  1. I’m probably in the minority here and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think DF comes across as honest and knowledgeable in the latest podcast. Yes he has the spiel but in modern football I think, in his position, you have to. I really don’t agree with him getting personal abuse and whoever the perpetrators need to take a look at themselves and think how they’d like to be on the receiving end of it in their job. Carol sees far more of him than any fan and sets his objectives so if she’s happy with him th then so am I. Personally he’s exceeded my expectations in getting DM as Manager and I hope it’s enough to keep us up. I’ll be there next season regardless but I do think the club has moved forward massively off the pitch they now need to match this progress off it and for that there needs to be unity throughout the club. UTV.
  2. Yeah but they had six first teamers out on Saturday and most return tonight! Just a moment... WWW.PETERBOROUGHTODAY.CO.UK
  3. I agree although she is his employer. I believe a season should be judged at its end but if we are relegated, the root cause would be clear.
  4. People need to wake up and realise Carol isn’t going to part company with DF - she clearly has a lot of time for him, end of. Whoever takes over as manager will get my support as they have a hell of a job on to keep us up.
  5. Positivity is we were by far the better team in the first half - even Evans said that. Had we managed to get 2-0 up we’d have won the game. They changed it at HT and were the better side for the next half an hour before we regained a measure of control and had a couple of efforts before the penalty. I didn’t see the raft of missed Stevenage chances, I saw two clear chances they scored and two they missed but we had as many we fluffed also. I see the match stats were very even - same shots on target, we had one more in total so a draw was about right. Can’t disagree we are deep in trouble but six wins to the end of the season is not a lost cause.
  6. Perhaps but the most obvious one in the league game at their place wasn’t given!
  7. Did you actually go to the game? Wilson got through loads of work today and showed some nice touches.
  8. As a business person you rarely dismiss people on what other people think. You make your own judgement calls and stick to them. She clearly has time and respect for DF so I’m afraid people will have to like it or lump it! The trouble with football fans is they always need someone to blame when things go wrong. I never heard anyone criticising Carol or Flitcroft the season we went up, it’s only when things nosedive. Unfortunately, regarding managers Carol is quite loyal and both Crosby and Askey were allowed too much time to turn things round.
  9. It’s clear from the statement Carol has a lot of time for DF so it doesn’t look like he’ll be leaving anytime soon. That leaves all supporters with two choices: 1. Trust her judgement as she clearly deals with him far more than any fan, hoping in the long term we improve and progress. 2. Go against her judgement and create civil war in the club and try to hound DF out. Although I’m highly sceptical, I really don’t think option 2 is justified at the moment. Following the worst owner we’ve ever had, Carol brought some welcome stability for 3 years albeit things have gone pear shaped in the past 12 months.
  10. Rightly so on Saturdays performance! He and Grant were awful.
  11. It doesn’t matter that they were already here, what matters is they have developed into first team squad players in the last two or so years when he’s been here. I tend to believe people who’ve experienced the academy first hand over those who haven’t.
  12. I don’t agree with the comment about how he’s living off the hard work of others. I know someone whose son was in Vale’s academy and he reckons WR knew his stuff and was well liked by the young players. He’s also been in post 2.5 years and has been a big part of the success of our young players.
  13. The majority of fans will be there to support the team Saturday, the recriminations can wait until later especially as nothing will now change until the Summer. I must say though our record of signing strikers over the last couple of years is appalling. I would probably say in that time only Wilson has been good enough and he’s by probably been available for less than half his available games due to injury. The team will get my full support tomorrow but this window reminds me of the one where we sold Alnwick and Grant and that didn’t end well.
  14. Peterborough, Derby, Bolton and Crewe are doing too bad with possession based football…..
  15. Totally agree. There’s only a few days left of the window and it’s hard enough to get one striker in. People need to back him, the team, the manager and the club and accept we’re not the finished article. We will lose games but I’m confident we can get the 20pts we need to secure safety enabling us the improve further in the Summer.
  16. I think Gandys have a vacancy you may be suited to.
  17. I’ve seen Stevenage play three times this season and think they are a horrible watch. Reid and Piergianni are decent players but most of the others are bang average. In my opinion they won’t go up and could be well victims of second season syndrome next season.
  18. Yep another player who made his first team debut at VP. 👍
  19. 100% correct but some on here think differently for some reason. If this were the case players would want to be transferred 4 times a season!
  20. How anyone can see the lack of confrontation on Hamil Rd as being anything other than positive is beyond me.
  21. The rumour was that Uche did ask to speak to Charlton though so if true, he’d forego the balance on his contract. You are correct about managers which is why I rarely feel sorry for them. The current system means there are some very rich managers who’ve been serial failures.
  22. That isn’t how contracts work! If he left Vale in January his contract with us would be cancelled as he’s effectively broken it. That’s not to say he wouldn’t be financially better off by moving but he’d need to factor this into his move. The main motivation for him may also be location as Uche hails from the South East.
  23. For those who like speculation and in case it’s been missed: Port Vale: All the latest transfer news from the last week of the window THE72.CO.UK
  24. It’s always the easiest thing in the world to spend someone else’s money. I’m sure Carol would appreciate it if you were to put £10k in. 👍
