  1. That was a superbly-written post BHF!!!
  2. And - the air is much less toxic in here!
  3. I've only just got round to catching up with the Happy Clappers - I was still in Finland, then!!! But, I'll take a pint anytime - in 2 glasses, obviously...I'm a glass half full chap!
  4. There is a limit to how much Vale can spend on the playing squad. Anything more than that can be spent wherever is felt necessary? R=The bogs issue has already bee mentioned and a rebuild seems much more logical than a patch up, followed by a rebuild?
  5. Why are you (and a few others) so obsessed with our backroom setup? There will be few clubs operating old school, and it doesn't affect the playing budget? But it will likely be a long-term project before the various strands start to earn money for the club? And it may be our club, in our hearts, but it's the Shanahan's money keeping it going!
  6. That might explain things! Is his name Osbourne??
  7. I don't think He supports us? He's more a Man City fan?
  8. Sorry - but ALL the above was opinion, not fact!
  9. None so short-sighted as those who wear blinkers!
  10. Apologies for the stats - I genuinely took them off one website, but can't find which one, now!!! Already had my hands rapped for that one!
  11. As usual, Yappy, you missed the point! I said I wouldn't question someone's ability and professionalism unless I knew them well enough to do so. You don't share that ethic. That's up to you!
  12. Thanks Doha...I guess I looked at the wrong stats?
  13. I don't think he exhibits the tendencies of a narcissist? The guy who burned down my studio, then wondered why nobody wanted him to help clearing up - he was a narcissist!!!!!! By previous - do you mean Bury?? "He was appointed as Bury manager the following month and quickly found success, being named as Manager of the Month for February 2014. He led the club to promotion out of League Two at the end of the 2014–15 season and kept the club in League One the following season. Despite being named as Manager of the Month for September 2016, he was sacked two months later following a poor run of form" (Wiki)
  14. I like the things you've done in the past - and Smurftwat got most of us fooled, at the start. And it's not nice getting dog's abuse for expressing your opinion. I find it difficult to draw assumptions about a person, based on no time spent with him - so many of my first impressions have turned out to be false. So, I can't agree with you on that. As for getting angry if we go down again - I will be disappointed and hurt...but I have been before. I still wear those t-shirts! As fir free agents - we may have been looking, but the consensus is that they wouldn't be up to match fitness in time to make a difference...so that's no real surprise! DF isn't in a very enviable position - if he has m ade mistakes, he will get your dog's abuse...but worse! But - what if he hasn't made mistakes, and has done what he could? Whatever he says will be throwing somebody else under the bus...probably Carol...unless he doesn't explain fully, in which case people will see through that. As I say - difficult. I wouldn't like to be him, at the moment. Thanks for keeping your comments civil!
  15. Ok...tell me exactly what's happened? Event by event? Or are you making assumptions...conjecture? And don't go missing bits out, like "we've had 3 bad windows" - WHY have we? Who did we miss out on, and why? Was he working within financial constraints set by Carol? Give me the actual facts, man...not just conjecture and assumption - because - if you don't know the full facts, that's all you have!
  16. I partially agree - except, until coming up to Christmas, and Ollie and Alfie got recalled, most were saying how good we looked! Theo Robinson coming back...again...would have actually caused riots! Loft...aged 26, btw. has been basically a 1 in 4 goalscorer, except for Bristol Rovers where he was 1 in 3. So, oin the face of it, a reasonable target? I agree with Ojo - he has admitted to being upset when Andy Crosby got the sack...maybe he has downed tools? A defence that keeps having individuals making silly mistakes that can't be coached out! A mistake is a mistake - we all make them! Martin Paterson!!!
  17. So it seems! And you should know - you are a tripemaster!
  18. Wow...that IS an expectation! If Carol decides she needs him at the club, it will be in this role, She's not likely to demote him, I don't think? But, I do see where you're coming from - I just don't like to question professional people's abilities unless I know them, personally, and work with them, and I don't form ideas about them based on rumours, conjecture or the obvious loathing and pre-conceptions some fans have for DF, particularly, and the role of DoF, which they think doesn't belong in a League 1 club!
  19. I agree to an extent...the transfer kitty isn't affected by money spent on community engagement, it's a proportion of the club's income and can't exceed that figure. But there are other reasons for attendances dropping - with the postponements, we are getting too many games too close together...and when they are home games it's a big ask for fans to support Vale every game. I guess, even worse for away games with the cost of travel thrown in? And, yes - I'm aware that fans vote with their feet if the product on the pitch isn't great. But Vale have always had a core following that doesn't seem to dip? Without knowing the actual events, I'd hesitate to question the ability or attitude of a professional businessman? I can't see the reason behind DF deliberately leaving us short - what's his motive? But, we don't know how many times players and / or clubs have let us down / changed their minds at the last minute? Or their own targets have fallen through? I know people have said "just get anybody in, FFS - we need bodies!" But - what would have been the reaction if one of those bodies had been Theo Robinson???
  20. Absolutely right, BB!!! And look at the scale of some of the debts racked up over the decades - QPR...£170 million +, I believe? Wigan / Bolton not far away from that? Ludicrous...insanity!
  21. He does...but, he had a few more years than the Shanahans have had! Some of our fans have unreasonable expectations, and expect things to happen overnight?
  22. Thanks...Ki think...but I'd argue that if a football club doesn't interact with its community, its community doesn't support it? Where do the mascots come from? Who pays for VIP experiences, bringing money into the club? Id we ignore the local schools, we lose a generation of supporters. Would the community have attended the markets we've held...or the open days? Or the gigs and sportsmen dinners? Like it, or not, these are all examples of community engagement, and help to attract new supporters...otherwise, would any clubs bother doing them? Increased attendances offer the chance to spend more money on the team. It is a balancing act...but ignoring the community interaction is ill-advised.
  23. Our owners have also been hampered, due to the lack of investment on the stadium in previous years. Attendances have been less than we expected because the terraces / stands didn't meet H & S standards, so had to operate at lower capacity, consistently reducing the gates and takings!. Fortunately, due to FFP, money spent on ground improvements took nothing away from the team - unlike in Bell's days!
