  1. As a 42 year old I’d say We’ve had some pretty bad teams in league one and league two and somehow managed to stay up but for in terms of quality lacking all over the pitch and this situation was completely avoidable then I think this is probably the worst for me. We lack fight, strength, pace and most importantly ability. If it wasn’t for watching Ollie and Alfie for some part of the season and a bit of joy to watch two players like that then I’d probably say I haven’t enjoyed many games at all this season. It’s been a complete waste.

For me, a fully fit committed Funso would be outstanding in League Two, he was a level above Mansfield for example in the cup, to bounce back quick then you want players like him, Chis and Garrity.

You’d imagine ojo would be the first knocking on the gaffers door trying to find an exit away from the club.  Chislett, and Ripley you’d think only left their league 2 clubs to chance their arm in the league above so I’m not sure they’ll want to stay here for another few seasons. We will end up with the core of <ovf censored> that is currently getting us relegated with the addition of 3/4 new faces. It’ll be another long hard slog in league two.

If Chesterfield get promoted that’s another one.

They’re 20 points clear with 9 games to play. I’m pretty confident they’ll be a league 2 next season. And a very good one at that. Tough league next season. As others have said I feel we will do well to stay around mid table.

Yesterday saw Mal Benning playing against us and having a decent game.  Nothing barn storming but steady.  That highlights exactly why we are in this mess.

Moving Mal on wasn't a problem, not replacing him with somebody better is.  You can draw a list of players we have moved on since Jan 2023 and you won't find many have been upgraded on.

We are here for one reason alone, recruitment or rather the failure of recruitment.  To my mind, David Flitcroft is responsible for these things and has to carry the can.

Mal Benning will not have an easier game all season. I sit just past the 18 yard box in the railway and I’ve never seen sang in line with me and wanting to receive the ball. When he does receive a pass it’s always in his own half or on the half way line. We never ever get high up the pitch and try and hurt teams. It’s been an absolute disaster this season. Sooner it’s over with the better. We’ve recruited players (bad ones) who can clearly not play the way Flitcroft wants to play.

Jesse debrah is starting to annoy me more each week also. Can he ever play a pass out without kicking it out of play. ? He’s steady centre half in the national league he’s a million miles off this league. He’s not the only of course .

  5. Was it my eyes for their goal or was the ball clearly out of the quadrant by some distance? The linemen knew he made a mistake and the next corner he was messing with his earpiece and then the ref went over to check so he clearly knew he had messed up. Suppose it didn’t matter but rules are rules. Everything is going wrong this season we should’ve known after the opening day defeat we were in for a bumpy ride.

  6. I really thought yesterday was going to be different for some reason. The clear the air meeting with the fans on Monday, the lads going away for a few days bonding, the fact we have to win surely sometime… everything suggested it was going to be our day and we win and put some pressure on the three sides above us. How wrong was I. Another awful start to a football match where yet again we find ourselves 1-0 down and I thought Ripley was poor for their goal and should’ve got a strong hand on it.

garritys chance looked tough from the back of the railway where I was but Wilson’s miss was a shocker. Why didn’t he take it further forward and then shoot? He looked like he ended up scuffing his shot also. Hes absolutely awful and stealing a wage. The whole clubs a mess and they need a way to find some cash and pay a large chunk of these players off because I’m certain this side goes down again next season.

admit you’re wrong Carol and get rid of him and give us a chance. I know you haven’t got a clue about football as you keep telling us, but surely you can see that this squad is the worst weve had for a fair few years and it’s happened on your ownership.  We’ve lasted two seasons in this league and both have been a struggle. Something clearly hasn’t worked with yours and flitcrofts master plan. Fans are losing interest rapidly and the gates will hover around the 4,000 mark next season. Take away the huge away followings and the clubs set to lose a staggering amount of money which was completely unavoidable with a couple of decent players brought in and probably getting rid of Crosby earlier. To bring Moore in when the window shut was quite laughable even by our standards

i think you shouldve said the “FANS” were phenomenal, and not the gutless blokes who turn out pretending the be professional footballers each week for for our badge

    Sort it out !

A lot has happened since that statement mate

You are correct. Let’s hope she can see what way our club is heading under the delightful David Flitcroft. Moore won’t stand a chance next season if he’s working under Flitcroft. Huge summer rebuild needed just to be competitive next season. And certainly a goal scorer recruited as well as midfield men who can score goals.

Someone start the protests against DF

Make sure carol knows it not against her though

The thing is she knows the fans clearly don’t want him anywhere near the club. Just look at the squad we’ve assembled. We would struggle in league two with this squad. It’s all on him. She’s publicly backed him the other week and will not have a bad word said about him. Which is very very worrying. I know she hasn’t got a clue about football: as she keeps telling us, but if she can’t see what an awful side we are then I do not know why we bother next season. Carol shanahan things need to change for next season or it’ll get nasty up there. Flitcroft out now

For the 1st time ever I’m checking out. I can’t watch this getting to angry

We look disorganised at the back, watching players run off us. This team is worse than Bruno/Brown .Zero fight or character with this group of players.

2 kids at WB’s, no strikers and not one CB worthy of L1.

    Thank you Flitcroft.

Yet the one person who needs to change all of this doesn’t know nothing about football as she keeps telling us. So maybe she’s happy with it all. It’s scary now.

Yeah he did minutes later he was subbed

Looking back as bad as the 2nd half was to watch our defence stood up very well to the barage that they threw at us obviously until another costly mistake

    Shame really

I’d agree with that. We seemed to get battered all second half from their left hand side. Sometimes they had three on one all half. But as you said, we seemed to manage to clear balls away. If it wasn’t for another absolute howler from our defence we go into added time 2-0 up. Ojo has given up, get him gone. Have we took the vice captaincy off him as well? With garrity skippering us last night.

  12. I’m sure the old “we’re working on a competitive budget to get back up to league one, so we need your support with season tickets” line will be wheeled out in a few months. That’s why we should’ve done everything we could to have strengthened the team to maintain our place in league one. We certainly haven’t given ourselves a chance to stay up this season. That’s more disappointing than anything else from the club. Massively let down. Flitcroft out

What qualifications DOES Hancock have to be a CEO of a company?

Not to say he is anyway responsible for this mess but is it any coincidence that the downward direction started when he came on board.

None at all. Was head of community at burton Albion before Carol offered him a job here. Ex player and manager at wolstanton Utd, big stoke fan all his family hate the vale. Carol loves him. He will be player manager soon 🤣

Back on the subject of yesterdays game.
Ripley. I real feel for the guy. I’m sure I’ve heard that we have changed our back 3 personal a massive 26 times this season. How the hell can he command what’s in front of him when he doesn’t know who it will be from week to week!
Smith. Dreadful. There’s a reason nobody has made a bid for him in a decade at the club. A good league 2 defender. Nothing more. Hugely out of his depth in league 1.

Lopata. Not our player. Doing Barnsley a favour in getting him games.

Dan Jones. Shocking. He went through a spell when he first came where he did really well. Since his illness he hasn’t been the same player. League 2/National league footballer.

Grant. If he were a dog he’d have been put down. No pace. No fight. No energy. No legs. National league player at best.

Ojo. Where has his form gone? In teams faces at the start of the season. Now chases his own shadow for 90 minutes. League 2 player.

Lowe. A sad indictment that at one point he was probably our best defender. Now treading water in the middle. Another who can barely run. League 2/National league player.

Massey. Feels like he’s been here forever. Rarely scores. Rarely assists. Goes missing. Has one good game every 20. Robbing a living. National league player.

Chislett. A shining light in a dark tunnel of dross. Acts like he cares. Still quite raw. Always looking to be involved. Got the potential to have a good career at this level and maybe higher.

Wilson. Not arsed is he. Let’s get real. Wouldn’t know he was on the pitch most games. Proving he’s not good enough anymore for anything higher than league 2.

Loft. Fair play to the lad as he does actually run. Doesn’t get near the ball but he does run around. Probably be a better 1500 meter runner than he is a footballer. He’d be on the bench for Wolstanton Working Mens club fc.

Weir. An Ollie Arblaster or Alfie Devine he is not.
    Not sure what he is.
    What does he do?

Mighten. Well he might if he gets a start!! Looks tricky but doesn’t fit into our system of passing the ball to death and sending the fans to sleep.

Dipepa. For the love of god stop bringing the lad on!! He shouldn’t be anywhere near league football. He’s got two years of progression needed. Right now we aren’t looking after the lad.

Walters. Class act earlier in the season. Went missing. Won’t sign a contract. Looks like he doesn’t want to be here.

So any fan coming at me and others saying we have games in hand…. Look at that shower who have to get the points! Peterborough away is one of them. Forget that.
Bottom two are going down so that leaves two places. Cheltenham will be fine. Charlton are catchable. But then you’re looking at a huge home game against Sheewsbury.
But ultimately football is a very simple game made confusing by others.

Basic facts are we are <ovf censored> at the back. Look like the Chelsea pensioners in midfield. Toothless up front. Have no passion. Can’t make a tackle. Have no pride. Don’t leave it all out on the pitch. And have a squad where I dare say 90% of them are not giving it their all and going through the motions.

Weve got to see improvement of miraculous portions. Anyone with their eyes open should be very very worried indeed.

You’d find it hard to argue with that summary of the squad. Great post. It’ll be a huge turnover of players in the summer and one I’m looking forward to very much.

Micky Adams got us promoted while we were in administration without a kit to play in!

What money we had we invested in a good manager with contacts who played a bold brand of football and was tactically good.

More importantly we invested in players who were winners. Might not have been the best players but they had the right mentality - never shirked a challenge, put their bodies on the line, went the extra mile.

We didn't have fancy facilities, amazing community projects, top notch training grounds or Directors of Football.

Stevenage don't have any of that. Neither do Northampton, Bristol Rovers etc.

But they HAVE put money into their first team to survive at this level. We don't appear to have done that - it also appears that all this infrastructure is a convenient excuse not to do it.

Add Cambridge burton Lincoln to that. They seen to always survive and attract decent enough lower end level league one players. We don’t want to compete with derby posh Pompey Wrexham Stockport we have to compete with Lincoln burton Cambridge orient Northampton. And at this very moment once again we simply are not which could result in a relegation back to that god awful graveyard league.

Thanks mate. Shows why we are investing off the pitch. Proves my point. We have neglected everything off the pitch for 20 odd years. The ground has gotten better like I said. It still need a lot of work though. 5 years ago the ground was <ovf censored> now its better than <ovf censored>.

You are probably investing off the pitch in the areas where you sit But what is this achieving when we probably go down and have gates of 4;500 again? How do we attract better players when the budget will be a lot lower. It won’t be a nice place up there next season.

Look at the ground and pitch how much better they are.

Youve obviously never seen the bycars toilets, or the facilities behind it outside in the bad weather. Or the railway toilets, flooded most games, no hot water, where you can’t swing a cat in there for 3000 fans then had queue up in the pouring rain at a small tea bar have you. You’re deluded. Get it right on the pitch firstly. Something which we haven’t done for two seasons. I’d love to know which staff member you are but I’d imagine all of you think the same anyway. That’s why we’re in this mess.

  19. I think we lose Tuesday. So the two home games are the ones that I think will put us back out of the drop zone or it will probably take us down. That’s how important the two games are in my eyes. 6 points are needed from these three games minimum for me. If we can’t beat Lincoln and fleetwood at home whilst in a relegation battle then we don’t deserve to stay up. Another week with the manager so let’s see what we can produce. The serious lack of fight yesterday was a big worry for me. Usually you see a new manager in charge and players run and tackle all day long for him. Not yesterday. If you closed your eyes yesterday you’d have put money on Crosby was still in charge. Nothing changed at all. I accept the players aren’t good enough to survive but I did expect to see some urgency and fight but none of that was seen. If we can get 6 points out the next three games then we will be out the bottom 4 and we’re back alive and fighting with a good chance of staying up. Huge 10 days coming up.

if we are to be relegated it’ll be horrible back in that league. Fans will lose interest and we will be back to 4,300 gates with 150 away fans as the norm in a huge stadium with no atmosphere at all. We will lose out on sold out away ends from possibly Stockport Sheffield derby Wrexham and probably something in the region of £300k.
It’ll be a huge financial blow which will impact another budget and then squad will be weaker again. We won’t get these England u20 loans in that league. The clubs a mess at the moment and can’t see it getting any better anytime soon, sadly. If we are to continue the role of a DOF then since back in league one we nearly went down with a game to go and we will go down this year so you can’t tell me Flitcroft has been good enough to carry on in this role. He has to go and we bring someone else in surely. Carol open your eyes please! I’m sure you’ll be well aware of this next season when you’re sitting in your posh seat with 4,000 fans in attendance.

Where was this Bradbury coaching before mate do you know? Just seen your reply 🤦‍♂️ thanks pal, the old Man City geezer?

Think he’s been at Eastleigh hasn’t he? Sure I saw that somewhere. It’s great that moores been able to bring his own team in which will cost a lot of money no doubt. So credit to Carol for this. Let’s hope we see some positive performances now and results.

You’d think so yes. Training was a lot better. Moore kept stopping it and plenty of instructions to the players. Trying to get his points across. Not sure where Lee Bradbury as come in from I’m not sure he’s worked under Moore before anywhere? But he took the set piece session at the end in and around the box for the strikers.
