Cambridge bring in Garry Monk. Wonder if they will get a new manager bounce

I wonder if he won the job based on a strong interview beating a selection of candidates or it was a name the chairman had heard of and thought “ I want him”

"He had a setback with his injury, just soreness with his injury. He didn’t feel right, felt he would be putting himself in danger of something more (serious) happening. He didn’t feel 100 per cent and didn’t feel he could give his full commitment today"

Sounded like Wilson didn't fancy it yesterday rather than the old sports scientists saying the computer says no

Knows his career is over at Vale and saving himself for a new contact elsewhere.

He said he wanted a squad of strong, physical players and we got the likes of Josh Thomas and Dan Gore. Not sure how much input he had in recruitment.

I agree Wrex the squad didn’t much resemble what Crosby stated in pre season but he signed off on everyone.

We need an effective recruitment system, who controls it, does not matter. Whether it changes every time the first team manager changes or whether it is coordinated with the academy/junior system is a matter of choice. Really depends on the size of the club and where the funding comes from. Vale are expecting the academy to supply far more players than previously, but it wiĺl take a few more years for that to happen.

    Think you’re right Fosse.

I do think some fans forget NO player is signed without the manager say so.

Crosby has also <ovf censored> us over with some of these players not to mention his <ovf censored> game management.

I'd rather at this point then him tell it how it is. Sick and tired of cover ups and bullsh**. I

I think us fans are being looked at as idiots the constant cry to 'get behind the the lads' is a load of rubbish as we know there's not even the effort on the pitch to justify our money and our support let's not forget we are working class people who are spending our time and money with our families before we go back to work! And then the constant need to be guilt tripped I.e Carol's open letter and Flitcrofts podcast. Either way, it's plain to see there's no effort on that pitch  and somebody has to come our and take some f***** responsibility for what we endure week in week out.

I could take a team that's just not good enough, but these lads aren't trying. Bar a handful.

I agree with you to an extent.

I think that’s what Flitcroft should have done a while ago. He needed to front up own this mess and tell us like it us.

I don’t think Moore is in that position yet. He needs them on side whilst we are still just about in touch.

When we are all but down I think you’ll hear a very different tone.

I’m not particularly trying to defend DF, but do we agree it’s a budget problem? Surely any decent league 1 player will come Vale if we pay them enough?

Our budget is comparable to other clubs looking for mid table. I know Baggers said 18th but I don’t believe there is much difference between us and 10 other clubs.

We’ve just not spent budget wisely for our senior pros in my view.

I thought Moore’s interview today hinted  he’s getting pissed off at the players and he’s trying to keep a lid on it.
Sounds to me like they aren’t listening to him and his coaching team’s instructions.

    Players don't give a sht.

    Senior players don’t give a <ovf censored> except Garrity.

Haven't been on for 3 days as it's demoralising reading and posting.

I still feel it's a free hit for Moore and today won't define the season but 1 point from 15 and conceding 2.4 goals a game since he took over means we have to score 3 to win a game.

Hopefully Oldham come up with Chesterfield instead of another pitiful team like Harrogate or Crawley.

October/November this began and we did nothing.  Pathetic.

Let me fill you in on what you’ve missed…

    Flitcroft out!

Carol’s brainwashed and culpable for not sacking Flitcroft.

Why haven’t we signed any free agents?

Think that pretty much sums up the past 3 days on here.😀

A month past the window closing and still no free agents. You’re telling me there is nobody available that could improve us currently. They are just sitting back letting us go down. Nothing from them. Why?

If I was a free agent I’d rather be unemployed and or chance my arm with a club in L2 trying to get into L1.

It seems we’re still deep in ‘process-mode’. Every signing has to be at a value, outsmarting everyone else to fit the ‘tactical, physical, technical, and psychological profile”. It has to be data-driven and a chance for the DoF to be the smartest in the room.

We seem to have had someone in and decided not to sign them.

Sometimes, all that needs to go and you just bring a body in for an inflated wage and a survival bonus. Someone the manager knows, or someone that comes recommended.

This obsession with refusing to pay market value, in finding undervalued gems misses the point that often you just need the obvious best fit and the inflated price they command. Not every signing has to be a Garrity or a Hall. Often, you just need Lee Hughes, Darren Purse, even a Chris Eagles.

The obsession with doing things in this process-way is likely going to cost us a place in this league. I genuinely think 10 randomly selected OVF posters would be doing a better job.

We had 2 players and decided against both.

While true, Moore has been a disaster so far. He hasn't even been able to achieve anything resembling a new manager bounce for a few games.

Cheltenham away 2-1 up with 30 minutes to play was our sliding doors moment.

While he's by no means responsible for this mess, he does come across as extremely dull and uninspiring. Not what you want or need when you have a bunch of largely poor footballers for the level.

What’s  worrying is we’ve looked worse under Darren Moore than we did with Crosby.

That sums up where we are with Carol Shanahan. The club had more integrity about it under Bill Bratt

Sorry mate but that’s the biggest load of <ovf censored> I’ve heard this year and don’t forget I’ve listened the Dave Flitcroft podcast.

The club is just a vanity project for Carol, in my opinion. Most people won't like it. Most people still think the sun shines out of her backside. That's fair enough. But the club will only continue to go backwards under her, regardless of what she does in the community for pats on the back.

    I do agree it’s a vanity project.

Yates has said those words, the Vale side are falling back and not pushing up now.

That will be the gate for Derby to start scoring goals.

Was taking the positive from the first half we were only 2 down.  Still time for them to score another 8 goals and put this into double figures.

Danny Murphy talked about a relegation fight at Fulham. He said Roy Hodgson used to sit back to protect goal difference once he knew the game was lost.

This defence is not fit for L2 though let alone L1.

Too late for me. I won’t be attending another game this season and I’m not watching us in league 2 again.  Not unless there is a complete clear out from top to bottom

£25 to watch L2 football is going to be tough to justify to myself let alone the wife.

  17. For the 1st time ever I’m checking out. I can’t watch this getting to angry

We look disorganised at the back, watching players run off us. This team is worse than Bruno/Brown .Zero fight or character with this group of players.

2 kids at WB’s, no strikers and not one CB worthy of L1.

    Thank you Flitcroft.
