  1. The Clappers would be happy with a loss but the Rest would complain about a victory!
  2. Garrity was part of our promotion team whilst I’d have Worrall over Chislett any day and as for Wilson he seems to be doing his best to keep injury free before moving on in the Summer. I agree about the defence though, Ripley apart they can all go for me. Major surgery is required during the next transfer window but I can’t see even that to be enough for us to challenge next season. There’s usually two ways to get out of L2: through money at it like Wrexham and Stockport or build season on season like Mansfield and Exeter have done. I really can’t see us doing a Wrexham.
  3. Possibly but one thing’s for certain very few are good enough for L2 never mind L1. I will excuse the young players from criticism as they still have time to develop but of the others, I’d only keep Ripley, Garrity and Clarke - they rest can be released or paid up (if we can afford to). In return for my support all I ask is effort and commitment to the cause unfortunately, there’s been none of that in 2024. I predict now it’ll take three transfer window to turn this mess round.
  4. I get that everyone pays their hard earned money and has an opinion but I cannot understand the minority who boo and shout abuse at the end of games. It achieves nothing - Dipepa, Weir and Plant are little more than boys. Do people think this behaviour makes the players want to play for the club more? If I was a player I wouldn’t come over to acknowledge the fans if that’s what I got. I’m amazed the team still bother with this but those shouting the abuse who be the first to complain if they didn’t! Given the circumstances, I thought most fans were excellent in their support during the game.
  5. The bottom line is our squad just isn’t good enough for this league. No amount of tactics, formations or substitutions is going to change that. I believe the players are trying but lack the required quality to stay in the league. I only think Ripley, Garrity and Ojo are L1 quality, the rest either aren’t ready or aren’t good enough. Major surgery required in the Summer to finish top half in L2 next season. Can’t feeling we’ve given our L1 place away without a fight because of dreadful recruitment.
  6. Ah it’s only taken four games for the usual clowns to want Moore out. 🤣🤣 This ship was sunk long before he arrived and I’ll judge him come this time next year. Plenty of effort tonight but not enough quality which sums up most our games in 2024. Had we got a forward like Stockley we’d have stayed up instead we signed no one other than Loft. i hope when Carol sits down with DF to review this season, she doesn’t accept his woeful performance in the transfer market.
  7. Reading points deduction: Royals docked two more points over HMRC bill - BBC Sport WWW.BBC.CO.UK
  8. £1m isn’t even the wage bill for a season! We’ve been down the all ‘chipping in’ road with V2000 and all that happened was I and many others lost their share money and the club went into administration! I suspect Robbie wouldn’t have the time or inclination to be involved in the running of the club so even if he invested, there’d need to be someone appointed to run the football side of things - and that ain’t a popular model at the moment.
  9. I think if you look at the video they both had hold of each other’s shirts but it didn’t affect the result anyway.
  10. I thought Jones was abysmal but it wasn’t a pen. Jones didn’t make contact with their players feet at any time and it was their player leaning into Jones. it didn’t make any difference to the result as we wouldn’t have scored if we were still playing now. As for Smith, I don’t know what has happened to him - he looks non-league at the minute.
  11. We are down regardless. The squad has proven over the last 12 months, it’s not of L1 standard and we will be deservedly relegated in a few weeks time. Personally, I think the owners need to now rethink the whole structure at the club and plan for next season. It could take a couple of years to sort this mess out given the number of contracted players we have.
  12. The scores for the team’s efforts today are straightforward: Everyone 3/10 bar Dan Jones 1/10, Ripley 5/10 and Ben Garrity 7/10.
  13. More fanfare for the common man!
  14. Great thread for inspiring the team against the fight against the drop!
  15. Going out to a prearranged event tonight so will have no access to the game. I’ll be back on OVF after 10pm to see the meltdown!!! 🙄
  16. As long as he’s wearing our badge I’m fully behind him.
  17. He had a far greater impact on Saturday’s game than Wilson.
  18. Scapegoat - “A person who is blamed for the mistakes or faults of others”. That’s exactly what this is as there’s people far more culpable for our current mess than Ojo. The reason he was given a 2.5 year contract was to ward off Bolton who wanted to sign him in August. At the time I don’t recall anyone complaining about it. The trouble is given our current predicament, everyone is an expert with hindsight.
  19. I think you’re picking out the wrong scapegoat for our current position. When fit, he’s regularly one of our better performers.
  20. Mitch, when fit, has to be a better and more natural wingback option than Massey - especially his defensive ability.
  21. I’m glad he’s our manager and not half of the people who post here otherwise we might as well not play our other 16 games. We are one win from being above the dotted line. Yes we been useless for a six weeks but we have a new manager with hopefully new ideas and a couple of players coming back who’ll make a difference. It’s not over yet but the fat lady is warming up but one thing’s for sure you don’t get anywhere by throwing in the towel.
  22. Interesting to hear DC’s comments on the game: It was a battle, second ball game, hustle and bustle. Blackpool on Tuesday were more technical, possession based but they didn't really cause us any problems. Port Vale caused us more problems and Darren (Moore) will go in there and turn them around, make no bones about that. He's a top class manager and a top class guy. They'll turn it around and I am sure they'll get the rhythm. For us it's about fighting away - nothing has changed since I've come in the building. We needed a certain amount of wins and we've ticked another one off today.
  23. His standards didn’t drop today - he was our MOTM.
  24. Unless you’re incredibly fickle, one result shouldn’t change your opinion of DF. Far better to actually wait until our final position is confirmed and Moore has had a couple of weeks with the players. We are hardly adrift of safety but I agree things don’t look great.
  25. He had a good game but Ferry was the outstanding player. Same old, same old from Vale I’m afraid. It’s looking bleak as we can’t sustain any sort of pressure.
