  1. Haaland missed 3 sitters the other day. How many have our forwards missed? We do not create. That is the issue.
  2. Plus when I was 15, the now deceased friend put me on his shoulders and asked the turnstile operator "How much for the baby?" . By then I was to big to crawl under the turnstiles. Happy days, but I do like at seat at my age.
  3. Thing is "Spunk", re modern life in general. Some things get taken seriously and rightly so. I gave an Extra Strong mint to a police horse @ Newcastle, the horse loved it his/her handler gave me a ticking off. Think we drew 2-2, but the fun bus was bad then. Re the restrictions, that is the "modern world" good or bad? Remember going to Walsall, Fellows Park and anything that was loose would be a handy thing to throw. So I do see why safety is important. Fanzone helps, it gives the normal fan a bit more hospitality. Paddock is not the same no tin cans lying around to kick about and police telling you to get off the wall, when your trying to play "hide and seek" Plus the Lorne Street wallers, second half gates would be open and some would come in, bonkers.
  4. Agreed, not his fault he is asked to do it, I remember when Porter had to play there, took us a while to work out what he was best at. From my memory, AP could tackle and score the odd goal. It is Sunday and just to cheer all up.
  5. I am not picking out any player, but is Nathan Smith a midfielder? Or Gavin a right back? I get the "modern player" and I expect all to work hard as they say, but you put the players where they are best. Do we have the squad or right players, that is hopefully for DM and DF, can argue all you like, but they are not on the pitch. DM yes has to pick an 11, but is so obvious where we struggle. People moan about Wilson going missing, but he rarely gets any chances in the box, because we lack so much. Lack of pace at the back, yes. Able to give the "forwards a decent chance", no. We create nothing and that is all down to the system with players that, and I, could not run 30 yards when some long ball goes gung ho over the top ends in a goal for opp. With the 3 at the back, if a so called wingback is up the pitch, our super slow defence gets out of shape and well you know the story easy finish. If we look at the squad? Do we have a proper wingback, Jones is a CH, come LB and a Wingback, not his fault. Smith has played all over. Devine was better as a deeper player, I do like Ojo there also, but then that leaves no midfield, because we do not have one. Would you trust Gav to track back, again not his fault, rather see him scoring goals 🙂 We need to simplify the system and do jobs. Remember having a chat with SJR and yeah we did go down a few seasons later, but you have to play to your strengths and the personel available. I am sure DM will work it out, easy for me to say from a keyboard.
  6. Middle of the pitch is my concern, with the way we try to play from the back, we have no strength. lack height and the defence does not have the ability to faff around trying to find Wilson after 20 sideways passes. Apart from Garrity and Ojo to an extent we do not have the legs in midfield, so we lose the ball and its a mad scene of, I could name but wont shame, running back like headless chickens to confuse our already confused back 3 and still allow an old cripple to score. Loft was our best tracker back yesterday, but he is supposed to be scoring goals? Tongue in cheek. We also have the worst wingbacks in the league. But my issue is are they wingbacks?. Gav is no Kyle Walker (not a bad thing). Lets hope Darren, gets a method to suit and sticks to it. Does he have the players?
  7. Main issue with me and has been all season. Do the players actually know what their role is in the team. Injuries, cause issues and (suspensions/resting if needed). But... We have moved the whole back line around, nearly every other game. Midfield lacks aggression. Plant, Walters, Devine, Arblaster. Who all should have great careers, cannot be put through the pressure that they have had to do, in a struggling team. We tried 1 up front. But OG apart from Ben is our top scorer. Love Ripley as a keeper, but we dont have Beckenbauer, so the slow approach from him relying on our defenders, asks for trouble. But looking at the team/squad and the way we look to be moving to youth, again a good thing. I do not like versatile footballers, perhaps we do not have the budget, but I want players to do the job, I understand they need to be "flexible", but those type of players cost £millions. Cheltenham moved the ball, had runners and used the wind and pressure on us, that does not cost money. I have seen us for many a year and even though I may be a member of the HC, seen it all 🫠 and have Vale blood, losing becomes a habit. Anyway, getting upset or angry wont help, may help me, but lets build for Tuesday. UTV
  8. Well that team will lose 6 nil, just by 1/2 time, agree with the "senior" players, I say we should get "Dicko" in, if he has a change of heart by Tuesday. All who go on the fun (not much fun atm) bus can play, as long as they have the required 3-4 pints . Oh they must remember to eat well, so 64 oz mixed grill before kick off or veg option.
  9. Weir seems to have decent feet, can see a pass, but if you are in and out of a team, then it wont work. Mighten may as well just play him instead of Grant.
  10. No but the point I made was re to the quote. Abuse is not needed, Loft is a pro footballer. Fact Rest I will let you decide.
  11. Are you any better? Come on we lost and it is worrying, but anyway, abuse wont help. Some Vale fans have weird minds. Not saying they are all heroes, but they are all probably better at playing football than me or you, although I am great at Fifa. FM I am a master.
  12. We did score 2 goals away, well 2 on the scoreboard. Massey, Chislett, Ojo. Lowe and Grant are so poor defensively. Ojo apart. Mighten made us look a bit more positive. Moore need to bang Mighten on, play Weir and atm Loft up top and cahnge it. We need a flat 4 at the back and hopefullly Clarke is back and Garrity and Ojo in the middle.
  13. Midfield is poor , has been all season regarding defensive players. Ojo being the only one, We defo miss Garritys legs and goals. Just hope we play the players in positions that suit and refit in the summer. Oh for Sam Morsy
  14. Yeah they are, do we throw Mighten on to make some room and panic them? Because they are poor
  15. What is that? Loft and Wilson have covered some ground. It is a game like you would expect with both teams needing points.
  16. To be fair to Flitcroft, he is not on the pitch. So some blame has to go on the players. Confidence is a massive thing and hopefully DM will boost that. Re DF again yeah we did need that forward/poacher player, maybe we pick one up in the summer, too late? who knows, but bickering and negativity. Well there is only one way and it is not forward. So Carol and Kevin do the finances, DF does whatever, hopefully Darren and the players do what any football fan wants and play for the club professionally.
  17. Good read, but he did choose some poor photos? It is never as bad as it seems. Well maybe 🙃
  18. No Carol has found Shergar and has entered him for the Grand National at the age of 45. Aintree ready, you heard it here first. Place your bets early.
  19. Anyway if you disagree with any of my posts I am now experienced, so ............
  20. Pleased with the choice, tactics depend on the squad you have really. We do lack pace at the back, so we need to manage a way to stop the gaping holes in our defence. Goals, well, we get enough set pieces/corners to get a few more. We also need to pull the trigger more often ( Massey deflection proves that). I am sure Darren knows this and all will be well in Vale land. Just.
  21. Madine is not even 1/2 fit, plus he seems like he has had enough, too many moves, terminated contracts. semi retired. Not worth the effort.
  22. Some players thrive on matches rather than training, but the teams we have had, in the past, doing that were playing well. It may be harder when you are struggling, but one win and confidence built, could mean within 7 days you have that chance to get that boost. You do need the players though ? That is a major concern.
