  1. What will placate you so you'll shut up about the Shanahan family?
  2. Surely there's a question mark over Wycombe's winning goal. Cone who receives the ball direct from their goal keeper's kick may not have been offside but there was a Wycombe player who was coming back from an offside position in the center of the field/on the same line as Cone who was active in the play and was surely yards behind/beyond Vale's last defender and hence should have been given offside. I realize it's usual for the officials not to blow for offside 'til the player touches the ball but their player who was running back from Vale's goal had to be a mile offside and active in the play when their keeper kicked the ball. I haven't checked the rules on this but I guess the motto is play to the whistle.
  3. Yep there is a risk of a downward spiral but by the end of November after Moore has bought in "His" players and shaped "His" squad if Vale are in the bottom half of Lge 2 or in the bottom 6 of Lge 1 then his time should be up. I hope the "Pay ceiling" that was reported to be in place during the promo season has been well and truly discarded as Vale have to pay what it takes to obtain a striker or two who can score at least 10 goals a season else we're just not gonna win enough games to challenge in the top half of any table.
  4. I for one was pleased when we signed Weir on loan, principally because he'd already had a season in Lge 1 and scored 10 goals. He started the abandoned game against Reading and looked really good for the brief time the game lasted but since then he's been average at best. It's a mystery to me why he's not done well and prospered at Vale as there's a player in there and he's been given every chance. It must be down to chemistry and style of play.
  5. Crosby wouldn't have kept us up and Moore won't either. Puccini couldn't get a tune out of this squad, it's so unbalanced, has no leaders and so many players are not good enough technically for this level, however it's not DM's squad. The Exeter and Wycombe games clearly demonstrated the deficiencies. DM is not going anywhere so the funds have to be provided so he can identify and recruit the necessary players to put an end to this footballing downward spiral or else the real unthinkable will happen.
  6. The table doesn't lie after 44 games. All over bar the shouting.
  7. That half just confirms the recruitment has been poor and Vale are not good enough.
  8. I lived in Nottingham at the time of the Hillsborough disaster and remember going out for a Ruby on the Saturday evening with my wife and a number of Forest fans. We were all so shocked at the events of that day and found it hard to come to terms with the scale of loss of life at a game of football.
  9. I was at that game OS, went by train which was probably far more dangerous than hitchhiking. At the end of the game the Wrexham fans were stood on a bridge over the train tracks throwing stones down at the Vale fans walking/running from the station buildings onto the waiting train. The bricks were ricocheting off the platform, station buildings and train, it was scary. Yep it got crammed in the section of the ground behind one of the goals I was in. At the time it was customary for Vale fans to try and "take over" the home end and push the home fans to the side, there was no segregation or control just a mad house.
  10. I support "The Shanahans" for the reasons you outline. Also, to my knowledge they've so far not made any decisions that were knowingly not in the best interests of the club. "Actions speak louder than words" and Carol has started to take action to hopefully fix and improve the football side of things with the sacking of Flitcroft, although not quick enough for some fans. I'm all for communication but the club has to be careful as if the words don't match the outcomes then it just provides another stick to beat PVFC with. As for this season the club haven't been relegated yet so there's time for a "Lessons Learned Review". Vale are in a mess but IMHO it would be a vastly much bigger mess if The Shanahans' put the club up for sale at this moment in time.
  11. ST, What do you mean by the above phrase? Are you advocating that Carol should resign?
  12. JRC, Similar perhaps but that was the worst. Your point about "issue between managers and players" is an interesting one but I hope it's not that as it's only the start of Moore's tenure. Prior to the Peterborough defeat and yesterday's debacle I was of the opinion that Moore had got the Vale more organized and more difficult to beat but the problem still to solve was how to score enough goals to win enough games to stay up. We all know the saying that 2-0 is the worst lead in football and Vale came out yesterday for the second half looking and playing scared, when the 1st goal went in they looked even more scared, became jelly-legged and to a man all confidence had blown away. Not one player stood up to lead, demanded the ball, lead by example or produced a crunching tackle to try and reverse the downward spiral. Then the subs were made, Uche looked disappointed to be taken off, he still looked to have something left to give and may have provided some inspiration, set an example and arrested the decline had he stayed on. If he's taken off replace him with Loft who put's himself about and may do similar etc etc. The reasons for yesterday's capitulation are likely the team doesn't have enough leaders, confidence is fragile, insufficient experience on the bench and poor substitutions. I won't give up hope 'til Vale are mathematically down but I doubt there is any coming back from this. What is a safe lead for this PVFC squad, if 2-0 up at home with 45 mins to go isn't safe then what is?
  13. I'm off to watch the golf......be back Tuesday. 😭
  14. In 62 years of watching the Vale I've never seen a Vale team capitulate like that, no leaders on the field, no one wanted to take responsibility or charge of the ball, WTF. Why does a team 2-0 up come out for the 2nd half and sit back and stroll around rather than press high up the field with intensity and effort, damn disgusting. I'm gobsmacked and gutted.
  15. Just what the doctor ordered. Concentrate, no silly mistakes and we will win.
  16. 593 I can't remember the details of the letter but remember seeing video of Carol give an emotional speech after a game and in hindsight the emotion may have been due to her realizing that DF's position had become untenable.
  17. I guess you'll have to move NW9 but if it's to the USA check out the location as the cost of your town property tax (Equiv of rates in the UK) will likely go through the roof!!!!
  18. Yep I agree, iFollow has become very reliable this last few seasons with the only hiccups being the occasional audio blip. It's come along way from the first few years when the sound and video often weren't synchronized, the video used to cut out/freeze for long periods and sometimes it was touch and go if video could be accessed at all. No score was shown on the screen so if you went to the loo and a team scored you didn't know etc. Admin - Apols for the above double post, delete one if possible, OVF didn't appear to take the original submission so I tried again.
  19. Looks looks International Audiences will carry on as usual and not be affected by any changes. Thank heaven for that, iFollow has been a lifeline to the Vale for me. CHANGES TO CURRENT WAYS OF WATCHING - Will matches still be available to watch via iFollow, or Clubs’ alternative streaming services? From the 2024/25 season onward, this new deal with Sky Sports will effectively replace the EFL’s domestic video streaming option provided via iFollow and club streaming services - Audio services will remain alongside existing audio-visual arrangements for international audiences. https://www.efl.com/news/2023/may/efl-and-sky-sports-broadcast-rights-agreement/
  20. Just look at the improvement in virtually everything PVFC from the day the Shanahans took over to now. Just for the record Carol says around 6 mins 30 secs, "First and foremost it's a football club and success on the pitch is what it's all about", so her main focus is clear although events on the pitch this season haven't gone to plan. Exactly why recruitment has been so poor resulting in the current predicament in Lge 1 will likely never be known, If we go down it can/will be rectified.
  21. It's the record against the teams around us that is embarrassing.
  22. That Peterborough team have the best collection of attacking players in Lge 1, same as last season. If they don't get auto promo I doubt they'll go through via the play-offs as a better team than Vale will exploit the space they leave when attacking, they're like a "group of flat track bullies".
  23. Looked like he kicked something out of sheer frustration.
