I’ll tell you what went wrong, we have 4 strikers, Wilson, Loft , uche and Dipepa between them they’ve scored the grand total of 5 league goals this season.
that’s why we can’t win a game of football and are going down.

Equally who’s creating anything for them?

I think the problems of this season began way back in the January transfer window of last season. Been a downward spiral ever since.

I think it goes back to the start of the season given some of the players we got in.

  3. Loads of factors.

Allegedly reducing the budget. All sources I know within the club said it happened and the Jan window of 2023 / the amount of people that left behind the scenes seems to bear that out.

Getting rid of players / offering them reduced terms isn’t an issue if we get in better players.  We didnt do that. We’ve lost characters in the dressing room that supposedly drove standards behind the scenes as well as looking like they cared when pulling on the shirt.

Being hamstrung to a formation and not recruiting players to fit that formation.

DCs personal issues came to the fore.

DF getting sole control with the removal of Garlick.

Carol focusing on things outside of what goes on the pitch.

You can certainly see why they are pushing for the playoffs.

Clark was nowhere near fit. Lowe isn't mobile enough to play in a midfield 2. Wilson really struggled first half as the ball just isn't sticking.

There players are ripping holes in Jones and Clarke.

    Come on Vale.

Clark should never have been on that pitch, not only did he look unfit but he looked podgy to me. It’s a sad indictment of the mess we’re in that a first team player has playing in that state. It probably says a lot about our recruitment too in that he’s had to play because we have no full backs.

    Nathan Smith.

    Again.

Just hang your boots up lad.

That ball has come through a crowd of players and hit smith in the chest. Not one player at the front area has gone up with any intent of winning it and watching it back just, it looks like right in front of smith that Debra ducks out of it. A similar thing happens on the second with Chislett I think not making any attempt to head it away when he looks favourite to win it easily. Shocking. Players have no desire to stick their head in.

Well if he has it’s not really appropriate for a loan player coming in to a side that's in deep relegation trouble. If it comes between backing someone who is under contract for next season and one who will be gone in a few weeks there is only going to be one winner. Of course this scenario has been invented in the mind of one poster and then presented on here as a near certainty.

Your last sentence covers it. It’s just something made up.

I’m not generally one for conspiracy theories, but this has a ring of truth. He seems quite vocal on the pitch, and was certainly a stand out at Cheltenham.

If we don’t intend to play him though, why get him in at all?

I would imagine he has told some Home Truths and you can’t do that Port Vale.

As some of us Fans have Found Out, the Club and a certain % of the Fan Base don’t like it, it doesn’t align and suit the Process.

    Christ.

Jacko, thank you for your reply. So are you going to enlighten all the fans that weren’t invited to this clandestine meeting, what was discussed. In relation to improving match day experience what about entertaining on the pitch, by playing a style of football that gives the impression that the players want to play for the club. If you tell me that they are phenomenal then we’ve signed some dross. Which I hasten to add the fans know. During the meeting, what was actually discussed, it comes over as gloating that you were invited to attend such a meeting. This is how you divide a fan base. So please tell us what was discussed and why you feel so positive about the meeting.
From a basic point of view, was the shoddy treatment of fans in the RP discussed, concerning the toilets.? Whilst I’m sure the groups that you mentioned are good ppl with the clubs best interest at heart and that they do lots of good work that others like myself don’t know about. You didn’t mention Colin Garlick in his role by helping to get rid of NS and look how that turned out for him. The only person to get rid of NS was Carol by purchasing the club for a sum that he was happy to accept.

VB, a very derogatory way of addressing other PVFC fans.

    The irony.

Seems to me that a decent cross section of fans attended and they asked the pertinent questions. As long as the concerns we all have are asked then there’s no issue from me.

23 - Cass, Politic, Harratt, Garrity, Benning, Jones, Pett, Walker, Wilson, Proctor, Hall, Charsley - 52%

    15 - Harrison, Butterworth, Ojo, Forrester - 26%

20 - Ripley, Devine, Arblaster, Chislett, Debrah, Sang - 30%

I had no clue what the numbers at the beginning and end even meant. Still it’s also worth noting that recruiting isn’t just an individual thing. It’s a group of players that you’re assembling. A collective. At the moment we are so far from looking like a team that’s it’s unreal. We’re more like a collective shambles. What flitcroft has done since the promotion season is indefensible

One things for sure. I can see with my own eyes that we’ve built a squad with hardly any goals in it, just looking at individual players stats tells you that. So what were our recruitment team seeing? We’ve decided to play a wingback system and we amazingly have no wingbacks. We have no strikers when we were drastically short of them in January and still are. We’ve tried to go to a back 4 and we have no fullbacks. Also we have that intangible thing of having no characters on the pitch and seemingly no togetherness. We had that in abundance 2 years ago when we went up. It’s been slowly dismantled.

But overall just look at our performances and league position. We are terrible. There’s no dressing up how bad the recruitment has been since promotion.  We were hearing rumours sneaking out of the club about flitcrofts “negotiation tactics” at the end of the promotion season when players were leaving or offered poor deals. It’s snowballed since then to the position we’re in now where his free rein has seen us have the squad stripped of characters and leaders to become an unbalanced mess with no one who we can feel connected to or invested in. He has to go. No ifs or buts.

Realistically I think we have a good crop of youngsters who can provide adequate back up in League 2 but only really Walters and Shorrock should be potential starters. Players to keep: Ripley, Leutwiler as backup, Debrah, Smith (but think he wants to leave), Clark, Garrity, Chislett, Plant, Jones, Sang, Ojo, Walters, Dipepa, Lomax, Shorrock, Ikpeazu, Wilson. Can't see Uche staying. Wilson is worth keeping on a smaller wage but he has to be one of 4. I make we need about 7/8 additions and we are desperate for leaders and physicality.

I don’t think any of the young lads as starters yet , neither are they players to build a squad around yet. There’s a long way to go in their development.

Garlick was good at his job  and

Fraudcroft is shyte at his job , mate

Garlick used to deal with all the player contract details and negotiations. Flitcroft took that off him so he could do it instead.

Garlick is also a person who’d been around football clubs in this role for a number of years, let’s not forget he was someone Carol relied on and turned to for advice. The cynical amongst us may say that with Garlick out of the picture it only leaves one person who Carol could rely on for football “advice”.

Its not as clear cut as people may think. There are 2 of our players in front of Ripley and I think smith is playing the lad on that scored.

Yesterday saw Mal Benning playing against us and having a decent game.  Nothing barn storming but steady.  That highlights exactly why we are in this mess.

Moving Mal on wasn't a problem, not replacing him with somebody better is.  You can draw a list of players we have moved on since Jan 2023 and you won't find many have been upgraded on.

We are here for one reason alone, recruitment or rather the failure of recruitment.  To my mind, David Flitcroft is responsible for these things and has to carry the can.

i think that since  promotion you can list quite a few players that have gone or been moved on and be hard pressed to say the replacements that we got in have been better. It’s been a disaster.

It was only 2 years ago when fans were screaming "trust the process" and Carol/Flitcroft got us promoted,  I anticipate even hope Flitcroft will be gone by the end of June just for a fresh start but Carol has to stay even if he doesn't go.

The “trust the process” phrase is an embarrassment. Since promotion whenever anyone on here criticised a decision to let a player go they’d be met with the same phrase. Embarrassing and yet another in a long line of management speak phrases that’s been trotted out. We’ll be using them in here for years to come.

We have needed a Manager with a Winning Mentality and someone who will galvanise the squad.

Not give it to a Sacked Manager on a 5 and Half Year Contract.

Every manager has been sacked at some point though. I think that the main problem is that we left it too long to let Crosby go.

And to think we let Benning go - to instead play Dan Jones there pumping endless balls straight back to the opposition.

Benning had to go for his own sake. Played in a wing back position that’s not his best and much maligned by fans, I bet he couldn’t wait to get out. Look at him now, playing in his familiar position and looking fitter than he ever did with us. Good on him.

See this so often. The other side are terrible, hinting that we should be beating these. They’re not that terrible at all. But we are.  There’s are no gimmes in this league.

Surprised Chislett and/or Mighten are not starting but the manager usually knows best.

Mightens done nothing to warrant a start and maybe he isn’t showing it in training. I think Chilslett is a luxury we can’t afford to carry at the moment.
