Bottom line is, Flitcroft has assembled this abysmal squad and must take sole responsibility. As for the plaudits that he's got for attracting DM, we wouldn't have needed him if Flittcroft hadn't decimated and weakened the squad. I didn't say he wasn't the right candidate or that I didn't want him as manager and I'm very aware of his good achievements at previous clubs. Just expressing a concern that means he may not find this such a straightforward job. Also, he's just experienced a 3 wins in 23 spell, like we've just had, so for his sake and ours, I hope it's not a case of out of the frying pan, in to the fire.

Every manager has a shelf life and AC had his a while ago. The realisation that he set up not to lose and still did, did it for me. Terrible approach to play like an away side at home. He clearly hasn't been houded out, but faced the inevitable, even with the bad luck and injury situation.

How managers perform at non league level means Jack when it comes to league 2 football, let alone L1 level. Yes, there are some good ones, but there are very few. John Askey was brilliant for Macc, but just couldn't cut the mustard with us. Even managers with league success aren't guaranteed Messiahs. People saying about the Cowleys. After all the rumours and speculation, it's brilliant to see this move materialise. Not too long ago, those rumours and speculation served only to sell disappointment, but how things have changed. In fairness to the lad, he must have his head screwed on, not for it to be turned by some of the "bigger" clubs he was linked with, so good youth for chosing the Vale. I hope our fans allow him the time to adapt and not expect him to pick up where Alfie and Blaster left off, because despite the hype, he's still only 19 with a lot to learn, though of course, he's clearly very talented and because of what we saw in those two, expectation will and should be there. Welcome Dan, you've come to our club and we'll look after you, if you play to your ability, the fans will love you to bits and when the time comes for you to return to Old Trafford, you'll do so a better player, better person and with the fondest memories of the Vale and SVA.
