  1. I know we want to be positive and rightly so. PV played well on a poor pitch and deserved to win. Good defending. Goals well taken. But let's not get carried away. Both goals were awful defending by Bristol. The first goal was about the ball being given away and no tackling. The second was a mazy run and good finish - but come on Balee should have been tackled or fouled near the start. He was waived through.
Bristol were way off it today. I can see they are suspect at the back. But also they looked threatening without hitting the target with shots.
We need more Bristol like teams to stay up. We also need to keep working on attack because the rest of the teams we face - especially away - are unlikely to so poor at the back. What a clown in goal!!
It’s amazing what a turnaround we’ve seen since DF went. I didn’t expect us to be so different. It’s like night and day.
Just enjoy the win..we got another game Monday so the feeling might not last long.

  2. Yes that is a fair point.  However, in theory they were all good signings. Rocastle had a good pedigree and reputation, as did Edwards.  Tudor had ripped us apart at Orient and Miller also had a good pedigree.  None of them worked out agreed, but at the time they were signed we were all pretty content.  Perhaps they did not work out so well because Martin was not the ideal manager to get the best out of them.
We need to look at all of the Tinman's signings.  Other signings for us that were not so bad, Dean Smith, Nathan Lowndes, Robin Hulbert. Mark MacGregor,
Signings who were more than ok, Marc Richards, Leon Constantine, Akpo Sodje, Luke Rodgers, Danny Whittaker, Danny Sonner, Tony Dinning, Paul Harsley..  Any of those strikers or midfielders would walk into our team right now.  All of that lot cost us in the order of £50,000 in total.
To sum up someone's success at recruitment you need to look at the big picture not just one small period in the calendar.  The great John Rudge signed some awful players, signings is a percentage game.  Overall, Martin Foyle's record is decent.
So with respect, I was around in 2007, and have been around watching Vale for over 60 years and my memory is pretty damn good.
Dean Smith and hulbert need to be added to the awful signings list aswell!
  3. That'll be when loft shoots and the ball gets wedged between uches bum cheeks then
Not a chance. Musselwhite was OK but Neale, Ripley, Stowell were better keepers and Goodlad is the best keeper I’ve seen in 40 years of watching the Vale.
Behave Musselwhite did it in the championship over a long period.

  4. I wouldn't give rudge the job as he deserves to enjoy his retirement. However, I'm sure he gives Carol advice and someone to talk to and gives his opinion on things. He travels to all the away games with her does he not?

  5. Rudge was great but even he went on a run of 18 games without a win?However,he made up for that by signing some great players such as Osher Williams,Alan Webb,Andy Jones,Mark Grew,Ray Walker,Bob Hazell,Darren Beckford,Simon Mills,Darren Hughes,Gary Ford,Dean Glover,John Jeffers,Neil Aspin,Nick Cross,Kevin Kent,Robin van der Laan,Martin Foyle,Keith Houchen, Peter Swan,Ian Taylor,Paul Musselwhite,Steve Guppy,Tony Naylor,Jon McCarthy,Lee Mills,Ian Bogie,Gareth Ainsworth,Peter Beadle,Michael Walsh and Marcus Bent.Sorry if I've missed anybody.
Recruitment is critical and sadly we have gone downbank?
Peter Beadle was no replacement for Mills.

  6. The Robbie Williams ‘Homecoming’ concert in June 2022 was fantastic. And he showed off the new kit for 2022-23. Great advertisement, must have attracted the fans, non-fans and the interest of the general public at large. Must have been a nice little earner, too. So why has a Vale Park Robbie Williams concert not become an annual event? Drainage works at the end of last season prevented it in 2023? Anything planned for Robbie at Vale Park, concert-wise, in 2024?
    Surely a wind up.
  7. I don't know if there will to be honest. Football fans are very fickle. If we rebuild and are challenging for promotion or playoffs next season we all know crowds will be up not down on average, we will be televised a few times and will probably have a lower wage bill plus the much maligned new suite and corporate facilities will be bringing in twice as much revenue over the summer months before a ball is even kicked.
If we're winning, fans will attend. The players will be on lower wages. League two is what she wants. Quids in. Smurf said something similar. We were making a profit before covid happened in league two.
  8. I'm not sure Carol wants us to stay in league one. Probably make more money in league two If we're in and around the top six. Fans will always come an watch a winning team pushing for promotion, and the players will be on lower wages. Winner winner chicken dinner. Think, smurf said something similar when he was un charge.

  9. If you look at the highest earners at the vale
    Uche is on £4500. & Ojo £4300
Wages have been wasted on mediocrity
The blame lies at the door of Fraudcroft
Chances are £4500 & £4300 doesn’t get you an awful lot at this level.  Plenty of clubs will have players on 5 figure weekly salaries.
No I didn't unfortunately, I just wondered if these figures are official released from the club.
Why would the club release everyone's wages. Lol.
