Everyone who looked at the official site before the ovf thread that is...

But the OVF thread starts with the same statement as the official site. It was no doubt put on here so that folk who couldn’t find the official site would know what had happened. It’s www.port-vale.co.uk for future reference Zebra.

Perhaps it would have caused less fuss if the people having the private meeting at their own request didn't start a thread on a message board about it if they didn't want everyone else to know what went on.

There was already a statement on the official site so everyone knew there had a been a meeting

If you read my last post I don’t have the time or inclination to go to VP and sit down with ppl who I don’t believe anything that they say. In relation to my residence, I do spend a lot of time outside the UK and that is relevant because.? Last week you sent me a PM asking if you should know me. I told you that I just post on here.

So you ask hundreds of questions here about the meeting but don’t have the inclination to go and ask face to face?  And you don’t go to games to give your support but seem desperate to hear gossip from people who do?  Is the sun in the Canaries getting to you?!

Jacko, thank you for your reply. So are you going to enlighten all the fans that weren’t invited to this clandestine meeting, what was discussed. In relation to improving match day experience what about entertaining on the pitch, by playing a style of football that gives the impression that the players want to play for the club. If you tell me that they are phenomenal then we’ve signed some dross. Which I hasten to add the fans know. During the meeting, what was actually discussed, it comes over as gloating that you were invited to attend such a meeting. This is how you divide a fan base. So please tell us what was discussed and why you feel so positive about the meeting.
From a basic point of view, was the shoddy treatment of fans in the RP discussed, concerning the toilets.? Whilst I’m sure the groups that you mentioned are good ppl with the clubs best interest at heart and that they do lots of good work that others like myself don’t know about. You didn’t mention Colin Garlick in his role by helping to get rid of NS and look how that turned out for him. The only person to get rid of NS was Carol by purchasing the club for a sum that he was happy to accept.

Yes to all your questions.  And just to clarify yet again for the umpteenth time. The club DID NOT invite us, we asked them. And they didn’t know until the afternoon of the meeting who was attending. And you have no idea the part played by members of B&G in explaining to Carol at the Cheltenham game in 2019 what Norman was doing and why they need her help. You have no idea of the amount of digging about Norman which went on and which got him quite worried.

How many Vale games to you get to?  You said you didn’t attend often. Is that because you live abroad?

If you check the Vale website you will find contact details for the club. You can email them and ask if you can make an appointment with Carol, Matt Hancock or David Flitcroft. Let us know how you get on.

Surely she already knew the 'feelings of the fan base' and the 'disappointing fan experience on match days.' She goes to matches, she sees the crowd reaction to inept performances and hears the boos. She goes on the internet and knows the feelings of fans.  Why does this have to be pointed out to her, she already knows! You might as well  have asked her if she knew games kicked off at 3.00pm on a Saturday.

Why not ask her pertinent questions such as - why does she continue to employ DF?  Why hasn't the club signed a striker? Can't she see what is happening week after week on the pitch and if she can, why doesn't she do something about it? How long will she continue to employ DF? Is she considering selling the club? Why has it taken so long to repair the toilets?

I can’t believe you think we didn’t ask “pertinent questions”. Have you read Bede’s account of the meeting?  In order:

Because she thinks he is doing a good job despite evidence to the contrary.
On deadline day the guy they had lined up wasn’t allowed to leave because his parent club hadn’t got the replacement. They had agreed a deal with an out of contract player and were gazumped.
    She didn’t answer.
    No she isn’t.
Because rebuilding the whole block means shutting access to the Paddock and moving the fans. Didn’t want to do that in the season.
    Hope this helps.

No, it certainly wasn't. Again, she didn't know who was coming until just before.

Why do people make stuff up about that meeting when they know bugger all about it, Doha?  It’s infuriating. I should have taken a photograph of everyone there but PA would probably have accused us of having it photoshopped by the Palace.

I mentioned Biden because your argument seems to suggest that older ppl know best,

I suggested nothing of the sort. The people in that meeting were all known to each other from previous campaigns against owners at Vale. We fought against the self interest of V2001 and the disgraceful ownership of Norman Smuthwaite.  In this case we had no issue with the owners, indeed we have huge respect for them. We simply wanted to convey the feelings of the fan base about the current situation on the pitch and who should take responsibility for our failings. We also raised a number of other issues about the disappointing fan experience on matchdays. I have huge trust in all the people who were at that meeting and I have to admit to being seriously pissed off with the negative response of a number of posters to what we were trying to do. Shouting at the internet achieves nothing. Face to face discussion may just achieve something. Please feel free to organise your own meeting and invited a cross section of 8 to 80 year olds to attend.

Take away yourself and your better half [ 74 yrs alone ] and i would guess ...

    6 people = 380 years  average 60 ish years

** To get some 40 years vale fans there has to be one or two over 80 years. Not too young then ?

Personally i am totally happy with everyone i have heard was present. Just hope you all have the desired effect. Unfortunately things will only get worse. Until Flitcroft is cleared out, together with the majority of the players he has signed.

Sorry, I should have added the three guys on Zoom. So it was actually 11 folk. My better half were quite a lot he saw his first game in 1950 and mine was 1972.

Jean, I’m sorry but I’m not following your point with that argument. The President of the USA leaders of the free world a self proclaimed title. He is over 80 years are you happy with him.? Just saying. I’ve been attending for over 50 years but I don’t put anywhere near the money into the club as others. Also that seems exclusionary to younger fans who are the fans of the future.

My response was because a poster suggested those at the meeting weren't genuine fans.  There were young people there as well.  Take myself and my better half away and the average age is dramatically reduced!  I'm not sure why Joe Biden is relevant in this debate - is he a closet Vale fan??

I have supported them for over 60 years myself.

There was nobody from the Football Side of the Club, Carol,Patrick and Matt Hancock.

The Problem is on the Pitch, Flitcroft should have been there and more of a cross section of the Fan Base ie, Some of the Younger Generation like the lads off the Ale and Vale Podcast.

My better half is in his 74th season. The club chose who came from their side - the fans had no control over that. Not all of those there were old fogeys.

The fact the meeting was needed was because the Fans are so ******* fed up.

    Yesterday just made things worse.

She needs to have a Public Forum with Genuine Fans not some happy clappers from North London etc.

The 8 fans who attended the meeting in person had nearly 500 years of Vale support between them.  Is that genuine enough for you?

From my point of view my reaction was to the statement issued by the club, it was a good while before we established on this forum who had actually attended from the fan’s side. The statement from the club didn’t actually state what questions were asked and how they were answered whilst it did acknowledge frank dialogue.
Up until it was confirmed by certain regular and respected contributors to this site I suspected a bit of a sham, a charm offensive by the club, if you will.
Surely you can appreciate that there is a certain amount of sugar coating and ambiguity emanating from that club statement?
Whilst I now know real dedicated, honest and forthright fan’s were in attendance I can calm down and can only hope some good will come of it, especially as folks gave up their valuable time to be there.

Whilst I have on rare occasions questioned the judgement of our chairwoman, she has my total support and gratitude with regards to her ownership of our sacred club.

That last question is key. You can question whilst still supporting.

I think the majority of fans want to know what we discussed regarding DF. I'm sure that Carol won't have said he's getting sacked in the morning so don't worry, but was there any mention of accountability if we were to be relegated? Are they reviewing his work in the transfer windows in the last few months? Is there an understanding that some fans are prepared to give up their season tickets unless this person is removed from the club, and if so, are the club prepared to back DF and lose these fans in the process?

Fans are looking for transparency and the statement released offers none of it.

I would say that if you produced a word cloud of the meeting “accountability”‘ would be front and centre in large letters.

Sorry Rob but I totally disagree. That was a PR puff not a communication. A select few were invited, had smoke blown up their credulous bottoms and sent on their way to preach the great reset. It looks like no hard questions were asked such as the majority on this site would have asked, given the chance. Nothing has changed and it looks like nothing will.

    Waste of time.

Have you read Bede’s post above?
