I never said she know nothing about football. But she's clearly learning as she goes along. But I think she's been making some poor decisions and I don't see any reason why they can't be called out. I'd rather see a decent striker on the pitch that can trap a football and score a few goals rather than a fancy new scoreboard that doesn't help to make our football team better. What's happening out on the pitch should always be the priority. Get that right and the rest of the stuff will follow.

I agree completely with your sentiment, I just disagree calling out Carol for making bad football decisions. It’s delegated in our structure.

As I understand Flitcroft turned down the managers job. That for me is enough and should not have been employed at PVFC, ever.

That’s fair a very valid point.

I’m no Flitcroft apologist but from a point of view of recruiting the manager that’s a good thing because the managers knows he’s not coming in with a DOF who really wants his job.

How many times has a DOF been bought only to get the managers job at the 1st sign of struggle?

  3. On a separate note something which really bugged me from the Crosby interview. His defence of our lack of goals was we weren’t performing above the XG and we should be if we want to be a higher team like Barnsley.

    Barnsley XG 24.9. Goals 34

    Vale XG 18. Goals 14

    Is he having a <ovf censored> laugh?

Barnsley are very much the outlier, the only club with a much higher differential in XG v actual. Most teams are within a couple of goals either up or down.

Taking fans for fools because we string a few passes together and it’s really pissing me off.

another reason why DOF isn't needed at a club like Vale. I know a lot of clubs have them these days but let the gaffer have the say & control etc to what happens on the playing side of things

World is completely different now. A manager doesn’t have time to do everything these days. I listened to a  Dave Bassett a few weeks back, he said it’s impossible to be a manager these days without having DOF support. If you look at clubs across the EFL they are all slowly but surely moving in the same direction.

The owner appointed both of those though. Carol has clearly made some mistakes and bad decisions. Now she has to do the right thing and change things while the season still has plenty of points left to play for and it's far from a write off. Keep Crosby on for another 2 months and we'll be planning for League Two sooner rather than later.

In one breath you want to say she knows <ovf censored> all about running a football club, in the next you want her to sack the manager? It’s the DOF’s job. He should be banging the table in the boardroom with all his stats and Brentisms to convince the board why they sign it off.

Think you are missing the point. We are crap because of the ownership issue. The buck stops with the owner. She employed them.

She employees the DOF to run all things football. That’s on Flicker not Carol. Flicker is Crosby’s boss.

If the DOF doesn’t act then that’s on Carol.

    That’s how our structure works.

Absolutely nothing to do with who owns the football club.

Yeh keep Crosby, Flitcroft, coaching staff, Carol they are all doing a mint job!

Have I ever said keep Crosby, the coaching staff and Flitcroft?

I have been a strong advocate Crosby out since Cheltenham and he can take tweedle dee and tweedle dum with him.

Flitcroft has to show leadership and advise the board to <ovf censored> em all of otherwise he needs to go as well.

We are crap, it’s a football issue, not an ownership issue.

If you had paid attention then you would see that there has been no investment on the playing side for two years now despite making money from the play offs, Wembley, cup runs, player sales and record shirt sales. Hall, Harrison without replacing them. Budget cuts. Replacing an experienced manger in Clarke with the cheap option in Crosby. Clarke should have been given more time after what he went through, see Cheltenham now. Or an replacing an experienced well respected CE in Garlic with her son who knows zilch about football. Nepotism springs to mind, again cheap option. Speedy who was given the chop despite working hard for years without a thought for this.

If you had paid attention you would have noticed that there has been no attempt by Carol to invest in the Lorne Street Concourse so it is able to be opened. Or that it doesn’t take months to sort out a toilet block in the railway stand (so we are told it is the toilets) which has always been the most populated stand for fans. Again speaks of no investment no money.

If you had paid attention that you would realise that the scoreboard was gifted to the club. Or as you put it the suite was only finished as part of the concert agreement.

If you paid attention when was the last time we have any update from the club regarding anything concerning the club including any update of player contracts or injuries? I’ll answer that one for your, never.

If you had paid attention you would have seen that the club apologised to fans not long ago be because they are so poor at communicating with fans that they had to employ someone to do this. (Appears this is still not being done).

Saving money for the transfer window? Like they did the last couple of windows? Like starting the last couple of seasons with one forward. Budget cuts everywhere and if we weren’t paying a factions of wages on loans players like Arblaster or Devine where do you think we would be in the table now? The squad is threadbare.

If you had paid attention you would see that statistically Port Vale are the worst team this calendar year or maybe you are happy with this I don’t know?

I know for a fact that there has been a offer to buy the club but Carol won’t sell, is this the best for Port Vale? New investment who can progress the club. Seems like she wants to be remembered as the person who saved the club over the person who can progress it. I don’t need to name this wiling investor, why should I.

I suggest you take your head from out of Carol’s back side then you may be able to see abit more clearly.

Wow Blank N White I didn’t realise you were on the board to know the inner workings of our budget against last year and takeover negotiations. I’m sure you therefore you sat at the board table to sign off over 1million losses to get promotion from L2 despite playoffs and Wembley.

Why should Carol sell? Clearly the offer is not good enough for the family  otherwise it would be accepted. Up to the buyer to make the right offer.

Unless your connection is a Middle East country you have no idea how money is raised to fund a purchase and revenue streams moving to know if it’s in the best interests of Port Vale.

Why because she doing such a fantastic job? She’s the owner and the buck stips with her. It’s not good enough and hadn’t been for a long time.

Carol has done a great job yes. Many aspects of the club are in the best shape it has ever been however 1st team football has been <ovf censored> for 2023. Thats not Carol's fault.

The buck actually stops with the DOF. He;'s on the board and responsible for all things football. It his responsiblity with an average budget for the league to identify the right manager and recruit players the manager wants for his style of play. The blame for our failure is with the player recruitment and manager.

You could aim at Carol she has not provided enough budget. I know factually Bolton's average weekly wage is double our players but I would much prefer the sustainable build model we are trying to implement.

Agree...and I hope how Alfie and Ollie have done will make it easier to loan top Prem club's players for the future? Didn't Forest use around 6 loanees in their promotion season?

It really should help going after other loan players but somethings got to change otherwise PL clubs won't be sending prized assets to a relegation scrap.

Earth. He's playing in League 2 for AFC Wimbledon, not Barcelona. He would cost some money no doubt, but he's exactly the kind of player we should be trying to bag.
You'd more than likely be selling him on for atleast double what you paid for him as well in less than 2 years time.

Mate we can't even afford fix the bogs, never mind pay 1.2 million for a striker. Dream on

Piss on the floor some can invest in a LWB and Striker.

It's the elephant in the room as regards the move but there's seemingly no place for home and away fans chanting at each other at Vale any more. Sorry to say but a lot of the fun has been sucked out since the move. People can opine as they see fit about how it shouldn't matter but it does, and I'll say "Good luck" to anyone trying to get new fans to come along and enjoy a flat atmosphere.

I'd love to think that the move could be reversed but that won't happen.

I do agree to a degree but the issue with the atmosphere is the team. The majority of matches have been boring to watch. It’s up to the players to make things happen, excite fans to help generate the atmosphere. In every game this season we sit in pass the ball and wait to see what the opposition are doing. I long for the days when we go after teams in the 1st 15 mins because that gets the crowd going.

Whats worse ,which is how it felt in the away end Saturday, as soon as we concede you think game over and it goes very flat.

This will look like I'm targeting Loft ( Uche was equally rubbish) but at the end when there was opportunity to get bodies in the 6 yard box as we sought an equaliser , he was loitering near  the edge of the box with no endeavour to gamble and get amongst it near to goal. Hence on occasions Sangs crosses look poor . As I said Uche was equally culpable. They've got to show more desire to score a goal or at least have an attempt.

This is the crux of the problem for me. Teams just sit in a low block and deny the space centrally with no space between the lines. We work it out wide but we have no movement attacking the cross in the box except Garrity. Teams are making a safe bet on themselves to defend balls in the box against us.

The whole team is culpable but the onus has to be on Uche and Loft, thats why strikers get paid more money.

With zero penetration we would have no goals and no chances and you would be right to make that statement. But, you're not! And AC nor any other coach can eliminate personal errors from a player - because people make mistakes...but they don't plan to!

We are in the bottom 6  for XG and bottom 3 number of quality chances created. The stats and my eyes tell a different story. Only Shrewsbury and Cheltenham have a worse XG and quality chances created than us, both teams we have lost to.

You can keep ignoring it and lapping up what Crosby says about finishing chances but thats the reality.

I've rewatched the Shrewsbury and it's criminal the number of quality deliveries from Sang but we don't have any player wanting to make a run and attack the balls. Thats poor coaching

Thank <ovf censored> for a voice of reason!  No real surprise to see the likes of Emile, The Kalamazoo Kid and Brian Johnson supporting all the negative posts on here!

Flood midfield, pass the ball around sideways and backwards, dominate possession.

We have very slow play, predictable, zero penetration and no change of pace. It’s very easy to defend but the biggest issue is we are extremely vulnerable in transition.

I don’t think anyone could argue any different.

The question is do you really believe Crosby can come up with a different game plan or is prepared to try an alternative different to get a different result?

    Where was questions like

Why are we not changing formation to fit players that we have fit into there correct positions?

you say that we are going to carry on playing this way but surely if the results don't change we have to adapt and change?

do you not think teams have worked us out hence our run of results?

why do we only have two wing backs at the club when our whole system and attacking play is built around wing backs? Was this your decision are you happy with this?

are you allowed to change formation from 3 at the back or is flitcroft telling you its this way ?

Do you feel any pressure from the club to turn this run around?

have you been given striking options that your happy with?

Why do we look like we have no idea what to do after crossing the halfway line?

whats the point in keeping possession when we do nothing with it?

even when he said things like it was my fault for lincoln why not question why? what had he told the players. Why did he make the decision to sit back even when it was 10v10

Valid questions following a dismal defeat but on a Wednesday night prior to a game I’m not so sure.

You can ask these at the next Fans forum .

Ultimately whether you're Liverpool, Stoke, Rotherham, Crawley or Port Vale , 10 games with 3 points is a sacking.

It's quite a straight forward decision. Not even open for debate.

    0-3-7 or 1-0-9 . It's 3 points from 30.

    Disgraceful.

But we dominated possession with lots of passes sideways and backwards without pressure on the ball so we must be a good team.

Does the fault lie with him or the failure of the club to get a goalscorer in the summer?

If we weren’t like a sieve defensively we would be comfortably mid table. How many quality chances are we creating?  That’s the manager and his team.

No doubt in my mind a capable manager would have this squad mid table without the mythical goalscorer.

  19. I urge everyone to listen to the latest podcast with Andy Crosby interview. 1st half talks bout his career and then a real in depth and honest discussions about where we are and what we are trying to do.

Fantastic job by Jonny and Tom. Well done chaps.
