I am not sure what year it was, I remember though travelling down to your place for a match where we needed something to have any chance of avoiding relegation. A defeat though and that was that.

We brought a decent following in the circumstances, about 1,500 I think and got beat 5 - 1. Relegated!.

I am sure some of you will remember this.

Yeah I remember that. I'm sure I remember one of your lot setting something on fire in The Vine as well.

  2. First player I'd be looking at would be Fankaty Dabo. Exactly what we need in a quick RB/RWB. Did brilliant at Coventry but missed the penalty to get them into the Prem. Was released and signed by FGR and was basically bullied by Troy Deeney. Obviously that penalty miss got to him but a very good player if we could get his head right.

I have no inside knowledge what so ever but i still fully expect Carol will want to give it a go next season even if that means breaking the wage structure at the club like we need to do to attract decent strikers for starters

A wage structure is a hindrance especially when it comes to strikers.

2 players who can't score goals on 2.5k a week each or one that can score goals on 5k. I know which I'd prefer.

Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere on OVF, but it is worthy of note.

Very well done to Carol and to everyone at the club who has made this a reality.

EFL Community Project of the Season - 2024

In League One, Port Vale is recognised for the Club’s Community Cupboard and Lounge initiative, which has supported over 6,000 people in the last 12 months with cost-of-living challenges.

Who needs to win games of football when you've got this. Relegation smellagation.

  5. Seen absolutely nothing yet to make me think Moore can get us straight back up. Second game in a row makes no attempt at all to positively impact the game. Waited until we went 2-1 down in the 86th minute to bring on a centre back. Nothing has changed for the better in the football, nothing has changed for the better in our formations, nothing has changed for the better in our style of play.

    But...

These players are absolutely <ovf censored>. He's won promotions before and I suppose we need to see what he can do with his own squad in Division 4. We really can't afford to hang around like we did with Crosby this season if it's obviously not going well though.

What should he have done? I agree that we could all see it coming, just not sure what I would have done to stop it given the subs on the bench.

They got wide players on and absolutely murdered us with simple balls into the channel. Go two banks of 4 and cut out the space. We made no attempt to attack in the second half. So at least make an attempt to defend the lead, rather than jogging around and looking like they haven't got a clue what to do.

Threw away a two goal lead against an average side... Twice in two home games!

    You're easily pleased!

And sat there and did nothing to counter it, when you could see from the 46th minute what was going to happen.

Ye mate you just explained what a solid league 2 squad is. A league 1 squad in league 2. Garrity ojo chiz I think will be gone next season.

Maybe our definitions of solid are different? A solid League 2 squad to me is someone like Barrow or Gillingham. Whereas a good one is Mansfield or Stockport. We need the latter or we're just building on League 2 sand again.

If we go down we should build a solid league 2 side as a foundation for when we are prompted to league 1.

If you disagree with that just because it's me saying it your mad.

We've seen in the last two years what happens when you build a solid League 2 team in preparation for League 1...

We have wasted millions on <ovf censored>. If we are going to continue to spend that kind of money, then we need to do a Stockport, Wrexham and Mansfield and spend the money on a very good League 2 squad with League 1 quality players as well. We already have some League 1 quality players in Garrity, Chizzy, Ojo. These need to be built around with the best League 2 player we can afford. The big spenders have all gone up. We should be close to the top of the pile on what we can spend on wages. We also need to spend the going rate on goalscorers. We've spent the money this year on Loft and Uche that would have got us a proper recognised striker.

If Carol is going to fix hers and Flitcrofts mistakes then we need to do it properly. Players who have been there and done it, played in their specialist position. Not spending the same amount of money on players that can play 3 positions but are <ovf censored> in every one of them.

    Hello all!

Just a bit of help please.

My son is a big Vale fan, and Peterborough away will be his first live game.

He’s been learning as many chants as he can, but he finds the “Shoes off if you hate the Stoke” chant is his favourite.

Can the fans who are going to the game start that chant through the game to really give him an everlasting memory of the Vale.

    Thank you! 👟

    🤍🖤

Don't forget your turnip. Everyone has to put one on their head and stick a finger up their arse when the opposition score. Massive Vale away game tradition.

He's completed the 90 minutes 5 times this season.

While I agree Willo has got an appalling injury record, I don't know why people keep using the '90 minutes' argument to beat him with. With the introduction of 5 substitutes, not many attackers play 90 mins anymore, as managers like to keep the energy high in those areas. How many 90 mins as a player like Chizzy completed? I'd genuinely be surprised if it's more than 10.
