  1. The costs may not prove too much if we use any saved transfer monies we didn't use in January. Also there's the transfer fees from the young lads we have sold. It's a calculated risk against the cost of relegation and I'm sure Carol is quite capable of doing the sums.
  2. I think you're being unfair to Shetland ponies, hard working, built to pull carts and plough fields, used during the industrial revolution down coal mines to pull coal trucks, and now used to help vulnerable children due to their size and pacified disposition. Whereas a race horse can only run fast or for a long distance and the only people it serves are gamblers. Back on topic, I don't know who the next manger will be and I don't much care for what their previous history is - it's what they do in the next 3 months to start with, with the squad of players available that concerns me. Where or not they have been successful previously will have absolutely no relevance to our plight, whoever gets the job will have my full backing, because they will definitely need it.
  3. If it is Darren Moore and its announced on Wednesday I guess its because if he was announced tomorrow, there would be press conferences etc which would eat into time with the players in readiness for Tuesday. This way the coaches we have now can do their pre-match work without interruption but probably in the knowledge (as I guess they and indeed the team will know) that Darren is being announced Wednesday which gives him a very interesting first game against our former manager.
  4. I'm sure a certain proportion of our fan base that post on here want relegation purely so they can come on here and pontificate just how right they were and how "nobody listened".
  5. "Doing well" is a matter of conjecture, in relation to, say Everton or Newcastle United then yes, we aren't doing well, however in relation to Tranmere or Newcastle Town we are doing well. I will openly admit that with regards this season we aren't doing as well as we would have hoped and recruitment wasn't what we hoped for in January. But you cannot force players to sign and its clear that the Uche deal to Charlton falling through almost certainly scuppered another deal going through.
  6. With friends like that who needs enemies.
  7. Yes, but did you see the defending from Stevenage for OUR 2nd goal - they just stood on the 18 yard line and allowed Funjo to shoot from 12 yards - bloody criminal if you ask me, no wonder Super-sized Steve was apoplectic at the final whistle !
  8. It seems to me that two things were evident yesterday, firstly the players were giving their all for the shirt and secondly, apart from about 20 minutes in the second half, the fans were right behind them. Whether or not the players were aware of a possible new manager watching from the stands, whether or not the 'discussions' during the week as suggested by Funjo, whether it was down to the management team having longer to prepare them than 24 hours, or whether they just 'turned up and put a shift in', whatever it was, you could see from the stands the effort and commitment. If the new manager was watching then I'm sure he would have gone away encouraged by our effort, application and resilience. I cannot understand people on here bemoaning Wilsons efforts yesterday, he had one of his better games in my view, set up the first goal, tracked back in defence, played some lovely passes here and there and everyone around me was surprised he was substituted. The two goals we conceded were poor but that's often been the case this season and last, if only we could cut them out. We also rode our luck with the two glaring misses but the players heads didn't drop and once we got ourselves back on track we certainly deserved the equaliser, it looked a penalty from our view and watching the tv replay it definitely seems the defender used his arm. I have to say that I left the ground with more belief that we can avoid the drop, yes we still look like we're susceptible at the back and we clearly need more up front but overall I thought we battled well, controlled the game for periods and rode our luck for a change. Other results didn't particularly go our way but it's still in our own hands. A SPECIAL mention for the fans, I thought in the main the crowd really got behind the team, it's a two-way thing, the crowd need something to cheer and once the players hear the crowd it spurs them on no-end. No negative chanting, no animosity, just 5000 odd fans backing their team.
  9. I wish I could perform for 60 minutes [emoji6] .....even 6 is a push.
  10. Fans that are disgruntled and have tried to get their points over verbally during games and on social media who believe they are not being listened to will now start to vote with their feet. Whether or not the club are/have listened and are acting accordingly, we should probably know early next week I guess. Finances are, it would seem at 'rock bottom' and if the bean counters at Synectics have put a stop on further loans then surely investment from elsewhere must be forthcoming. I figure fans will only start to return when they see a marked improvement on the pitch, hopefully a new broom can provide that, but I genuinely think this current crop of players need one hell of a boost to turn things around, lets hope today we can see some shoots of recovery. One thing that virtually every football fan of any club will expect as a minimum is effort and commitment, we can all accept defeat if the players have given their all - today, I want to see that from every one of them. Heart says 2-1, but I'll take a point.
  11. I've heard it on good authority that Steve loves both the Vale and Carol sooooo much he's going to manage the Vale and Stevenage on a 50/50 basis to the end of our season and guaranteed survival starting with a point tomorrow in a ultra exciting 0-0 drawfest. [emoji23][emoji6][emoji23]
  12. With a name like werstayinUP you need to ask ?
  13. How do you know I sleep naked?
  14. I'm with you bud, 1 o'clock news hopefully
  15. Darren Moore, Darren Moore Riding through the glen, Darren Moore, Darren Moore With his band of men, Steals from the Poor, Gives to the Rich............ 🤣😉
  16. His formations and starting line ups may be bizarre, but they may well have picked up more points than we have done recently 😉 As for the new manager, seems like there's one or two names most on here seem reasonably happy with and more than one or two who most would be appalled at. For me, whoever it is, we ALL need to get right behind him/her/them, 18 games will pass very very quickly and if we don't gain points soon it's going to get very nervy. Forget Flitcroft, this is a fight for our League One survival and the manager and players need our full support from day one (hopefully that's today). Any beef fans have with our DOF should be another matter, what matters most is winning football games.
  17. I'm not "down on the owners" regarding the ground, I'm sure they're doing what they can, when they can.
  18. Can anyone confirm that Dave Flitcroft was actually at Vale Park on Tuesday - maybe (just maybe) he was elsewhere scouting or indeed trying to sign a free transfer striker - who knows. And whilst I'm at it, although I agree totally that the first team must come first, the infrastucture of the stadium has to meet certain standards for league one football and therefore, however much we may think otherwise, funds have to be made available to upkeep what we all know is a crumbling gigantic wreck of a stadium.
  19. What makes you think Rudgie is so out of date ? Perhaps he is right behind Flitcroft and what he is doing, who knows ? Strange also that you ask without Garlick who's counsel does she keep, surely that's Flitcroft and if she trusts his counsel then that's up to her. Perhaps a couple of statements from our two club presidents might smooth the waters, one way or another.
  20. Why does she need to highlight the negatives, they are there for all to see and are constantly mentioned on here and other social media - I'm sure that Carol, Kevin and indeed Dave Flitcroft are fully aware of the failings, just as sure as they are fully trying to address them. It seems to me from the statement that Dave is here to stay and is a vital part of her team, ergo any attacks on him are thus attacks on Carol and Kevin. As things stand we aren't relegated yet and more importantly we still have a club to support, it's not easy at the moment but this is Port Vale, when has it ever been easy.
  21. If you care to look at the "who's who" section of the official Port Vale F.C. website it clearly states that Andy Crosby is the MANAGER of said Port Vale F.C., so what you appear to know "for certain" is, in fact incorrect - I think you need to wake up and smell the coffee 😉
