One of the very few highlights of our season was seeing Ollie in a Vale shirt, having such a tremendous influence on games. Undoubtedly our player of the season!

Great shout. Hope he gets it.

Would be an indicative reflection on the rest of the squad.

It’s not an “old chestnut” though is it? It’s still raw considering it was only one year ago.
The point being that from that point, give or take a few weeks, the club has been sinking like a ship ever since.

Good people at this club have been tossed aside like yesterdays news. Colin being one.

I said all along Carol was being gaslighted by Flitcroft. I’ll stand by that forever and a day. And it’s not an easy thing to come to terms with once you realise it.

Her relationship with Colin always seemed strong. And especially Clarke.

It was a sad end and the start of our ultimate demise unless an absolute miracle happens on Saturday.

Agree. CG was a pivotal stong point in the stability and sensible decision making of the club. I feel it's no coincidence that the club has been in general disarray, since his swift and unexpected departure. Absolutely top bloke who kept our rickety ship steady, even in the roughest waters.

Uche was absolutely shattered when he went off. He should have gone off earlier in my opinion, possibly at half time. I don't accept Moore did much wrong. Exeter were a much better side than us. The players have to go out and perform and they were simply outplayed by a better team. To be honest I watched Exeter warm up and thought we were in for a difficult game. We did well to be ahead at half time, but were no match second half.

Funny you say about the pre match warm up Warren, because I noticed that aswell. I said to the wife about the speed of their passes and first touch of their entire team, compared to ours.

OF, I think we were all desperate for a change and with DM’s experience thought that he might be our only chance to avoid the drop. That doesn’t mean ppl were happy with the other one still being in place, or a 5.5 yr contract.

PVFC must be on the soft touch scammers list with those in the footballing world. I’m not a fan of the individual but I think it’s time we gave that lump of lard Evan’s a call.

The club and players alike  are all soft touches. Wouldn't hurt to have had a conversation with him, In the first place, even if we've had our moments with him in the past. He's been very complimentary to Carol in the past. Him, or Alan Wilde, would have been  my preferred options. Still, I suppose time will tell, if DM is all that he is meant to be, if he decides to continue the challenge.

It’s been clear from day one that Moore is terrible. Clueless. Anyone who thinks Tom sang is a centre half needs to be relieved of their duties. I’ve never known a manager able to sabatage themselves so consistently as him.
When we needed a new manager I asked for one thing. A thorough recruitment process. And for the second time in a row the owners bragged about not doing that as though it was a good decision and gave him a five year contract. One interview with the guy would have told you enough.

And yet roll back a few weeks to the number on this very forum, creaming over his appointment. Listen to it now. Why did they think that another 3 wins in 23 games manager would be just what we needed. So the cycle of Port Vale continues be the definition of mugging off and ineptitude.

One of the worst aspects is you knew within a couple of minutes of the second half starting how the pendulum was swinging and we did nothing to counter it. The moment they got one back you just knew the capitulation was coming. Pretty numb to it though at this point.

All day long. Everybody knew that was inevitable, the moment the whistle blew, for that start of the second half.

Big shout out to all the supporters who called the meeting with Carol, a job well done .

I wonder how long, have the inner circle of these supporters, been aware that this decision was going to be a distinct possibility?  I suspect that one or two have been in the know for a couple of days, if not more.

Obviously, Old Fort, you have not been reading this thread.

I'm only responding to people who have been saying that we should not have sacked Crosby.

So, before you get involved, have the decency to read this thread

Fleetwood looked dead and buried so they brought some players in during the January transfer window, now they stand a decent chance of staying up. What a great idea, maybe we should try that one day.

Don't be daft, why would we go and want to do that for with phenomenal players we have?

I have not even mentioned Moore and his 8 games in charge.

You must be wearing a blind fold whilst sitting in the dark

Perhaps Brian, you should be putting these comments on the Crosby out thread, because this one is a Darren Moore thread?

No idea.  Its Crosby who I'm talking about here and wondering why people have started sticking up for Crosby even though it was his poor record that's put us in this position

Fair point Brian and not many wouldn't agree that Crosby had to, myself included, but you'd have just thought that Moore might have come close to being able to show something a bit more positive than he has, given his superior standing as an experienced manager.

    Are you counting cup games?

I'm just counting the bread & butter, the league games.

Including the 4 games he was in charge last season and and the 29 this season, he only won 9 times in 33 games which saw us drop like a bomb, towards the bottom of the league.

Add into that, that he won 5 league games in the first 7 league games of this season, that means he only won 3 times in next 22 games before he was sacked.

3 wins in 22 games is horrendous.

But 3 I. 22, or 23? was Moores record also, at Huddersfield.   If he couldn't do it at one basket case club, why should he be able to do it at another?

Can someone give me a good reason, why I should buy a Season ticket next year?

Depends on which team you want to buy one for.

  15. I got turned over a bit on here, when I expressed some concerns about appointing Moore. I said that I hope it wouldn't be a case of out of the frying pan, in to the fire, if he brings his 3 wins in 23 form with him, to us, but it's really starting to look that way. Even though he's inherited an awful squad, we actually look worse than before he came. Even Crosby had decent wins and performances against Blackpool and Wigan and Will Ryder got a visible response from his 2 games in charge. Unfortunately we've not seen anything positive and his interviews are as embarrassing as his teams performances.

All I can hope for, is that, if he stays after relegation, that he takes over decisions on recruitment and proves that all the hype that many fans were gushing at his appointment is reflected with a sensational up turn next season, because so far, he's failed in every aspect.

I doubt even Pep or Klopp could get a tune out of our squad, so it’s a free hit for Moore. Granted, he’s missing but none of it is down to him.

The quality in the squad is woeful, but it's slightly concerning that the players showed more intensity and commitment for Will Ryders 2 games, than we've seen for any of Darren Moores.

We can not build a new squad because bottlejobs like Ojo and many others are still under contract for next season.

But then, match revenue will be down by between 600k to 800k with lower home crowds and sparse away followings to VP

  18. The post match interview, was one of the worst that I've ever seen from a Vale manager. Completely failing to acknowledge that the second half performance was totally abject  and that the team who stuffed us 3-0 just a few weeks ago and are certain to be relegated, battered us again  for the entire second half and were unfortunate not to have got all three points.

You've really got to be super optimistic to pick any positives out of that and as a manager, of course,  he has to, but despite us being 2-0 up and good value for it, from the moment the second half kicked off, we all knew what was coming, except the manager.

    Just shocking all round.
