First things first Peterborough are the best team I've seen this season and the left side of Burrow and Mason Clark will give better sides than us problems but we didn't really give ourselves a chance last night. Plant did his best but it was clear from the first five minutes that we'd have problems down that side and we did nothing to combat it. We didn't change formation to combat their wide play and it was just a matter of time before they scored. I know their goals came via a deflection, a penalty and an own goal but your glass is more than half full if you think we were unlucky in any shape or form. We treated the game like a free hit and have placed all our hopes on the home games. Hopefully it'll be a successful tactic.

That’s my view although I’m not sure about the “free hit” bit.  Posh were on a different level with and without the ball, quicker and sharper all over the pitch.  We simply couldn’t cope.  When we won the ball they won it back with too much ease.  The only positive was we didn’t lose by more.  I was truly worried when I saw our team.  The whole thing highlighting again just how dire our recruitment has been.

    Depends on the Oatcakes

Poveys Oatcakes are spot👍 on where as

North staffs Oatcakes give the dining experience  of chewing rubber 😬

Each to his own. Nobody I speak to would agree with you on Poveys, although he sells plenty so they must have more fans than just your good self.

As we’re on the topic, does anyone know what’s going on with Hamil Oatcakes?  I notice they’ve been shut for a few weeks now.

Plus does not necessarily need to be on the field for 90 minutes, lots of players aren't! You will not dissuade me from my opinion anyway

It’s worth remembering we released Willo and, from the outside at least, appear to have only re-signed him after failing to sign our other targets.  I’d rather him than Loft but rather not keep him and Loft…..unless we sign an additional 3 strikers on top.

  4. Having lost today next Saturday becomes a must not lose.  After that Cheltenham play Tuesday whilst we play Wednesday. We’ll be level on games with Burton and Cheltenham will still have a game in hand.

Cheltenham have a game in hand on us, a better GD and have to play Burton.

The only ideal result in that match is a draw.

Indeed.  It was 0-0 when they played just a month ago so a repeat would be great but we have to pick a point or 3 up ourselves.

We only have to overtake Burton. They only have 5 games and 40 points. They are in dire form and though we have lost today we look like a side capable of creating chances and picking up points. They would need to win 3 of 5 to get to 49, which is a big if. We can catch them and hopefully Cheltenham don’t drop us back to 4th bottom.

Having to better the results of basically Burton and Cheltenham to stay up doesn’t sound like much of an ask really. Frankly if we can’t do that, we deserve to go down.

The slight problem is that they play each other, so one team is guaranteed at least a point, we’ve got no such guarantees.

I think we had a lot of the ball but didn't do enough with it in the final third 😬

We did enough to miss plenty of opportunities to either bury the ball in the back of the net or make a simple pass to a better placed player. Chislett, Uche, Garrity, Smith should all be scoring.

  9. Today was another stark example of our terrible recruitment, although as bad as we were I thought we were better than the Cobblers for the majority of the game, yet we walk away on the end of a 2-0 defeat because we’ve missed enough chances to win 2 games but conceded 2 soft goals from our own bad play.

Ah yes, Roman roads, a nod back to far happier times, before the pot hole had been invented.

I was watching a video today of Popey playing for Within Albion the other day.Scored 2 cracking goals one of which was a run with the ball past a couple of defenders and blasting it into the roof of the net. The other was a typical Popey header. The lads still got it.

“A run with the ball past a couple of defenders”?  What were they wearing on their feet? Lead diving boots?

    Not really Ray.

    It works both ways.

I would say my piece face to face and hope I would get some debate back.

Problem being is that when I would meet that person and say what I think, they would crumble. And if they didn’t we’d be mates for life.

There is two kinds of keyboard warriors.

Most folk will find it far easier to express themselves on here than to some stranger sitting next to them in the stand.  That’s fact.

Great result yesterday, one of the things which has been mentioned but is a real shift from previously is the no-nonsense defending. So many times there were situations where a ball forward was played through by BR, an attacker would be chasing and we hoofed it off the side to safety.

Before they would let it bounce, try to get it under control and play it out, or make a risky back pass to the keeper. We conceded so many stupid goals of our own making like that (both by inviting pressure and the defenders always looked in 2 minds as to what to do). Now it seems they've changed to a simple 'if in doubt' mentality and looked solid doing it for the first time. Just hope we can keep it up!

There’s a lot more fight and aggression throughout the team.  It’s not always about winning the ball outright, sometimes just preventing the opponent from winning the ball cleanly is enough.

The other big change is that we’ve cut out a lot of the unforced errors that were so costly.  We’re still making errors, all teams do, but they’re not killing us as they did in some of the earlier games under Moore.

Just a question wife wants come along tomoz if ON ,I'm.a season ticket holder does that automatically knock the 4 pounds off or do you have to have membership too .

Last season had membership and season ticket as paying for lads but this year got his own well i paid for it so not entirely true however haven't got a membership this season as haven't needed one etc.

I think I’m right in saying your season ticket won’t get her any discount, at least I’ve not noticed any when buying tickets for folk this season.

And someone on here said he almost put it over the bar just so they could say something negative about it 🤣 it’s a good finish with a defender sliding in.

“Just so they could say something negative about it”?  Far from the truth.  From our angle, in that instant when he hit the ball it was rising pretty sharply.  Quite simply the guy doesn’t have a lot of form for hitting the target.  It was a good strike no question.

Right behind it. No chance was he missing. Helped that he didn't have time to think. Unlike the first half miss.

We weren’t in line with the shot, we were the other side of the goal with Loft in front of us. As he smashed it and it rose we were expecting to keep going.   Like you say, he had little time to think.  Chizz was a little unlucky to score from Lofts pass.  I’d have Chislett start before Wilson personally.
