  1. I still think we'd concede playing with a back ten.
  2. Of course, memory failed me for that one. Thanks for the correction.
  3. Wayne Steggles, all of a sudden becomes world class.
  4. Exactly this. I can only speak for myself, but, when we were beating Everton, Man City, Sjoke, to name but a few, I couldn’t give a flying flamingo about the state of the bogs, or anything else,, other than what we were being treated to on the pitch. Different times, of course, but it all started with Kevin Finneys late winner against Macc, followed by the £3k that Rudgie paid Rhyl, for Mr.Andrew Jones. One day, hopefully when it's not too late, someone with a bit of influence at the club, will get out of bed one morning and say ''Oh yeah, I can see now what will get the fans in to the ground" I can tell them for free, that it isn't to prioritise 3rd party infrastructure, in cart before the horse fashion.
  5. Decent post until you mentioned Smurf.
  6. Possibly ,the most succinct post ever.
  7. I judge people as I find them too, but I judge employees on performance and his has fallen massively short, as displayed by the main KPI, namely, the league table, which is determined by the product on the field.
  8. Bottom line is, Flitcroft has assembled this abysmal squad and must take sole responsibility. As for the plaudits that he's got for attracting DM, we wouldn't have needed him if Flittcroft hadn't decimated and weakened the squad. All that hard work and progress is now warm, yellow and running down the wall in the form of a long thin stream.
  9. And how many times have we read on this forum, Carol should sell up?
  10. Must be a husband and wife thing, because I said exactly the same thing to my wife. Only thing is, we seem to be not quite as bad as them lot, which should be even more as an incentive to stay in this league, because they ARE coming down. P&G is classic with them tonight. Apologies, the qoute should have been in quote to Davehartshill
  11. I didn't say he wasn't the right candidate or that I didn't want him as manager and I'm very aware of his good achievements at previous clubs. Just expressing a concern that means he may not find this such a straightforward job. Also, he's just experienced a 3 wins in 23 spell, like we've just had, so for his sake and ours, I hope it's not a case of out of the frying pan, in to the fire.
  12. Only uncertainty with Darren Moore is that although he managed to push Wednesday over the line, he did it with a superior budget to what he'd get at the Vale and players to match. Fear he may find it a struggle, unless we can go out and get the likes of Barry Bannon
  13. No mate, apologies for the generalisation, apart from RZ
  14. Every manager has a shelf life and AC had his a while ago. The realisation that he set up not to lose and still did, did it for me. Terrible approach to play like an away side at home. He clearly hasn't been houded out, but faced the inevitable, even with the bad luck and injury situation.
  15. How managers perform at non league level means Jack when it comes to league 2 football, let alone L1 level. Yes, there are some good ones, but there are very few. John Askey was brilliant for Macc, but just couldn't cut the mustard with us. Even managers with league success aren't guaranteed Messiahs. People saying about the Cowleys. They've done zip, since they left Lincoln, check how they're doing right now at Colchester. Of course, someone's got to do it, but every appointment is a gamble, though at our level, some seemingly less so than others, eg Steve Evans, but even he couldn't handle it at Leeds. It5s always been a concern to me how much a DoF interferes with a managers plans, should there be a difference of opinion, which is why a Steve Evans type could quite easily reject wanting to come to us unless he had full reign, but that's what successful manager's insist on. Imagine Clough, Ferguson, Shankley, or even Mickey Adams having to answer to anyone, regarding football matters and I'm rather surprised that DC did. Anyway, time will tell, but this appointment is crucial and if the powers that be don't learn from their previous mistakes, then we're all in for a very uncomfortable period. Glad I don't have to choose the next one off the rank. The only thing that is a nailed on certainty, is that whoever we appoint, some on here will moan their bags off from day 1, if its not their preferred choice. UTV
  16. Didn't know we are after diamonds, so it'd be interesting to know where there is one.
  17. Where's Smurf when we need him? Hang on, what's Bill Bratt doing? A real fan he was
  18. Absolutely and don't forget Weir can belt them as well. Only concern is if we can defend midfield as well as attack from it.
  19. After all the rumours and speculation, it's brilliant to see this move materialise. Not too long ago, those rumours and speculation served only to sell disappointment, but how things have changed. In fairness to the lad, he must have his head screwed on, not for it to be turned by some of the "bigger" clubs he was linked with, so good youth for chosing the Vale. I hope our fans allow him the time to adapt and not expect him to pick up where Alfie and Blaster left off, because despite the hype, he's still only 19 with a lot to learn, though of course, he's clearly very talented and because of what we saw in those two, expectation will and should be there. Welcome Dan, you've come to our club and we'll look after you, if you play to your ability, the fans will love you to bits and when the time comes for you to return to Old Trafford, you'll do so a better player, better person and with the fondest memories of the Vale and SVA.
  20. Don't know, but apparently, he's on fire at the moment
  21. Proven goal scorers, this and that, then how many toys were launched out of how many prams when we didn't sign them? Same with Nicky Maynard. BTW, irreverent now, but apparently,Alfie had an impressive debut for Plymouth and on another note, I see that JA is no longer Hartlepool manager, having been replaced by Kevin Phillips.
