  1. He probably knew the writing was on the wall too, so then moved to 'full-time', so that when he got sacked - he could get a bigger pay out!
  2. Thank you @Lornelounger and the anonymous donator too for your very kind donations. 👍👍
  3. Thank you Jean for your donation - much appreciated.
  4. Who was the midfielder that played for Ipswich - never missed a game but I can't remember his name either...I think that might be who you're referring to
  5. Or is packmore Vale you Danny. If it is - then thank you to Andy N67 👍👍
  6. Thank you very much @Packmoor_vale. If Danny Clayton is on here, thank you for your donation too mate 👍👍👍
  7. Wrexham are supposedly tabling a £1.5m bid for Langstaff!
  8. Thank you Smithie for your donation, much appreciated.
  9. As I previously mentioned, Lincoln are due to post in excess of £3m losses for the year - look where they currently are in the league....4 points above us, having played 3 games more. Is that really the club you want. The owners and staff want the club to remain in league one, be competitive but at the same time, look at opportunities that we can increase the income to the club. A perfect and simple example is the kiosks - they're looking to improve that area of the business. I can't remember how many times I've given up queuing because it was taking far too long - I won't be the only one and therefore, that is a loss of revenue for the club. Like it or not, the club needs to be able to generate it's own income sustainably rather than relying on a wealthy benefactor to inject endless amounts of millions in the club. If that's what you want, go and watch Man City or any other of the 'Elite' clubs.
  10. Come of it, pal. You've been round long enough to know the campus won't happen. It's just a PR exercise. Fans go to watch exciting players. Spend the money on the first team squad and the academy, and the crowds will grow. Invest in a decent manager. We can't even finish the lorne st In order to obtain higher level players, we need investment opportunities and whilst you don't agree the screen is necessary, the club see that as an opportunity of revenue growth. The Campus is a long term vision, which you'd hope would help the club to grow. We haven't finished the concourse to the Lorne Street because we don't need to at present - we don't fill the ground and neither would we even if we splashed that £100k it would take to finish the concourse, on a 'proven league 1 goalscorer'.....which a £100K wouldn't get you. We are spending money on the academy, I think that's clear to see - given the youth that have been given a chance this season. At the beginning of the season, what was your expectations of where we'd finish in the league (in our 2nd season back in League 1)?
  11. No the fact that we had to borrow the money for a scoreboard that we don't really need and we are scrapping the money together for the toilets. I couldn't care less about the campus that'll never happen. Just a smoke screen to divert the attention away from another poor transfer window. The previous scoreboard was horrendous and didn't function as it should. Was it fundamental that we got a new screen, no - however, it was likely seen as a sponsorship opportunity to Autonet but also to Vale. Matt Hancock said in his interview a few weeks ago that they want to do the toilets but they've got plans to do a complete rebuild/remodel - it makes sense to hold fire on completing that work until the season finishes.
  12. I haven't listened to it for a little while now and then forgot all about it - so that might be one I listen to, to see out my working afternoon today. I've just had a search on spotify and it took me a little while to find it but I have now found them and it started to play the latest one which was uploaded on wednesday
  13. How do you work that one out? Just because they've stated that the market is too expensive? I'd agree with them, when you consider that Will Goodwin left Cheltenham to go to Oxford for a reported £400K fee. We're trying to become sustainable and we've only just started this model of investing in our youth, which then allows us to be sell and reinvest - we've got to allow it time to develop before we start to see that coming to fruition. Do we really want our owner having to pump in millions each year just to keep us afloat. There was a recent article about Lincoln are due to post losses of circa £3m for this season....is that the model you really want!
  14. A huge thank you to those that have donated which I assume is from OVF followers (obviously I know Rob is but I can only assume the other two are as well) - Rob F, Mart and Glenn Oliver. Thank you so much, your generosity is greatly appreciated
  15. Hi All, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour (Astrocytoma) in November 2022 on the day of my 37th birthday, the most unwelcome present I could have wished for. I had successful surgery in March 2023 and whilst I still feel the effects that this disease caused me, I'm determined to try and make a difference in this world in some small way. I therefore decided to complete the National 3 Peak Challenge to raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research. I will be doing this in May 2024 (starting with Ben Nevis on 24th May). I will be joined by 4 excellent friends (1 of which is also a Valiant and the other 3 are regrettably Stoke fans - but we'll let them off on this occasion). Whilst I refuse to be a statistic, the diagnosis and survival rate are alarming - with only 12% of those diagnosed with a brain tumour surviving beyond 5 years - as a father to two young children, this is heartbreaking and a difficult one one to take. We very rarely hear of brain tumours or fundraising for brain tumours but yet they are the biggest cancer killer and only 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been put towards brain tumours since 2002. If you'd like to read my story or kindly donate to a fellow valiant, you can do so on my just giving page below. The company I work for also match my fundraising £4£ which will be of huge benefit to. When using Justgiving, they do ask for a small donation to them for their services but this can be customised to pay as much or as little as you like - so please don't let that put you off. Gary's fundraiser for Brain Tumour Research - National 3 Peak Challenge WWW.JUSTGIVING.COM I will also share the story which was put together by Brain Tumour Research and shared with the Sentinel - just so you can see that I truly am a Valiant: Stokie dad's 'parenting headaches' turn out to be something far more sinister - Stoke-on-Trent Live WWW.STOKESENTINEL.CO.UK Thank you all for taking the time to read my story and thank you in advance if you have donated or shared my story. This post has been pre-approved by Rob F. thanks, Gary
  16. I remember Portsmouth manager doing an interview just before they played Cheltenham bemoaning their injury list, although he did state something like "I've not seen or spoken to a manager in recent months that don't have an injury crisis". So that could have played a part in some of their below par performances or results - I've no idea if that has since changed but we do need to be cautious - they're right up there for a reason.
  17. Agreed, you can't argue that we've replaced the players with the same or better quality until they've had time to gel and settle. Both Arblaster and Devine, were both unproven when they arrived at the Vale. My opinion, Devine took longer to settle than Arblaster because he came later than the Blaster did. I've no objection if we're getting loan players in, in January - as they can't return to their parent club until the season has finished (unless they pick up a long term injury obviously - then their fitness and wellbeing will be managed by the parent club). I'm looking forward to getting some signings, get them integrated and hopefully push up the table for a stress free end of the season.
  18. No one wants to know about your 2inch Osh 😆
  19. And they also knocked out Chelsea in the following round
  20. They only signed him for £20K from stoke in January 2023 too - scored 6 in 28 games for them.....and that's what £400k gets you - obscene
  21. I actually felt that is how he originally played when joining us too, that he felt he was too good to be at our club or level - what do parents expect when the kids are in a huge setup like spurs. Dropping down to clubs like ours allows them to become accustomed to toughness of mens football rather than the u12/u23 setups. He has started to shine through a little more but I think he still has more to offer. When the chips are down, that is when the character of the player should shine through to see what they're really made of.
  22. You're right the sacking doesn't really make sense given the promotion and then sitting 12th in the league. Unless the club feel that they invested in players this season and that they ought to be in a better position than they are. The comments from the club do make it sound like a possible falling out as they've been 'having on going discussions for the past few weeks'.
