  1. Would Cass be offered a contract if we’re in L2?
  2. For the soft option Isn’t Tommy Johnson head of recruitment Ray? Are you saying replace him or have him report to our manager rather than DF?
  3. Aren’t they managed by one of Vale’s coaches?
  4. Should compliment Lofty’s 50p feet. 😉
  5. Nah, one bad game and he’d be crucified on here.
  6. The league above and no strikers for a lot of that season too I think (a long-term injured ‘tin Foyle and a relatively useless Keith Houchen?) . Didn’t we end up putting one of our better defenders, Swanny, up front, too so a double whammy? Would the Yak or Jesse Debrah be better up front than what we have available at the moment- it’s a way of getting all our centre halves in the team even if they are play as strikers 😉
  7. He was and he would but we would only be able to sign players who wanted to come to us. Do you think he would have come to us instead of Derby even if we had the money or more? Given the choice of a team pushing for promotion in front more than 25,000 fans every other week and team struggling to survive in a league in front of <8000 people I know where I’d prefer to play irrespective of the money on offer.
  8. Had the offer of free tickets for Stevenage v Cambridge last night but we gave our support via a tenner to the Vale and watched on iFollow. Agree Ojo looked disinterested/unfit or both and we called out his pulling out of tackles - if he plays Saturday (because we’ve got no one else) Derby will walk all over us in midfield, more so than Fleetwood did, and I fear a drubbing - expect there’ll be a reaction to last night’s defeat to Charlton. The overload on Sang (especially second half) was plain to see and we couldn’t understand why DM didn’t do more eg put Plant on earlier for Weir (his defensive game was/is poor) to give Sang some respite. Despite the excellent defending from Kacper and the Yak all night with the number of crosses raining in from Patterson the law of averages said one was bound to drop to one of their players at some point and it did on 88mins. Lucky to come away with a point the way we and they played second half. We’re going Derby on Saturday, never been to the new ground and have a feeling it may be some time before we get chance to go again. UTV
  9. No doubt part of his new contract negotiations. Nice to see Chris Wilder is a man of his word (keeping him with the first team squad rather than sending out on another loan). Good luck to the young man, though it’s a near certainty he’ll take to the PL like a duck to water. Just a moment... WWW.THESTAR.CO.UK
  10. Just hope the team put in a performance today to make up for the earlier home fixture, to break the hold DC still seems to have on us. Got me thinking, there’s always talk about the managerial merry-go-round, but isn’t DC the only former manager we’ve come up against in over 40 years? Makes you wonder if coming to the Vale was the pinnacle of any manager’s career and they then just couldn’t see the point in going on to manage any other league team. 😉
  11. How reliable is this source? Stoke nowafter Ainsworth. Would he be interested? It’s falling apart down at that there incinerator isn’t it? What a shame.
  12. The feedback I’ve read says DM is a pragmatist and plays a style/formation that fits the players he has available. Hopefully that’s the case with us though I’m struggling to think what formation does suit the players we currently have fit and available. Happy that’s his job not mine.
  13. I don’t see it as a problem. For me having Sat-Tues games 4 weeks on the bounce was more of a risk to the integrity/fitness of our squad currently and now we’ve got a lucky break (actually and figuratively). Apart from Easter weekend don’t think we currently have midweek fixtures in either March or April so is one midweek game in each of those month more of a burden/risk?
  14. Flat East Anglia gets very little rain (Cambridge typically has less annual rainfall than Barcelona) but I’ve not known a 12months like it in the last 15 years. No punting on the Cam some days this winter because the river is too high and the soak-aways on housing estates/new built up areas are now overflowing, pre 2023 they’ve usually been pretty much bone dry all year round. Guess covers would have to be water tight to give the protection needed to prevent this last year’s inundations causing postponements.
  15. Got to feel sorry for Connor Ripley, spending your birthday in Peterborough and not even a game of footy to take the edge off. ☔️🌧️
  16. Posted on the manager thread earlier that it might be off. Not stopped raining down here since mid-morning so not surprised. Feel for those already well on their way down though.
  17. Well the easy part of signing a new manager’s done, the hard part of keeping us in L1 starts tonight 😉. I’ll be there ( if it’s on-it’s been pi§§ing down all day down here). c’marrrn Vale! Darren Moore’s black and white army!
  18. I’ll DM you my home address 😉
  19. He’s from the northeast so his baby will be ‘howay in a manger”? (sorry couldn’t resist the autocorrect misspelling 😉)
  20. Yes, we need to insulate him from all negativity - it won’t cost us anything either because I’m sure the government offer grants for Loft insulation……… I’ll get me coat!
  21. Is that before or after you’ve served him breakfast naked ?🍳 🍌
  22. I thought that too. Current assistant to the head coach at Sheff Wed after being head of youth coaching (all ages) at Spurs before then. Hasn’t ‘managed’ for 5 years but was coach for England (under Southgate) in that time before joining Tottenham ( involved with the Devine deal before he left?) Perhaps he wants to step back into management again?
