  1. I do remember the quote but it wasn't admission that the club had no money, the new pitch, new facilities and players is an indicator of that. I understand why Carol ignored the things that they have got wrong in the letter (Come on, she wasn't going to engage in that) she isn't going to lie about DF generating his salary many times over since he took on the role, money we probably wouldn't have with a manager in place.
  2. This is true. I'm sure I read earlier that the owner of Lincoln confirmed he wasn't sacked because of results. Which you could also see as a bad thing too.
  3. Is that fact or speculation? As we have had a near rebuild of players since we were promoted. Garrity, Smith and Wilson are all that remain. EDIT: Adding Jones to that list who seemed to have been frozen out by Crosby.
  4. To be fair to Carol she did outline what his targets were and how he had hit them. My main problem with the endless Flitcroft bashing is that people criticising aren't willing to add any balance by saying he had brought in two of the best midfielders we have seen in Burslem for a couple of decades and the players that Crosby was given should have had a higher points return which sits with Crosby. When we had a good run in August after the opening day massacre, Crosby and the players get the credit but it's only when things start to slide south that Flitcroft's name starts to get mentioned. The guy put together a promotion winning squad, it's clear that fans don't like having a DoF as nothing he will do will ever be good enough. I'm under no illusions, the transfer windows have been lacking, fell short with the strikers, but we conceded 3 against a then bottom of the league side last weekend and Flitcroft was to blame for that too and nobody knows what budget he has to work with. All speculation as fact. Of course he is open to criticism, because I'm sure that is what people will reply with, he absolutely is, but the level of personal attacks, the name-calling (clitcroft, ffs). Online obviously though, nobody seems to turn up at the supporters meeting and confronts him. It's all just very juvenile and makes it difficult to take some people seriously. Mistakes were made with the Crosby appointment - 100%. The season isn't over though, let's see what the new coach does. This isn't a Shanahan burner account, honest.
  5. Have fans only moaned about winning 3 games in 5 months? Yesterday I saw a Vale fan say after the open letter was released that Carol was "deffo in love with Flitcroft" and they were serious. What does that achieve?
  6. Correct, if true. I also would have liked to have seen us bring someone in with not only experience but a bit of success in and around League 1/2. The one ex player I would have wanted is Ainsworth because he has a promotion under his belt but he isn't available/interested clearly. The other appointments in the past of Foyle/Aspin etc always felt desperate but Ainsworth's experience is vast at this level. Ah well. I guess the other issue that has forced their hand is the availability of other coaches. They haven't got the time to wait even a day which means the pool is smaller. I'd take Dr Karl Kennedy if he could keep us up.
  7. I don't think Clarke was particularly nice within the game of football, I got the impression he could be difficult if things weren't going the right way. This isn't a bad thing as Crosby came across as too nice. I guess people do just want to moan about everything " We need a replacement fast" "Okay we've got one" "Not him!"
  8. Me neither, I suppose the difference with Ainsworth (can't decide if I think it would be a good appointment) is that he has had relative success with Wycombe and we desperately need that right now.
  9. Well, that was an interesting window. Disappointed again at the lack of a striker, I understand sometimes the timings of announcements is out of the club's control but they know fans have been screaming for a striker for what feels like about 18 years, they should have at least ended the window with an announcement that a player is coming in rather than a player going out, but even Vale's admin had to check the McDermott transfer 5 times before sending it out on the socials.
