  1. Tremendous fight between two of the best Welterweights in the world. Pre-fight I was uncertain whether Kell Brook's strength or Errol Spence's speed and power would win out, we know now. If I was Kell I'd now go for a money fight with Amir Khan and for Errol a tasty, phenomenal bout with Keith Thurman. Magnificent effort by both boxers.
  2. Errol Spence is also a tremendous boxer (21-0, 18KO's), too close to call for me.
  3. Canelo Alvarez defeated Julio Chavez Jr, son of the Mexical legend, last night on points, 12 rounds to 0. Reported that Canelo will now fight Gennady Golovkin on Sept 16th at a venue tbd, doesn't get much better than this. I have tremendous respect and admiration for both boxers, don't wish to see either of them lose but GGG will edge it although GGG will have to be wary of Canelo's uppercut..
  4. I'd go the other way, 95/5 in favor of Joshua. Saw lst night AJ can take a punch, get up and come back to win and I doubt Fury could cope with AJ's power. It's a long road back for Fury. Klitschko was brilliant last night and would probably have beaten most current heavyweight. He bated AJ with his jab just waiting to set up AJ with his signature 1-2 combination which he did in the 6th after AJ thought it was all over in the 5th. Where Joshua got his second wind from I do not know but we won't see many better uppercuts than the one in the 11th roound and for me AJ finished him off perfectly with head and body shots without exposing himself to a sucker punch. Bring on Deontay Wilder or Luis Ortiz.
  5. AJ would be charged with "murder" if he fought Fury.
  6. Sport doesn't get any better than that. An incredible performance by Joshua, a fantastic effort by Klitshko, the best Heavyweight fight I've witnessed "live". I thought Joshua was done in the 6th round, to come back and win in that fashion was amazing.
  7. Anthony Joshua vs Vladamir Klitchko in front of 90k fans at Wembley tonight, wish I could be there but will have to settle for the tv. Gonna be very interesting fight but whoever lands the first bid bomb and persuades the other boxer to keep his hands at home will win. If Klitchko doesn't up his game 10 fold from when he fought Fury he won't last the first round althogh he looked in great condition at the weigh in. I'll be rooting for Joshua.
  8. Not on tv over here but will look for it on Youtube. Talk of Lomachenko vs Terry Flanagan or Mikey Garcia in the future.
  9. The master boxer Vasyl Lomachenko defends his WBO Junior Lightweight title on Saturday against Jason Sosa. What a great weekend of sport coming up, the boxing, the Vale, The Masters, Grand National, nothing done in our house Thurs-Sun......as usual.
  10. Watches Crolla/Linares II, brave, gutsy performance by Crolla but he just hadn't got the punching power to make Linares keep his fists at home, some brutal uppercuts by Linares and the right decision IMO. Mikey Garcia vs Linares will be worth watching, Garcia is one heck of a puncher who can also box.
  11. Missed the first one, have taped it and watch it when I get home
  12. I hadn't heard about Michael Conlan 'til someone mentioned his win, isn't he supposed to be the next Irish sensation. I haven't taken much interest in Mayweather/Mcgregor as it seems a bit of a circus.
  13. I thought they were both really cagey, rumor has it that Jacobs rehydrated up to over 180lbs hence one reason for Golovkin's cautious approach. Jacobs looks a different fighter compared to when he lost to Pirog, his chin defo seems much stronger. However, as the challenger he needed to do a bit more, he was too defensive and didn't let his hands go enough. Still talk of GGG vs Alvarez or GGG vs Saunders, whether either comes off is anyone's guess but Jacobs showed that GGG isn't invincible. Yes, Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, considered by many to be the best pound for pound boxer right now, suffered his first loss in 46 fights. You missed an absolute stunner (it'll be on Toutube sometime), his oppenent, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, is known to be a heavy puncher and he put Chocolatito down in the first round then caused a bad cut on Chocolatito with a headbutt in the 2nd, it was then a toe to toe slugfest. How the "Thai guy" stayed on his feet I'll never know but he was given a majority decision.
  14. IMHO it was the right decision, Compubox showed GGG landed more punches and he certainly landed the harder ones, tremendous galant performance by Jacobs. I thought the shocking decision of the night was Chocolatito's loss to the "Thai guy" (can't remember his name).
  15. David Lemieux produced a devastating one punch KO of Curtis Stevens last night in round 3, Stevens was out before he hit the canvas. I believe he's OK but it was a serious reminder of how brutal boxing can be. Lemieux wants Billy Joe Saunders next, if I was Saunders (or Eubank Jr) I'd go for Golovkin and make some money before I went anywhere near Lemieux, this guy can punch.
  16. IMHO, Khan has an over bloated view of his worth and ability, great boxer and hand speed but little use when your chin is made of wafer thin glass. TV stations only show him 'cause he's often in a dramatic KO fight, problem is when he meets an elite boxer it's him that's KO'd and he certainly will be KO'd if he fights Thurman.
  17. The 38m didn't materialize, I'd have fought both at the same time for half that purse!! Best fight for khan would be with Kell Brook and if Brook fails to beat Errol Spence then Khan vs Brook would be a win win for both. Another tremendous GGG/Jacobs preview, I can't wait either, can't see it going to the scorecards and hope it doesn't go there. The look on the face of Curtis Stevens (ca 14 40) is an iconic moment in boxing. I can see GGG using the same strategy as when he fought David Lemieux and not the gung ho style he adopted vs Kell Brook. Jacobs has been KO'd and also knocked down before, GGG will stop him. Chocolatito on the undercard. Interestingly, David Lemieux fights Curtis Stevens in New York on Saturday evening.
  18. HBO 24/7 promo for GGG vs Jacobs fught, great viewing for a boxing fan.
  19. Because it was on at approx 4am U.Kk time, it will be the same with the ggg fight and to make it more complicated the ggg fight is ppv over here. Still worth trying to watch it if poss.
  20. David Haye vs Tony Bellew was a money making fight and it showed (still enjoyable though), it was not a fight between two elite boxers in their prime for a world title, that was Thurman vs Garcia. Anyone wanting to see an upcoming fight between two elite boxers in their prime then tune into Gennady Golovkin vs Daniel Jacobs on March 18th, for boxing fans it will be a cracker.
  21. Keith Thurman beat Danny Garcia via split decision at 147lbs tonight, he just did a bit more. Danny Garcia has spent most of his boxing life at 140lbs, his power doesn't look like it's as effective at 147lbs although Thurman is very elusive and hard to hit with a clean shot. No doubt Danny Garcia has a cast iron chin.
  22. Deontay Wilder beat Gerald Washington last saturday evening, Wilder looked lethargic and was behind on the cards but a tremendous right hand made the judges surplus to requirements. Looks like Manny Pacquiao will fight Amir Khan in the USA on May 19th. Risky fight for Pacquiao as he has everything to lose against Khan who's a bigger guy with fast hands and a great technique. I reckon Manny will have to KO Khan to win which he could well do.
  23. The two other undefeated Welterweight Champions, Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia, meet in Brooklyn on March 4th. Intriguing fight with Thurman being the better boxer who also posseses a big dig in both hands but Garcia can't written off as he has a devastating left hook which Amir Khan and others have found to their cost. Danny Garcia comes across as a balanced, sensible person but his father, Angel Garcia, is a crazy, crazy man who has already provoked a slanging match with Thurman at a recent press conference.
  24. Adrien Broner, once tipped to be the next Floyd Mayweather 'til he got too cocky and got beat by Marcus Maidana, fights Adrian Granados at 147lbs in Cincin on Saturday. Broner made his name and won his titles at 130-135lbs and hasn't done too well at 140 or above, going to be a close fight. Looks like another tremendous fight in the UK on May 27th, negotiations are said to be almost complete for Kell Brook to fight Errol Spence at 147ibs in Sheffield for Brook's IBF belt. Spence (21-0, 18 KO's) is fast, can box and punch and must think he can win inside the distance to go to Sheffield. Brook is big and strong at 147, big risk for Spence.
  25. Watched the Eubank Jr vs Renold Quinlan fight on Youtube and Quinlan didn't have much to offer other than his bravery. Eubank Jr looks a very strong guy but looks a bit ponderous in the ring and leaves himself wide open when he throws a punch. World Class fighters at his weight like Golovkin, Canelo, Badou Jack and Gegale would likely exploit this defensive weakness and it's a game changer when hit by one of those guys.
