Interesting your idea returning Balmer. I’d not thought of that but if it frees up a wage to help get players in areas we need then it’s a good shout. Conlon and Cass you’d expect to leave as they can’t even make the bench. I think we need pace at both WB positions and a Striker. Using the same logic with Balmer I’d return Thomas if it helped to free up cash for a 1st choice Striker.

I agree. Cracking prospect but thats all he is. Our selling point is we can offer a genuine crack at 1st team football now. If he went to Champ team he will just sit in the age group teams. Remember Joe Davis? Looked a good prospect who looked like he could have a very decent good but left to take more money to sit in Leicester Under 23's team.

A change in the managers approach would yield better results with either striker in my view, that’s not to say we don’t need a no.1 striker in the mould of a Mark Harris because we definitely do. I know I’m probably a lone voice on this but I’m convinced Loft can be a decent 2nd striker but think he’s is actually injured and we are just managing him. At his previous clubs I saw a player who wanted to run in behind, who was very physical and an all round bloody pain in the arse to play against. With us I see a player who just labours around and looks like he can’t be arsed. Somethings definitely not right with him. Maybe that wonderful manager and salt of the earth guy Joey Barton ruined him. Who knows? I just know he used to be half decent. Uche….well he probably shouldn’t be a footballer . He literally can’t run. Maybe he should try boxing ? He got a great body. I should know the wife had great pleasure taking a photo of him without his top off when he came over to the fans after Burton game.

I don’t like going for ex players but in the situation we are in I think Gibbo would be a great addition. Ship Cass out and replace with Gibbo. Big upgrade that for me. That nasty competitive edge is sorely missing in our team. I wouldn’t fancy our current squad to be able to battle out a relegation fight in March. I think a left footer should be the priority in the window. Maybe we will resurrect the deal for Denver Hume?

Possibly Brian but on the other hand when things are not going well this is when you find out about the character of young players and determines if they can play at higher level. I’d be more concerned a Champ club wants either player on loan and our loans are cancelled.

For me Devine has been one of our best players over the past 6 games. I thought he was excellent 1st half v Derby but sadly we don’t have players or tactics to capitalise on his passing and clever movement.

It really should help going after other loan players but somethings got to change otherwise PL clubs won't be sending prized assets to a relegation scrap.

To be fair Stockton and Walker have been injured most of the season to date ,Presley can't get in the team, JCH sulking he didn't get one last pay day, Tyrese Simpson thinks he's a baller and therefore doesn't need to work hard because he had a good 3 months in L2 and Dale Taylor is not a proven goal scorer. I would still love to have Stockton in our squad.

I'm 50/50 on him to be honest, a decent option in the squad for something a bit different at the back. Unconvinced he can consistently play at L1 level but to be fair to him injuries have seriously hampered him .It would help if he can keep himself fit, doesn't seem to have had much luck with injuries since he joined us.

I’d rather have Jones than nobody. We are going to struggle the next few games with injuries and suspension.

If we didn't sign him all he could do is play in bounce and academy games so it makes sense to sign him short term before committing to a long term. If he was that good we would have signed him long term but he's not going to come into the 1st team.It gives us a chance to reassess other positions and the market as well to strategise the budget in January. You'd expect him to have at least 2 EFL trophy games to show what he can do. I watched him him play in a 7 v 7 small sided game last week, other than his size he didn't standout likewise he didn't look out of place. Rhys Walters and Alfie Devine however looked fantastic. I fully expect Arblaster to go back to Sheff Utd but I really think we have a ready made replacement in Rhys Walters. I just hope he proves it in the EFL games. Rhys is the best prospect I can remember at Vale since Anthony Gardner.

On a positive note with LB's I saw Dan Jones running on the grass yesterday morning so he must be feeling a little better. Hopefully he's only a few weeks away from given the all clear to join in training.

Anyone remember DC bemoaning we only had 1 player i.e. Joyce capable of playing the holding role to play 433? We have done exactly the same thing this season with WB's.
