  1. Cambridge have also signed someone who’s scored a few goals before.
  2. Regarding Tommy McDermott. There’s sometimes a lot of luck involved in football when kids or players get scouted or picked up by another club. Someone could have been watching on a particular day who sees something in him that no one else has, a particular skill or attribute. Maybe on that day he ticks a box for a type of player they’re looking for. Dont blame him for going. He probably wasn’t going anywhere here, he’s got himself an instant pay rise and more levels of football to drop down to on loan or to develop. Good luck to him.
  3. It’s not the first time we’ve done something like that. Mitch Clark springs to mind too. Young players are idiots if they act like that, word of mouth in football means a lot.
  4. And that’s just the women (sorry ladies).
  5. Christ, a face only a mother could love. Shouldn’t be too worried about sticking his head in and getting injured.
  6. No why would he? He was going back to his parent club. it could have been missed. He might not have told Liverpool about it. It could have been more serious than he thought it was. Or who knows with football, it could be a smokescreen for another reason .
  7. If he’d told them about the injury he had of course.
  8. Liverpool don’t give a medical to player moving to another club though. The club they’re going to should do that.
  9. As daft as it may sound a performance like this on live tv could see a league club come in for him.
  10. I really struggle to get excited about an untried youngster coming in on loan. All being well he works out like Arblaster and Devine did.
  11. You’re Nathan smith keeping an eye on VFIA / Devine intervention?
  12. Said the same earlier, but someone isn’t listening, as they still think the remainder of the contract MUST be paid up in full.
  13. It is absolutely true though. The player could turn around and say I didn’t ask to leave, but you’ve agreed a fee (or he’s told he can leave for nothing because they want him out), so he asks for a percentage of his wages. It is genuine.
  14. All the talk of uche going and us having to pay his wages is a real grey area. There are many ways it could go. We could demand a fee or else he isn’t going anywhere. We could let him go for no fee if we just wanted him off the books. We could come to an agreement over his last 6 months and not pay the full amount but pay a percentage of it. He could get a signing on fee / increased wages / longer contract there and ask us if he can go for nothing. it’s not cut and dried that a player has to have his full contract paid up. It just depends how negations go between the clubs and agent.
  15. But there’s a massive difference between getting hammered by half time and still being in the game at half time, despite what we may think of what we have or haven’t created. It’s face it, if he hadn’t changed it he would have got criticised for not changing things. So it’s whatever suits the narrative isn’t it.
  16. Of course we were desperate to get back in it somehow. But without checking any stats I can’t think of another game apart from the opening match where we were so far out of it at half time.
  17. The thing is that football clubs up and down the country have seen what Uche can bring to a team and have bought him in to do a job. He isn’t making a career of it by being totally crap. The old dreaded nasty agent theory. No contract is going to say you talk to other clubs if you want to. It may have a release clause in there. Maybe other clubs have contacted us and come in for him who are looking for a striker like him? Maybe we’ve told him he can go as we’ll get a fee? Maybe he’s unhappy here and wants to leave? Maybe he hasn’t brought to the team what we thought he would and we have someone else lined up? Maybe he’s going to get more money by moving? Loads of factors come in to play and other clubs will know he only has 6 months left in his deal. I disagree. We’re losing a game that we need to get back in and what we were doing in the first half wasn’t working, he had to change it and whether we were top of the league or bottom I think he would have done the same.
  18. Plymouth had just lost a loan player who plays in midfield too who went back to his parent club and then was farmed back out to Stoke. Maybe they’ve identified Devine as his replacement.
  19. The 2 latest loans seem to indicate that we have been working in the background to identify replacements just in case they went back to their parent club. Hopefully we have someone lined up to replace Devine.
  20. Is Williams a left or right sided centre half?
  21. Agree with this and now I think l we can see where we need to strengthen. Wingback / fullback who can give us more options to change things during a game, 1 centre mid (poss 2) and someone creative like Airblaster. Be interesting to see what happens with Devine and Balmer too.
  22. It’s bad enough watching your kids playing amateur football and trying to get involved by saying stuff to fans / other parents being negative at that level. Cant imagine it’s worth having a pop at fans around you in a crowd of thousands at a professional game.
  23. If we can get someone else to play wingback yes..
  24. I think the writing was on the wall once he had his shirt number taken off him. Now he can’t even make the bench when we have a lot of injuries which clearly says that Crosby isn’t having him. Wouldnt be surprised to see him off to Cheltenham in January. It’s a shame, he’s been good for us. But equally he’s also been playing in a side doing poorly so Im not convinced he’s as pivotal to us staying up or not as people may think. He can’t do it on his own. Hes a loan who was always going to go back given factors like how Sheffield are doing, how well he’s played individually, the big injury he just suffered and how the mood has turned here too. Now we need other players to step up to the plate or we bring in someone as good in January.
