Wow, this is getting beyond paranoia now. HE IS A LOWER DIVISION CENTRE HALF. Giving penalties away is part of the job description. Are you delighted with James Wilson and Ethan Chislett because they never concede penalties.

Are you saying you will pack in going if the Vale are relegated? . If so that is a statement of its own

He’s also a professional footballer who gets well paid

Genuinely I think that everyone within the club, especially Carol, got carried away after promotion and the ludicrous amounts of positive press she received. She believed her own hype. OBE, award-winning darling of football.

Dissent was removed from the club. Fans, and their opinions, were shut out and resented. Flitcroft was deified in her eyes. They could do no wrong and they were going to inexorably build to the Championship and everything would continue to go well as they’re all brilliant. Anyone with any doubts could leave. The letter is a microcosm - we are right, you don’t get it. We are brilliant. She imposed a model onto the club that the fans didn’t want or need.

A sad, cautionary tale about ego, arrogance, and humility. A classic tragedy - the rise, the hubris, the fall.

League 1 status was never a given. It needed sensible hard-work, constantly reflecting and improving. The nuts and bolts needed to be secure. There should have been zero talk of the Championship, of daft infrastructure, until a really solid, reliable League 1 core had been assembled. Carol thought she’d cracked football, had solved it. Look how great she was doing!

We will go down, and right now Carol is in the denial stage of delusion. Her speech last night showed the first cracks appearing. The penny is dropping, far too late, and she’s trying to convince herself based on chats with the family of the new coaches. It’s desperation.

I still think she’s a well-intentioned, naive woman who got far too full of herself and Flitcroft as DC delivered on the pitch. She equated DC and AC’s excellent management with something a lot bigger. She genuinely trusted Flitcroft to sort everything out, and has become way too dependent on him. She’s made mistakes the same way all of us have in work.

I sincerely hope this summer is a reflective period for her. Take some time away. Go to Supporters Club meetings and listen to Dicko and Porter. Get some critical, cynical, experienced figures in the club. Reorient the finances to focus heavily on the first-team budget. She can still salvage a positive legacy, but she has squandered the legendary status she was assured in June 2022.

We’re can you listen to her speech

If we cut out the errors and get our best players on the ball in the right areas (Chislett trying to dribble into their box not out of ours!) we can win and regain confidence.

Love your optimism but in reality that ain’t going to happen 3 wins in 25 we’re feckin <ovf censored>

This is not a criticism of Auntie Carol in the slightest, however, when we are throwing mud at David Flitcroft and his lack of signings, when all said and done, we dont actually know what, if any budget he had available.

There is the scenario in an alternate universe where that DF is actually the non-fall guy for Carol, taking the majority of the flak when equally he has his own hands tied with a lack of funds.

Who knows, but out of all the scenarios put out there, I dont think this is that far fetched.

All I know is that if words were to come out of the club saying that we are skint, fans would be far more forgiving and a lot of those now not attending would probs come back into the fold

You’ve hit the nail on the head there , that’s why carol has defended Flitcroft because she knows the restraints he’s working under here is £300 go get me a decent motor

I'll renew mine. Football is my release. Vale are my club. I've no interest in removing Carol from the club and she isn't monetarily profiting from the club, so withholding funds will only hurt the club and the team further.

I held money from Smurthwaite and MOLD, but this is a completely different battle imo.

I won’t be renewing mine and the wife’s had 2 for the last 10 years bit disillusioned with

    the whole thing

  6.  Carol is the only one to blame all the good work of getting promoted and all the optimism has gone she’s no different from the rest of the owners ( apaart from smurfwait) and won’t spend on the main thing the players  had  two season tickets for me and the wife for the last 5 years but feck it won’t be having 2 for next season totally fecking pissed off tonight

So our two best and most influential midfielders are out injured. What do people expect?Who can we bring in of equal quality and influence?
We aren't allowed breathing space to try and sort an affective midfield, during a game, without people going mental. The midfield was obviously severely lacking yesterday, for all to see, resulting in 60 odd mins of being over run.
However our defence held firm and Ripley wasn't really tested, apart from making one decent save, and we grew into the game after formation changes and subs etc and came away with a point.
Just the fact that we had formation changes shows that the management were more than aware of our lack of midfield and were juggling on the hoof thru the game to come up with the best option.
Boxing day should, hopefully, be alot different.

He played one of our best and influential midfielders at centr half for 3 or 4 games

I would like to see us stay up without a last minute panic and develop some of our youth players for next season.

It'd be great to see plant play in his proper position, get Walters signed on a 3 year deal and keep giving him game time.

We play more passing football this season but how much of that is because of Arblaster and Devine? Be good to start see us build a decent team that we own. For me loan players should be a something extra, but this season they are our backbone.

Just gradual progress really. Be great to become a team like Peterborough. I don't think there is much difference in fanbase. Just that they've been through a lot more cycles of getting good players, selling well and reinvesting. We are just starting that journey.

Plus the owner puts in millions

Same here mate. Never booed any Vale player/team. If they play badly just leave silently, which should give the same message without the vitriol. I also go to see the opposition and recognise when we have been outplayed, such as the Barnsley home match last season. We are not Manchester City and never will be.

We’ve just lost 7-0 on the opening day of the season supporters pay a lot of hard earned money to watch their team we at least expect 100% effort from the players yesterday was totally unacceptable and if they want to boo them then they have the right i personally didn’t boo as I left on the hour after the 5th goal

Should we all sit in the same stand? Would be nice to go to a game and not hear "your f****g <ovf censored> vale" after the first pass is misplaced 20 seconds in.

I know this is all a bit tongue in cheek but it has been <ovf censored> tiring listening to people talk about the club as if they aren't even trying to get players in all summer. The same people saying the same old <ovf censored> who talk like they know any of the process required to get players in, especially strikers. It isn't football manager or fifa. We are near the bottom of the pecking order in league one to sign a striker both on location and size of club. It isn't always about money.

Burton Albion must be a bigger club then and are only up the road but they managed sign 2 decent strikers
