  1. Sad to hear that John Archer has died aged 80. Started his career at Port Vale, and played in Crewe’s 1967-68 promotion side before joining Chesterfield. He was from Biddulph and I played cricket with John, in the late 80s for Congleton Borough Council midweek team, he was very competitive and a fine slow bowler. He loved to play cricket and was always trying to wind up the opposition!
  2. Oh, our game is off on Saturday, COVID-19 in the Gillingham squad.
  3. The usual England batting collapse. I’ve been impressed with Robinson though!
  4. We should have bowled first! One of Broad or Anderson should have played, can’t see Leach taking many wickets. Maybe the rain will save us.
  5. Oh my word, we are up to the dizzy heights of 23rd!
  6. Stoke seem to be doing quite well this season…..
  7. Oh my word, we actually won a game! I need a lie down. You could have done without that spectacular own goal, what was he thinking?
  8. When did coal mining end in North Staffordshire?
  9. What a great game that was, thought it was interesting when the commentator mentioned that Stockport had been a Championship club at the same time that Crewe and Vale were, also Bury too!
  10. Woo woo! WE’RE ON THE FAST TRAIN TO LEAGUE TWO!!
  11. We have lost the core players from our promotion season in 2019-20, so we will start again in League 2 next season.
  12. Having spent most of my childhood living through the dismal 70s and endless re-election years (with the occasional pleasure, beating Birmingham 2-1 in the League Cup in 1974/75 was a highlight as they were Division 1 team, then losing to eventual winners Aston Villa after a replay, in front of a 12,000 crowd), I accept that Crewe must be one of the smallest towns to have a league club, but then this is why we support our home town team. Does Vale’s support come mainly from Burslem and Tunstall?
  13. The club has been a laughing stock for the last few years. Southend is a big town, sorry city, but the club is poorly run.
  14. I’m not sure what is happening with Lowery but he made a big difference when he came on, hopefully he can go to starting matches as he is a great talent. If we go down then that’s fine, we are a League 1/League 2 club!
  15. I went to Wycombe on Saturday, as it’s a local game for me. We played really well, but Wycombe are a very physical side, who were just launching the ball into our box for the last ten minutes. The referee was awful, probably the worst I have seen for a number of years. I have to say though that the Wycombe fans were very friendly, they had a marquee in the car park open to home and away fans with a bar, live music and a big screen to watch Norwich getting hammered at Chelsea. The beer was local from the Rebellion Brewery in Marlow.
  16. Well, they are my club, so that will be the case until I die, but I accept that for the smaller clubs you just have to enjoy the good times and accept that the club will go through bad times as well, on and off the pitch. I saw the highlights of your defeat at Sutton and the long throws were causing you problems, but then you get quite a few Route 1 clubs at this level. I think you will go up this season, either automatically or via the play offs. Good to see you have good people running the club. My son is at Keele University now, so has been able to get to a couple of Alex matches. He went into a pub in Newcastle wearing a Crewe shirt and got some funny looks!! I’m pleased Bowler has gone and we now have a new chairman who seems more in tune with a need to make amends for the awful things that happened at the club 30 years ago. As for Artell, I can see how he winds people up, but he’s done a good job over the last 3-4 years, but he’s got a long winter ahead of him.
  17. It’s your resident Crewe fan here, looking bleak for us this season, we have lost all our best players that won us promotion two years ago - Ng, Kirk, Pickering, Dale, Wintle. Lowery doesn’t seem to want to play any more and we are relying on loan players. Looks like we could be passing you on the way down, but that, as they say, is football! Will be going to Wycombe next week as it’s a short drive for me, but can only see a defeat there.
  18. What is going wrong at Vale Park, I had you down to make the play offs! Looks like we will be heading back to League 2, as we have lost all our decent players over the last 12 months.
  19. Sadly, another player struck down with dementia.
  20. It seems like he wasn’t happy with the way he was treated in his final days at PVFC.
  21. Is it true Tom Pope and Gary Roberts have signed for Congleton Town FC?
  22. Andy Scoffin, the match day announcer at the Alex, died yesterday. He was a lovely bloke and loved his job. There will be a tribute to him before today’s friendly with Wolves.
  23. How good must it feel to score 200 on test debut at Lords!
