players, can't seem to find a run of form or confidence.
  8. I heard that too, and also that we'd put generous bids in for players. Not sure what Moore's salary is in comparison to Crosby's but you would have to assume we do have some money to spend. Get relegated, that quickly becomes part of a budget that no one wants to see
  9. I will actually be getting a ticket for the first time in a long long time. Living in Liverpool, and family/work commitments used to mean I couldn't get to games and this season I've been at games with or without the kids. It's only Feb and I've spent £300 on league match tickets at home and I'm likely to be at the majority of the ones to come too. Financially it's a no-brainer for me, if I'm going to be going to the games like I have been.
  10. Didn't we have another chance too in the mid-noughties to go down and have 12,000 seater stadium where that JCB place is now off Mitchell Way on Lowlands Road
  11. I struggle to see where Grant fits in anywhere, there's not a game this season I can recall him having a positive influence in any position
  12. He's simply got to get some free agents in to back the team up and give us a bit of depth
  13. Finances dictate I can't go to Derby but I'm at all those 3 home games. I suppose I'm clinging to the hope that he can improve them more in coming games. There's no doubt about it that for an hour yesterday there was a vast improvement. Once we had to reshuffle the pack, it became glaringly obvious we have zero in strength, depth or flexibility. DF has to exploit the free agent market, he simply has to at least try
  14. I liked the back four, i liked the concept and it worked for the long period. Off went Jones, on come Grant and then the floodgates opened down the right. I feared Lowe would struggle with the pace and athleticism of their midfield, once Savage came on he was always going to struggle with the second balls. I can't really blame Darren Moore for tonight, he just simply hasn't got enough depth and flexibility in that squad and that is not his fault. Can we get a left back and a striker in before saturday?
  15. Much as I don't rate Grant, Yak would have been the same, he has zero pace. There was this lad we had called Benning that could have played there, please someone tell me that Grant has been an upgrade in any game this season
  16. He hasn't played enough games to get a full 90 yet, he'll be great in the coming weeks Because we don't have anyone else other than Shorrock. I'd have played a double leg amputee ahead of Grant though To give Garrity minutes Wasn't really the worst, but again, not enough in the squad Guy works hard but has zero confidence or composure. Alternative is Wilson who can't play as a lone striker or Dipepa just the same. I think his hand is forced to some extent, but I said this morning putting Grant up against Azeez and Yiadom would be suicidal so he has to look at that one. If Plant/Clark are fit, Grant is sat in the stand I don't think Pep Guardiola could get a tune out of this group, but for 65 minutes until he had to shuffle we improved a lot. I trust he can improve us, we're running out of time to see if it's enough this season
  17. I'll be happy if I never see him in Vale shirt again
  18. If only Jones could hang on for another 30 minutes, they've had an absolute disco down that right since Grant went left back 😔
  19. It's the pattern and style of play, we don't seem to release the ball to wide spaces quickly enough and by the time the opposition have players in covering positions the play then becomes a possession based triangle on the edge of the areas, or down into the corners. You're relying on that short and accurate ball to get in behind and then hope we can get a cross in. Even when we do get in behind, we don't cross well at all, usually it's a panicked ball pulled back across the box which is often cleared
  20. They did it last year against Barnsley and previously against Colchester, so I suspect they budgeted for it and chose to use it on this game for Moore's arrival.
  21. There's some that will never ever be pleased no matter what the club does
  22. Seen some typically negative comments on the socials, saying it's an act of desperation. Not the first time we've done this in February, "bring a mate or a date" was against Barnsley on Valentine's last season We also did it for Colchester at home in 2020 With the games packed in, and a boost needed for the lads, it's a welcome gesture
  23. He has to, Reading usually play a 4-1-4-1, where that 1 man up front quickly becomes 3. A back 3 and one up front would be suicidal
  24. Thank you to the thousands of pounds their fans donated to the statue appeal
