  1. Any 21st century managerial structures you could quote?
  2. Whilst I don’t believe we have the most talented bunch of players, I can’t help but think that the unrest and decision making behind the scenes has probably affected performances on the pitch. If every person in the stands knew we needed a striker and a wing back then surely every member of the playing staff did too. The lack of decent signings can only show a lack of ambition and as such must affect the players. I strongly suspect that everyone within the club thought Flitcroft was a <ovf censored> apart from Carol. If Ojo was capable of pelting up almost the whole length of the pitch to score at Charlton, he can do it again on Saturday. There are other players who have been under performing and need to play with belief and desire. Whilst Carol’s image has been slightly tarnished, I do believe she can take us to better places although goodwill tend to have a shelf life.
  3. He’s 80. Get real.
  4. I think this sums up where we are at. I think Flitcroft has been rather shrewd and cunning with regard to his relationships with the club officials and with Carol in particular. During his tenure it would appear that all personnel who were close to Carol were forced to fall on their sword at some point or other. I think Flitcroft wanted to be the sole conduit between Carol and the rest of the club, Garlick went, Speed went, not to mention two managers. I suspect that according to Flitcroft all failings associated with the club are the fault of everyone else and not him. Fortunately he wasn’t fooling us, I bet if he had the chance he would try to convince Carol to sack the fans. He should definitely have been sacked on February 1st.
  5. Seems like people have really devoted a lot of time and effort to the apathy thread.
  6. You’re picking the team Saturday
  7. I’m reaching a point whereby I’m thinking that there is no one person in an official capacity at the club whose judgement I trust. (I don’t include John Rudge as his position is honorary) I am at a loss as to what Carol and Flitcroft thought would happen when we didn’t get our ESSENTIAL January targets? Did they think we would just magic results? Did they think that the players we had already got would suddenly turn into world beaters? I liken Moore’s position to a top chef being presented with bacon, ice cream, custard powder, garlic, cottage cheese, bread crumbs, peanut butter, luncheon meat, beef jerky, a lemon, a tin of Andrews Liver Salts and a kumquat, and then being told to make a proper dinner. I would question Moore’s judgement for thinking he could actually do something with what is in effect a strikerless team and a sieve like defence. If somebody thinks they can make anything palatable with the ingredients listed then can I suggest you give Mrs Shanahan a call.
  8. Other than getting a fee for Bent, I can’t remember him doing much for Vale, likewise Peter Beadle doesn’t really stick in the memory especially seeing as he was a striker. Rudge was a good manager in an era that suited both him and the chairman, there was far more wheeling and dealing for clubs back then, I suspect Belly made a reasonable amount of money off the back of some of those transfer fees we received. Unfortunately nostalgia doesn’t change where we are today. I do have some sympathy for our chairwoman, we bemoan a lack of communication from the club but then when she does speak it gets analysed and derided to the point of ridicule. I disagree with one or two decisions she has made however there is nothing to suggest that she is out to fleece the club. If only she could see that by keeping Flitcroft in post, is like allowing a pantomime baddie to remain on stage way beyond their welcome. It will 100,000,000% end in tears. Whether she likes it or not, eventually the fans will get what they want, it really depends on how much suffering she would want to witness our DOF endure. I’ve said it before, this is going to get really messy.
  9. I'd love to see your evidence to counter act my argument. At Least he got the players in. Carol out. There’s no argument you rose tinted buffoon. This is the man who threatened to bankrupt the club I love. Have you no memory? Can’t you remember him saying he would bankrupt the club, destroy Port Vale. There’s a massive difference between a woeful season and having no club. That man was the dirtiest, greediest, most disingenuous person ever to turn left up Hamil Road. Are you for real?……..counteract your argument my arse.
  10. No it wasn’t, I’d love to see your evidence for such a stupid claim.
  11. It’s a fact, that those who know best for a football club, are the fans. The fans spot the rot, spot ego trips, spot the greed, the shysters, the benevolent, the altruists, the naive and the deluded. Carol is certainly benevolent, possibly an egotist and definitely deluded. An old cliche states, “if you love somebody, set them free”, It would appear that Carol has a genuine love for Flitcroft, if this love is genuine (I’m not talking romance or owt daft) then she needs to understand the maelstrom heading his way. We the fans, know what the root cause of this dire situation is, unfortunately our chairwoman is not properly aligned to our thought process. I’m not so sure that Mrs Shanahan realises what she is about to put Mr Flitcroft through. I fear it’s about to get very messy, ”SET HIM FREE”!
  12. There is probably validity in what you say but at the moment this team needs our support. As a Vale fan, I have to try and encourage the team to win, to do their best and try to achieve what some people believe is the impossible. The Flitcroft situation is frustrating but to me not as compelling as maintaining our L1 status. I ask myself where are my efforts best served, ousting Flitcroft or supporting the team? There were no shirkers that I could see on the pitch last night so as long as the players give 100%, from now until the end of the season, regardless of their ability levels, then the least I can do as a fan is match that.
  13. I haven’t got a problem with it personally. I’ve got insurance to cover if my house gets burgled, it doesn’t mean I want it to happen. I think we should always bet with our heads not our hearts.
  14. You might be right Conrad but it could be the start of a bit of something. I think we all know the limitations of this squad but we are not beyond stringing a few results together. You never know, what have we got to lose by throwing a bit of hope, belief and support in their direction.
  15. Well, Vali i ant, I reckon Ken Beamish might chip in with a couple, obviously Jeff Hemmerman and without doubt Adrian Littlejohn. I reckon they were all unlucky not to score tonight. It stands to reason with Trevor Dance in goal, we’ll always have a chance. Did you see them tonight? Did you actually watch the match? Or did you just decide to lambast from afar? I’ve heard of the saying “Happy Clapper” but you are most definitely a “Happy Crapper”, sh177ing over all grains of hope.
  16. Of course they are playing for something, they are 5 points off the play offs. You are one negative drain. I’m happy to report that all the virtue signallers are feeling some hope from tonight, all 200 odd down in London, all those watching on ifollow, those listening to the radio and anyone else who believes for their team. I think you might just be short of a cuddle or two. Good things can happen to you too, honest.
  17. The negativity is absolutely disgusting. We might be having a poor season but I think it’s only fair to have a reset before each game. Darren Moore has a hell of a job on his hands and he has inherited a team low on confidence. How can any one be a true fan by writing us off before kick off. ? My idea of what being a Vale fan is, seems to differ to a lot of maudlin, defeatist numbskulls who think it is a good idea to write us off before we have kicked a ball this evening. Sad.
  18. From my point of view my reaction was to the statement issued by the club, it was a good while before we established on this forum who had actually attended from the fan’s side. The statement from the club didn’t actually state what questions were asked and how they were answered whilst it did acknowledge frank dialogue. Up until it was confirmed by certain regular and respected contributors to this site I suspected a bit of a sham, a charm offensive by the club, if you will. Surely you can appreciate that there is a certain amount of sugar coating and ambiguity emanating from that club statement? Whilst I now know real dedicated, honest and forthright fan’s were in attendance I can calm down and can only hope some good will come of it, especially as folks gave up their valuable time to be there. Whilst I have on rare occasions questioned the judgement of our chairwoman, she has my total support and gratitude with regards to her ownership of our sacred club.
  19. I have used the “belly tickled” metaphor in response to the official statement from the club and I wholeheartedly stand by that sentiment. Now, if you were in attendance and can offer a different opinion of how the meeting panned out then I totally respect that and view it as a more holistic picture of events. How this was initially interpreted by me was something akin to when I when I was a kid and being told, “you stay in the car with this bottle of coke and a bag of salt n shake whilst the rest of us go in the Bleeding Wolf”. I think your post delivers a bit of reality to the situation.
  20. I would suggest that real supporters tend to have a cross section of views and opinion, call me cynical if you will but I would dearly love to know what was put in the tea at that meeting that has convinced everyone to sing off the same song sheet. I am not a negative poster, most of my efforts on here have been positive and supportive of the club and the owners, some may even call me a happy clapper but I have a problem with being stroked. I’ll shout and support the team, never boo a player but I sense some condescension here.
  21. All fans are equal but some are more equal than others.
  22. I certainly am not jealous, just curious, if you are a person who questions and seeks evidence then I would suggest there are several unanswered questions. An imbecile could probably predict what was discussed at this so called meeting, what I am more concerned with is what was the result of the discussions, what conclusions were drawn by the fans present? If everyone present at that meeting now agrees and concurs with the official statement then with that power of persuasion then they may as well broadcast the meeting over the tannoy on Saturday so we can all jump aboard. Things just get stranger and stranger at Vale Park. I have been appreciative of the Shanahan’s support and ownership up until late however something tells me I’m having my belly stroked.
