The John Rudge Fundraising Launch Event will take place tomorrow (Monday 4th April) at Vale Park in the Valiant Suite (7:30pm start).
All Vale fans are invited to the launch event, where the sculptor will reveal the clay head which will serve as the basis for part of the statue, as well as a chance to see initial sketches and concept art for the statue. There will be a Q&A with Rudgie and the sculptor Mike Talbot, who also sculpted the Sproson Statue which is now based outside the Lorne Street Stand. Tom Conlon will be there on the evening and we are hoping for some former players to be there too.
The fundraising campaign is being led by a group of Vale fans (as part of the Official Supporters Club) who want to recognise the legend that is John Rudge, in particular for his time as Port Vale manager. The aim is for the group (part of the Official Supporters Club) to raise enough funds in time for it to be complete and revealed by Rudgie's 80th birthday in October 2024.
Supporters Club Chair Mark Porter will speak at tomorrow's event about the progress so far, and fundraising plans for the next few years. There will be a chance to donate to the fund tomorrow as well as hear about some of the fundraising initiatives coming up. See you there! 🙂
