3 weeks running, 3 from outside the box. Two sendings off, the guy is a nugget of the <ovf censored> kind.

Why on earth is <Edit>sensored? Christ, what is wrong with world? I am not surprised many old time posters disappeared, bag of <ovf censored> now this site is.

  2. Can't grumble after last week. We are at the right end of the table. A nice 10 game unbeaten run will see us cement ourselves in a good position. I still think we will be in the top 3. We will learn from this, we have a good management team unlike last year with that  buffhead in charge.

This is a general response to several messages and emails received wondering if yours truly is okay consequence of a low profile on the Forum – other than the GTGS/GTC Competitions.

Back in August, 2013 I was diagnosed as having advanced dry macular degeneration in my right eye. My left eye and peripheral vision were said to be fine. Since then and up to late last year life was mostly as before – a little slower across the keyboard; slightly more focused reading the Forum.

Now, it seems, I’m losing the central focus in my left eye - but still retain strong peripheral vision.

So, why am I telling you this!?

MY Forum low profile will be more so now, but the OVF Competitions will still be run. However, and more for personal reasons, they will be fortnightly. But you will be pleased to read that the season prize pool of a minimum of £100 per game for 46 games will, instead, be divided by 23 games.

    Stay safe,

    Barry

p.s. it took a bliddy age to compose this reply. Ah well, such is life

I have only just seen Baz, sorry to hear this news. Hope you are well.

  4. If you know anyone who drinks in pubs ask around, there are plenty of IPTV options for 30 quid a year that will stream every single game in the football league. You can always make a donation to Port Vale if you feel guilty of depriving them of ticket money.

  5. iFollow and the way it is set has been crap since it started several years ago. I complained to Ifollow, the football league, and to Pot Vale and heard nothing. The sad result is that I bought a fire stick for 30 quid and pick and choose Vale games which now amounts to 3 a season at best. Totally lost interest. Hence I post here once a month or so compared to 20 years ago. I don't even buy the shirts now due to inconsistent chopping and changing year in year out. Sad times.

  6. The days of a juicy tie v Ipswich in the league cup with an electric atmosphere have gone. I doubt many Sunderland fans will give a fudge about this, and I fancy them to play a weakened team. I wreckon about 300 Sunderland fans will make it. We may just pull off a shock if we play a strong side. It's a free hit and we have nothing to lose.

Popey has been brilliant for us but will have been decently  rewarded for his efforts and he had his benefit when he went for the silly money Bury offered him.

I thought this a while ago but Covid hit, he doesn't deserve for his last appearance in a Vale shirt to be in an empty stadium. He deserves the chance to thank the fans and say goodbye.

  8. Technically it should be for ten years straight service,  but this is a rare exception. Post war record scorer, home grown player, a Vale fan, part of a promotion winning team, the list is endless. If not a testimonial then at least a ten minute cameo in a pre-season friendly. He deserves a fitting send off and a chance to say goodbye to the fans and the fans deserve to belt out 'Feed the Pope' one last time.

  9. Stockport - Rancid place

    Wrexham - See above

Notts Co - Signed up for the Premier League inauguration season, were promptly relegated and missed out, so stuff them, they can wallow a while longer

Chesterfield - Meh, not a fan

Sutton - A great non league cup team. Would be sad to lose that persona like Yeovil.

Torquay then, they have never posed any threat to Vale.

  11. Why stop here, why not have females playing in the men's game next? I have had three female referees reffing my games in the past they were crap.  One cried off when the ball hit her in the head. Had plenty of crap male refs too. Quality shines through, I hope she does well.

  12. GK Mark Grew, those two saves v Watford in the cup, outstanding. He did this regularly in the league.

Darren Hughes - Scored on loan V Brighton, while on loan Brighton, now that's commitment.

Alan Tankard - Best left back, just ahead of Hughes.

Neil Aspin - Solid, played with a bent leg v Stoke for ten minutes before admitting he may be a bit knackered. Over ten years solid service.

Dean Glover - Classy centre half, could fill in at full back or defensive midfield. Scored a few too.

Robbie Earle - Anyone who scores in the high teens from midfield is a good player. Going on to play in the World Cup and Premier League for not the greatest teams but still stand shows how good he was.

Ray Walker - Tottenham, say no more. Controlled the midfield for years.

Ian Bogie - Another great play maker and always scored the goals in big games.

Steve Guppy - Could beat anybody on the wing and put the ball on a pin.

Tony Naylor - Short, nippy and really skillful. Had flair that you expect from a creative midfielder. One of shortest strikers ever but the I would say the most skillful.

Gareth Ainsworth - Such an impact in such a short spell. When he sold sold I felt like buying a Stoke flag and waving it outside Bill Bells garage in absolute protest at such a bad decision. This led to our downfall to where we are now. We never recovered from his sale.

Edit: Not a formation, just my best players.

A similar thread was posted on here about 10-15 years ago. It feels like a pee take now that we said in jest about Steggles, Villjanen, Koordes, Gary Hamstring...all of those would walk into this squad now, even they they are in their 50's 60's.

  13. I would only keep those that could break into a squad in League 1. Worrall, Monty, Hurst maybe, Brown maybe too old and performance have started to creek a bit this season, although he set an exceptionally high standard previously.

All league games. The record improves  as you move forward - to the extent that we are four points better off than this stage last year.

    That post aged well.😁
