Probably see some better games from the amateurs than we’ve been treated to from the first team.

Pv1973, the released list will be very short as the majority are under contract for another twelve months, I can’t see us having the money to pay up their contracts. None of them have covered themselves in any glory this season so I can’t see us being able to sell them. As I said previously, I think we’ll need to strengthen even if relegated, so the best thing would be to try and get some of these lay abouts out on loan.
i would imagine that Moore will want to cut some of them loose, maybe other clubs will take them and their contracts get cancelled without the need for a fee.

What a crazy comment.
"Let's hire a bloke to sign good players with no track record of doing this for other clubs".
Sent from my SM-G981B using onevalefan mobile app
Do you know what you’re on about? You’ve moved your goalposts a bit.
The club will decide on the track record of a prospective director of football / head of recruitment, not a bloke on a forum asking other fans what “gems they’ve unearthed”. It’s not just about “gems” to build a football team. Remember that was your sole question about Foyle and you took great pleasure in quoting yourself and saying no one could answer you. But how could they when fans know nothing about other clubs and their recruitment? Like I said it’s up to Vale to decide that.- 1

I’d suggest whoever will be looking into recruitment for next season needs to be in place soon if we are to be approaching targets once this season ends in May.
This. Clubs will already be identifying targets and sorting their released list for next season.

Can someone tell me why we should consider Foyle, apart from being an ex-player/manager?
Examples of him unearthing gems etc?
It doesn’t bother me either way about Foyle, but I think it’s a daft question to ask about what gems he’s unearthed to justify him now being right for us. Because how would anyone know what gems he’s unearthed when no one is following the clubs he’s worked for? All people are seeing is that he’s been working in the game at that role for the last 10 years or so, on the face of it thats a lot of experience working as a head of recruitment. Also it’s not just necessarily about unearthing gems, it’s also about having the right contacts, building teams by bringing in the right type of players for them.

He came in for talks.
So I heard. Highly unlikely we’d have won out over Derby.

“Just so they could say something negative about it”? Far from the truth.
It was a veiled dig at him, no point trying to pretend otherwise and you know it was

You’re absolutely right. The behind the goal cam shows it well that defender would have blocked it if he went low so it was the one place he could hit it and the percentages were in his favour. Really well done.
Was a great save by Blackman too in fairness to him. He was copping it from the Vale fans all second half.
And someone on here said he almost put it over the bar just so they could say something negative about it 🤣 it’s a good finish with a defender sliding in.

What I love about that is how happy the players are for Loft. They know the stick he’s been getting has been a disgrace. Loft seems low key when it goes in too, understandably so given how some fans have been with him. I’m happy for Loft. He’s been the scapegoat for Flitcrofts failings. I hope he can shake that now.

Under the previous recruitment regime we seemed to gravitate towards players with long injury records. You reap what you sow.
Most players have some kind of injury record. Problem is that those players have been key to how we play and were usually straight back in when fit. Which says to me that recruitment wise we hadn’t quite got it right so that we had adequate strength and depth to be able to rotate players.

Thought plant was decent in this game despite being played out of position twice.
Uche not far away and will be helpful as a last 30mins chaos sub.
Clarke there or there abouts.
Be interesting to see how much of a high Dipepa is on after his U17 exploits. We might actually have a stronger first 11 and more threat on the benchDM hinted that Clark is going to be out for the season, as is Dan Gore
Someone said earlier we should get rid of Clark, not as easy as it sounds as I’m sure he still has a year left on his deal. Gore may as well go back (if he hasn’t already).

Caps off a good game for Loft that.

Expect when he’s played against us! Classic Vale have made him look like Messi down the years.
Yep. Sure he scored a couple against us for Scunthorpe a few years ago.

No point having a striker who can’t score. Any other job if you were this bad you’d get sacked. I do feel sorry for him as he’s out of his depth but it’s very frustrating to watch.
He’s never been a goal scoring striker.

His sheer presence round the club must be doing more harm than good. If you knew someone that has consistently underperforming / absolutely garbage but was earning significantly more than you then it’s ever likely some of the team have given up.
Who are you talking about ?

(Bad miss aside) I think Lofts playing well today.

He didn’t come in on trial. No way we were beating Derby to that signature either.

Dm said in his presser that the club had bought in 3 people 3 weeks ago as free agents to train, he was very guarded in his words but he arranged a closed doors friendly this week to see them in action and decided that after 3 weeks at the club they were no good. That speaks volumes for the standard of recruitment and that's the guarded "not backstabbing anyone" comments to the press. It's simply been a total <ovf censored> show and flitcroft is the person that was responsible for that.
You’re bang on. It’s way too late to be bringing in free agents as they’ll be nowhere near ready to go fitness wise.

Hopefully Clarke is fit enough today.
Based on last week Clark is miles off being match fit and needs to lose a bit of weight.

The fact that last season we started with Tommy McDermott as an emergency striker and currently have Dipepa as a better option than our champagne signing Loft speaks volumes for our recruitment.
Reset needed now. Fresh start.
It says that we recruited a striker in loft who isn’t a prolific goalscorer, his stats say it, everyone knows it’s What’s gone wrong is that we haven’t got the right players around him to get the best out of him and we haven’t got a way of playing that suits the players we have.

This squad is awful and DF leaving won't make any difference to that. We can only hope we rebuild well next season UTV !!
You’ve answered your own question with that last sentence. That’s probably why he’s gone now. It stops the abuse directed towards him during games. It stops Carol getting stick about him. It (hopefully) galvanises the fans to concentrating on supporting the team. It may mean that the reluctance to buy season tickets because of flitcroft being there isn’t as much of an issue now. It enables the club to now look at building for next season.

Option for DOF or similar role

They all should have a clause about a salary reduction if we go down. Usually it’s around a 25% cut.
